As one of Jeffrey Delia's fishing buddies, I find this pattern to be very intriguing. I fish a lot of float flies for SRCs because I like the great visuals of trout chasing and striking flies like Jay Paulson's Titanic, Leland's Popper and my Suspending Minnow. I really liked your fishing scenes at the end. obviously the Tiger Squid is productive for you. I'll definitely be tying and trying a few on my local beaches.
I completely agree that fishing floating patterns is one of the most engaging ways of chasing these fish. I’m familiar with the Titanic, and obviously the Miyazaki Popper, but I haven’t come across the Suspending Minnow. Could you point me in the direction of a recipe for that?
5 and 6 weight. In the months when returning coho are around, if I'm fishing the beaches where they might also show up, I change to a 7 weight just in case.
I like the constraint in the colors! This is beautiful 😻!!

Great fly. I can see that it sure gets the cutthroats attention.👍
Might have to try one of these up in Southeast Alaska.
Very nice pattern. What weight rod do you usually use for sea-run cutthroat?
