I'm thinking about exploring cloud production tools more as a mini series on my channels. What sort of questions would you liked answered?

What are your thoughts on Streamyard versus Lightstream?

This is a StreamYard competitor for sure. Let the games begin

Let's see how long it takes Alex to get to the #1 downcheck for this: not only do you have MPEG encodes between your cameras and your fingers... you have *two* of those visible 10-60 frame delays; one between the camera and the switcher, and another between the switcher and your eyes.
This is really something you do only if the benefits outweigh *all* the disadvantages... which I suspect they rarely will.

Fair points! The purpose of this video was to show a platform and pose a question about the future of this type of technology.
I will say though, that there are many scenarios where the benefits very much do outweigh the disadvantages. Speaking as someone who does a lot of cloud based productions for multiple clients. Certainly in recent times, we’ve all had to adapt to the changing world, and this is one technology that has grown massively due to recent events.
Appreciate your thoughts on this topic! Definitely keen to hear if it’s something you’d ever try and in what scenarios.

@@AlexPettitt for me, it would definitely be client and event-driven, and I would personally treat it as a last resort, because those 10-frame delays all day long will simply drive you mad.

@@baylinkdashyt While I personally share your viewpoint about "unacceptable latency/delay", the world doesn't always see things that way! Case in point -- I was just at a Billy Joel concert in Buffalo NY where they used IMAG, image mapping and other processing for their stage production. In most cameras I noticed 0 delay. In one I though there was a 1-3 frame delay -- but in their down-cam looking down on his piano, the delay was like 20 frames (or more)!! They used that to highlight his playing on a few songs and I couldn't BELIEVE how far behind the image was from his playing. We're talking BILLY JOEL concert, high budget, full stadium show.
I'd hate to think that they just decided it would be "acceptable", but gotta wonder these days -- maybe people really HAVE accepted poor quality, and out-of-synch or delayed content since the pandemic?

Do I need an encoder for my GoPro 10 hero or is the RTMP link enough?

RTMP source is old and slow. What about SRT with H265 codec?
