I’m sorry the current level of women’s skating does nothing for me. There are some exceptions. Most of the tricks performed in these runs I was able to do in my late teens. Granted not so much these days, well with a month or two of daily skating perhaps. Just feels like it’s all to do with companies wanting to be relevant and get that $€¥£ from a new market segment. No man would be allowed to Skate in this competition at this ability. Don’t get me wrong I think it’s great skating is being taken up by so many more sects of society. This exposure may inspire more to take it up, but it creates an false expectation of what’s really going on. There will be someone wanting to tear me down for saying this. I’m allowed to have an opinion. Celebrate diversity! This includes diversity of opinion!
I have never skated before in my life, but I do know that if someone falls almost every time and can’t even have a 50% success rate doing basic tricks, that they aren’t very good at there sport. I can see those level of athletes in the semi finals or qualifiers, but how they made it to the finals is kind of surprising. I live near Aspen colorado where the Winter Olympics are held, and they always have some of the best athletes, clearly x games can get them to compete. Yet they couldn’t for this event?
Not only Leticia Bufoni won X Games gold in Brazil, but Bob Burnquist and Pedro Barros.

Sticks and stones may break Letícia’s bones, but words will never hurt her.
