Thanks. It only takes a few trashy people to really make these busy fishing spots disgusting. But, it also only takes a few people to clean them up. In the less popular spots it makes a really big difference because a lot the trash has been building up for years and once it gets cleaned up, it usually stays pretty clean for a while. We try to do a couple of big clean-ups like this a year.
Hey Cory, bummer about your net! That was a pretty big Buffalo, there are a ton of them down there. Almost as much as there was garbage 😉. It was nice meeting you and Viv, we'll have to get together and fish here soon.
I think my next video is going to be about my new net :) It was great finally meeting you as well. I think I started watching your ice fishing videos last winter, and thought they were great. Between all the rain and now this cold front, fishing might get a little tricky the next couple of months. I was planning on fishing early Saturday morning, but might wait until Sunday afternoon this week.
@@teamcramerfishing8441 dang must be a fancy net to dedicate a video to it haha. Yeah this weekend might be rough, the Des Moines river has gone up a lot. Next week looks good though.
I catch small mouth buffalo here on Fox River. I don't like those, because they tend to displace even common carp, and make carp fishing really miserable. You get all these small bites and u lose your bait, and when u finally catch one they don't pull. I wouldn't care if they grew big, but these don't. I was also surprised u snagged him so close to the mouth. By the way he was pulling i thought it was snagged in the center of the body.. Either way a catch to remember : )
At first I think he might have been tangled, too, and then came unwrapped when he surfaced the first time. He's kind of a big lug and didn't really make a run like a carp would. I can see how it would be kind of annoying to catch smaller ones, but they are native, so I'm not going to get too bent out of shape. We have a lot of small mouth buffalo in our local lake, but don't catch them very often. I did catch an 8lber on a senko while fishing for bass once, and that was fun.
Thanks! I was remarkably calm considering how big the fish was :) I think it's because I knew they were in there and around what size they usually run so it wasn't a total surprise. We need get back down there and get a couple for legit. I have a new net that's a little bigger.
Yeah, one of the reasons we don't use baitcasters much is because of the backlashes, but we are going to try to catch a muskie next year so we need to figure it out :)
I have actually had this reel for over 3 years now, but I've hardly used it because it's usually just easier to use the spinning reels. Next year, Viv is going to be using this when we fish for bigger fish, which we hope to be doing more of next year. So, probably next year at some point we will have a review.
Awesome vid! Have only seen buffalo but never touched one! Awesome catch, even though it wasn't a lifer. I recently also removed a species, the longnose gar, since was caught on a rope lure from my list.
Thanks for stopping by. I removed a blue gill x sunfish hybrid a couple months ago. I guess most folks don't count them. Probably should though. I mean, how could people not count something like a tiger trout because it's a hybrid? Of course, I can count whatever I want to, I guess, but I might as well play by the same rules as everyone else :) I'm pretty sure if I keep fishing this spillway I can get one in the mouth, eventually. Only problem is it's a 45 minute drive from home and it's always full of people whenever I go there.

Sounds good! Wanna really see some trash...bring ya a magnet and do some fishing...you’d be shocked what people throw in the water!
What a huge beast! Good job on the cleanup as well!
Thanks! He was a big 'un

Glad to see you trying to make the place cleaner. I don't know why people always leaving trash behind.
Thanks. It's amazing how much trash gets left behind sometimes.
Viv helped real good.
She can be pretty helpful when fish are on the line. It's when the fishing is slow she becomes more reluctant to pitch in :)

Oh man that was awesome! That's a species I've never caught. That thing was massive. Nice job!

Bird's nest, YUCK!!! That was a big one for Viv to wrangle in with the net. Congrats on that catch though.

Noticed the KastKing Rover right away -- I'd love for you to review someday! @Team Cramer Fishing
