I don't know why people like Fat Joe, KRS 1, Busta Rhymes and Pete Rock who were NOT present during hiphop's inception, insist on trying to tell the story of hiphop's inception! To be clear, I'm Rahiem from Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5 and prior to them I was the leader of the Funky 4! There were Latins on the scene during hiphop's inception, but not many and those who were present were onlookers and had nothing to do with creating or innovating during that time! Black American teenagers were the innovators of hiphop hands down! Kool Here is Jamaican but you never heard him play one reggae song at any of his jams because he was influenced by black American music! Latins didn't become innovators in hiphop culture until the 80's! I would love to sit on a panel with our legendary brothers Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Pete Rock or anyone else, so I can drop these receipts on them! Peace God!

People always want to say it doesn't matter when it comes to Foundational Black Americans. That's when you suddenly hear the "we're all black". No, we're not. Black Americans are cut from an entirely different cloth and that's not meant to be demeaning to anyone else it's just facts. It is FBA's that created Jazz, Gospel, Blues, Rock and Roll, R&B, Funk, and yes, Hip Hop to name a few. FBA's are responsible for birthing the most unique and influential culture the world has ever known. No other group of black people have done this. This should be acknowledged and respected. Instead, people of immigrant backgrounds have the audacity to take what FBA's have created and claim it as their own and then turn around and tell us we are being divisive because we are telling the truth about our culture. We FBA's will no longer tolerate these blatant lies and grossly disrespectful behavior.

The question we must ask is, Why are Puerto Ricans and Jamaicans going so hard to get partial creative credit for hip hop? Black Americans' creative credit can not be questioned, but Puerto Ricans and Jamaicans creative credit is questionable. Black Americans are the common denominator in this discussion as to who created hip hop, because Hip Hop is a Black American cultural construct. The music is Black American, The slang is Black American, The dress code and style is Black American, The body and hand gesturing is Black American, The environment of the parties and jams was Black American and it was already in place and established many years ago prior to others participation. So once again, Why are Puerto Ricans and Jamaicans going so hard to get partial creative credit for hip hop? The answer is a bit deeper than simply bragging rights. It has to do with the country of America and who this country belongs to and who rightfully belongs here and whose position can not be usurped. Black Americans of all people in America hold a very unique position. Black Americans literally created the culture of America. One can go so far as to say Black Foundational Americans are the culture of America. The Blues and Jazz are considered by many to be the only true original and authentic elements of American culture, and Black Americans are solely responsible for both. Now throw Rag Time, Country, Rock-n-Roll, Funk, Soul Music, Gospel, Rhythm and Blues, disco etc Black Americans have created all of these genres. This music has traveled the world and has become synonymous with America and thereby firmly establishing Black Americans position and role in developing America. No other group can claim or challenge this fact. America presently is the crown jewel of the world, and the world desires to come here. People from Africa, Latin America, China, India, Europe, The Middle East etc all want to come and migrate to America. But also what these foreign immigrants covet is the unbreakable cultural position of Black Americans because this would grant them a stake in America, and the world wants a stake in America, the greatest nation on the planet. This is partly the cause of the hatred, jealousy and Anti-Black rhetoric directed towards Black Americans by immigrants to America. The foundation and history of America rests on and is directly tied to Black Americans. Black Americans are the only group that have been slaves on American soil and slavery produced the economic bedrock which this nation has been built on. You'll hear people say slavery has existed throughout history and has been practiced around the world, but slavery in America was different. The brutality of American chattel slavery was unspeakable. Blacks were not even allowed to read and were stripped of their history, names, language and culture. Slavery of this sort and inhumanity never existed anywhere in the world prior to the creation of America, and to compare it to previous slavery is actually an insult and another attack on trying to wrestle the cultural position away from Black Americans. Also which even greatly heightens the strength of Black Americans cultural position is that all of the forms of music was literally birthed out of the pain and suffering experienced by American slavery.
Now here we are, Hip Hop is born and once again Black Americans are at the forefront of this American cultural phenomenon that has captured the entire world within its unbreakable grip. Puerto Ricans and Caribbeans were in the proximity of Black Americans in the Bronx in the 60's and 70's and realize the cultural importance of Hip Hop to America and they will stop at nothing to be a part of and claim creative credit for hip hop so as to stake claim in the greatest country the world has ever known, America. Lying, stealing and yes even outright murder is not off the table, for what they are truly seeking is of immeasurable value, so much so, and even to further prove my point, now it's to the point that all Latino's and Caribbeans Including Mexicans, Cubans, Dominicans, etc are trying to lay claim hip Hop as partially theirs culturally and this is clearly not the case.

Fat Joe, KRS, and Pete Rock ought to be ashamed of themselves pushing this propaganda. Hip-Hop was created by African Americans; Kool Herc just happened to be DJ of Jamaican descent that mixed African American music that African Americans rappers rhythm to, but he wasn’t the only one. A small number of Jamaicans and Puerto Ricans participated in this African American genre during the creation of Hip-Hop. They claim that Busta Rhymes stated that, “African Americans don’t have a culture”. If this is true, shame on Busta Rhymes.
I think we should boycott anything these individuals are apart of. They have depended on FBA aka African Americans for the most part to buy their records and come to their concerts. Honestly, all this pan African movement I want to assume came from the honorable Elijah Muhammad. The nation of Islam keeps things very feudal system like and the only few outstanding amongst them have been deemed liabilities to the queen b😂 and their worker bees. I felt they were lackluster, and those suits make them former shells of themselves. They give me sneaky under handed and undermining set apart while tethered onto what they think hinders us. It hinders them what they have given up to be conditioned in the ways of the cursed, Allah in hebrew means cursed. Allahiyum is the correct word.

Culturally, economically, politically you have to always be vigilant. Always have the fight in you. Or your culture gets taken, your neighborhood gets taken, laws and policies specifically made to help your people get co opted and serve other groups, at your expense. Can't be mentally lazy. Can't just throw your hands up and accept your fate. You cant consciously or unconsciously mentally check out. Gotta teach your kids the same. And teach then to teach their kids the same.

I have to add another commit. First thing most Hispanic have to do is admit they have black in them as well. If Latinos want to claim creation in hip hop, acknowledge your African roots and be proud of that. Im from Spanish Harlem, I claim all Harlem because I was born on the east side then moved to the west side. And the Instruments that was sample from was all from African roots. This Hip Hop is a culture that the American black descendants of slave created. You see music help us Black Americans stay real to our origin story. Blues, jazz country we created and influence it all. Not just Hip Hop we black people created all forms of American music. Even as slaves we sung songs so how can the world act like we never had that ability to create something like hip hop with no help. Look at the history of black American people we never got credit for a lot of invention. I refuse we take a lost with the creation of hip hop. It's ours, we willing to share it, just please respect where it came from. The soul of American black slaves period✊🏽🙏🏽👏🏾❤️🤜🏽🤛🏽
