    I would respectfully disagree that grades are not that important for the beginning of DP 1. I believe that it is important to have that mindset to become the best version of yourself and when you say that grades do not matter that much that will negatively influence students and not encourage effort at the beginning that will be beneficial in the long run.

    • @jq4-s
      @jq4-s  28 днів тому +1

      I definitely agree that building that mindset is really important! I’ve found that especially at the beginning it’s so easy to get caught up on wanting a 7 on everything and overly stressing when the number itself doesn’t matter as much as the way you approach academics - so ofc putting in effort is important, but not to the point of being stressed about grades already at the start of ib

    I just started year 1 of ib (out of 2 years) I’m nervous for the external test!!! they offer it at my school so I took ibdp. But I’m just nervous for the external tests!! Do you have any tips to get a 7? They also just started a new syllabus were the first ones to follow this syllabus! Also how was TOK? It’s the only thing I don’t understand!

    • @jq4-s
      @jq4-s  Рік тому +3

      hi! by external test I'm assuming you mean the final exams? you still have a lot of time so don't worry about those yet - just focus on understanding the content & building good study habits. as for syllabus changes, you can usually use resources for the old syllabus as there will be some overlap, just refer to the subject guide often to ensure you're only covering what you need to. TOK grading is very subjective so it's hard to give advice but I was really interested in philosophy which helped :) try to make it more fun for yourself in small ways!

    im starting my ib this year for dp1, and i was looking forward to it since a Long time. but now that i actually understand how hard its gonna be i feel like i might just fail ib like idk its just a weird thought but is ib really worth it? and is it worth the money?

    • @yas1630
      @yas1630 7 місяців тому +3

      I am currently more than halfway through IBDP1, and while its hard, you shouldn't worry too much. Just make sure you learn and review the material on time and be confident in your abilities (whether that be as you are studying or taking an exam). And you shouldn't worry too much about whether IB is worth it or not, because, I believe in the end, it will be. It will make you a lot more resilient (that is if you don't give up in the face of adversity) and its also supposed to give you a competitive advantage when you apply to universities. I was nervous at first, too, but it's a matter of figuring it out as you go. Just make sure to try and stay disciplined and consistent-- it makes things go a lot easier and smoother.

      hi! most of my files were online on google drive + notability on my iPad which i found convenient. other than that, for each class i just had a basic folder at home to store papers/worksheets + A4 notebook to take notes in class. for math i bought some smaller “pretty” notebooks just to motivate myself lol - for now i’d suggest just getting a simple notebook + folder for each class then you can adjust later if needed! i’ll try to make a more detailed vid about this in the future :) and about english, you can find more info here: lanterna.com/blog/whats-the-difference-between-ib-literature-vs-ib-language-and-literature/

    • @jq4-s
      @jq4-s  Рік тому

      yep! i started with 1 notebook per subject but for some you might need more later. i just used really basic folders like this www.jampaper.com/folders/plastic-sleeves but if you’re not going digital at all then you’ll need something larger like a binder! hope that helps :)

    • @jq4-s
      @jq4-s  11 місяців тому

      hi! it depends on where you're applying - I wanted to study in the UK and they only asked for my predicted grades, not my transcript. some unis I applied to (like in the Netherlands) did ask for transcripts along with predicted grades, but naturally they would prioritise your most recent grades. so having strong grades from the beginning is of course helpful but I'd say the predicted grades are considerably more important. hope that makes sense!

    • @jq4-s
      @jq4-s  10 днів тому

      I made a full video recently on whether I think IB is worth it, but it comes down to whether you feel you’ll benefit more from doing IB than not (esp looking ahead to uni applications) - it is definitely a challenge and can get overwhelming sometimes but as long as you have a good support system & manage your time decently well it’s totally doable :)
