brandon's review rock! appreciate u note the lag and response from screen to screen and settings. those lags turn me off totally. glad i watched your review
the reason for the slight lag when opening folders, apps, menus is its only using the 5th core which is only 500mhz.... usually the 4 cores dont run when u are just in the background opening apps that are not heavy or graphics intensive...
You could customise those icons on the bottom in Sense 2.1, and probably before that. All you have to do is touch and hold on one of the icons and you can move it.
I think he was fair with his comments about the one x. There is noticeable lag on the phone especially if you are like me and expect that with a quad core processor it should work with almost no lag. I think the animation probably causes the lag or perhaps it is the transition from single to quad because the phone does use the single core to perform small tasks. Low light photos are kinda bad but if you sit there and do some adjustments the low light photos turn out pretty well..............
Kopacz Andrew I had this phone and it was awesome. Friends got the S3 and I picked this one and was not mad I chose it. Now it is a old phone but I may pick one up on AMAZON again for shits and giggles.
i saw alot of videos showing that when recording video its laggy, is it removed with a software update or still exists? and is the video playback smooth or laggy?
Hey Brian, you're forgetting that even if the phone is quad core, there is another chip that takes care of those basic tasks.Normally it doesn't take 4 chips to run messaging apps or customizing your home screens for that matter. That is just normal lag.Kinda same with other phones running dual or quad core. You want a phone that reacts faster than you talk? Maybe you're asking too much.
This is Brandon Miniman, my favorite phone guy. Been following him since Windows Mobile 6.1. You obviously don't know what you are talking about. The lag he pointed out doesn't look good, and if this isn't fixed or proved to be removed all together with a custom ROM (which is as good as the stock), I will not buy it... Even though I really want HTC over Samsung. Thank you for the video, Brandon, it was a really good review. Guys, vote down these top comments, they're just stupid.
One thing about this video of this phone is that I wanted to see a review about the phone. Not a video that talks about the phone and says along the lines of..."If you wanna know about this feature, watch the review on pocketnow". Well, I clicked this video looking for reviews. Other than that, I miss this damn phone. If I purchased this today, does anyone know if they (HTC) has an update?
for the people that looking at the video in this time and dont know what to choose. i have a few more tips. you can upgrade it to jellybean 4.1.1 and maybe 4.2 later i think. and we have sense 4.0 but we are getting sense 5.0 soon!! and this phone is really amazing
He's sayin the speed of the phone is not what you expect from a quad core prosessor but when he swipes down the notifacation bar it cearly says at the top At&T which does not have a quad core prosessor
I totally agree with you Brandon, even though I've only watched videos. But I think all those issues will be, at least, increased with a software update. ICS is new, and so is Sense 4.0. Nice review!
This phone or the s3 ? I can't decide cause I am getting a upgrade and I am a very techy person so i know the specs but they're both just so great and i can't decide anyone have any suggestions?
Why do people keep talking about the number of cpu cores whenever they talk about lag. ICS has hardware acceleration which means that the gpu is doing all the rendering and drawing. It has nothing to do with cpu cores or RAM. It did matter in 2.3 (except from gs2 because Samsung added hardware acceleration themselves) becaus it didn't have it and therefore the cpus that were allready working on almost everything else had to do the rendering and drawing too. HTC sense is making it slow not ICS.
i have had mine for about a week and the only lag that i can report is, when you have a home page full of widgets like youtube and music and you rapidly change home pages. but with 4.1 Jellybean and project butter, this should get fixed and make the One X a pretty legit phone
I don't understand what "lagginess" the person is talking about in this phone. Its been 2 months of my usage of this phone and trust me it is fast. Both S3 and One X are equally fast, if you want better looks, better build quality, premium finish, go for one X. If you're ok with cheap plastic finish of S3, but a better battery, go for S3.
i agree with everything even the lag, but the battery is amazing and lasts for ages even when gaming, for average use i can easily get two whole days out of it, and tbh i really like the fact of the battery getting warm because it doesnt get boiling but its hot enough to warm your hand on a cold day even though that probably not intended by htc...
My galaxy s takes about 10-15 seconds to open up messages now... a 1 second lag seems like a dream come true i'll be getting this phone in a little less than a month
I'm glad that I have a HTC One X, camera is decent, battery is a bit disappointing but the software updates fix a lot of issues which affect the battery life. I'm also waiting for the Sense 5 update, so there is almost no need to buy the HTC One. I might eventually upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S4, due to 13mp camera, latest android software, huge battery and a monster CPU.
Outdoor pictures are amazing. And the screen is amazing. I actually enjoy the phone even though it still had some faults. It is still an amazing phone and had a lot of good qualities. For their first phone to start their comeback it is a good start. It shows that they do want to increase the customer experience and I hope they keep going and release an even better phone in the one series. Also good upgrade from hd2.
Yes, Stock Android is Pure Android without a skin on top of it ex. HTC Sense, TouchWiz, and Moto UI. But phones like the Nexus line have STOCK Android because they have not been changed from the original version because it is the original version.
Hardware is a winner. HTC went to work on the design and came up with something really great here. Camera has fantabulous features but the pictures are not phenominal still give an edge to the iphone. Don't know if it's the resolution but the apps are really small and space out and the stock browser is fast but schity and buggy (third party browser like Dolphin should sort that out). It's a great phone the best looking android period.
It's funny because in regards to the camera every reviewer says something different. Phone Arena says it sucks, Engadget says its great, and Pocket now say it's good but not great. I don't know who to believe, I guess I'll have to wait until I get one in my hands and test it out
Brilliant! Reviewing a quad core phone on a North American review site when they aren't going to get it. It must be like rubbing salt on to a wound. Thankfully I live in the UK and received mine last week. It is fantastic!
For the specification and price, it shouldn't lag or stutter even for a second, it get really frustrating. I know this because I use a samsung galaxy s2 and when it lag or stutter for even just one second, I get really frustrated because I paid an expensive price for it.
Sense 4.1 for the One X has leaked, reportedly solves launcher lag and improves battery life. All your whining about the launcher's lag is / will soon be invalid.
not that big of an issue but for a top end 4 core superphone it's not acceptable in my opinion. My galaxy s2 lags every now and then too, and it drives me crazy...
Well, when Steve Jobs experienced simmilar lag with the prototype of the first Ipod, he ordered to redesing the whole thing. Maybe for some it is not an issue, but it just means, that phone wasn't polished enough!
@zaidster111 well i dont seem to recognize that 0.1 sec lag. neither do i care if it takes 0.1 sec long because im getting the.benefits of sense which is little resource grabbing but beautiful than touchwiz
You're 100% right about how every single damn HTC phone looked the same. Jeez like they were all silver colored and had that hideous camera lens on the back of each of them.
@guyaneseDJ13...IOS has not changed for years. It is severely lacking in features which is why it runs smooth as you say. Plus IOS does not have true multitasking. Only the current task runs unlike Android which runs multiple tasks at once.
What is this lag he keeps talking about? What the heck dose he have that is so blazing fast, that has zero lag? Now real question, will the international version work on the T-Mobile HSPA+ network?
Got the phone a two weeks ago, had a lagging issue at first, after hard reset, no issue what so ever, so to sum up the guy reviewing is talking balls, but he's right on the battery, nothing too bad, but when playing games, it just flies away, as for s3, it probably will be more powerful, but nothin so far utilizes the four cores, and won't be for another year
OH NO, THE FOLDER MAI FACEBOOK WAS IN LAGGED SLIGHTLY, CAUSING ME TO OPEN TOO LATE, IF I HAD POSTED LIKE 2 SECONDS BEFORE, I WOULD'VE GOTTEN LIKE AT LEAST ONE MORE LIKE!!!!!
Well think it this way - it's a fricking 700$ phone (unlocked) and it has a quad-core prosessor with a fifth companion core and if it lags like a single-core 1Ghz Desire HD then whats the matter paying 400$ more for this?
Who wish HTC could still create this unique design for HTC flagship in 2019?
It's Brandon in the minivan from pocketnow
1:54 They could sue Samsung if they patented that name...
I still have my one x and the sense 5 update has removed virtually all 'lag' and battery life has improved by miles, unless your on 3g...
THERE IS ONE THING that ALL smartphones need - A GOOD INSTRUCTION MANUAL!!!
Haha yep, I sometimes read just for the fun of it. I still have the manual for the Nokia 3310.
bring back the One X ... with updated internals!!! please!!!!!!
brandon's review rock! appreciate u note the lag and response from screen to screen and settings. those lags turn me off totally. glad i watched your review
Y los audifonos Beats Audio SOLO no vienen en esta versión y la microsim si funcionara en Ecuador?????
Lag's pretty much gone with the Sense 5/Android 4.2.2 update.
Are you still alive?
the reason for the slight lag when opening folders, apps, menus is its only using the 5th core which is only 500mhz.... usually the 4 cores dont run when u are just in the background opening apps that are not heavy or graphics intensive...

whats that blue button on the camera!?my guess is that its the auto focus button
What do you mean with "dropbox for 2years"? Will you not be able to use it after 2 years and what happens to all the pictures etc?
I think he was fair with his comments about the one x. There is noticeable lag on the phone especially if you are like me and expect that with a quad core processor it should work with almost no lag. I MISS THIS GUY
Same, has he quit reviewing?
Kopacz Andrew I had this phone and it was awesome. Friends got the S3 and I picked this one and was not mad I chose it. Now it is a old phone but I may pick one up on AMAZON again for shits and giggles.
What happened to him?? Did he quit reviewing?
Yes of course, but what happens to the things that I've saved if I decide to not pay for it or if I just forget the "deadline"?
i saw alot of videos showing that when recording video its laggy, is it removed with a software update or still exists? and is the video playback smooth or laggy?

Is this phone out everywhere? And Nokia lumia 900, evo 4g or one x?
i need a choice.. please tell me which one to choose.. Xperia S OR One X
was this vid made b4 the update to the os was done?
do you have the phone? you can see insane amount of lag in this video...
Actually i dont have the phone but im thinking of buying one....do u think the lag its a big issue?I need ur opinion
Tegra 3 uses the 5ft (1)core to just doing normal task. Its only uses All 4 core when is needed.
One thing about this video of this phone is that I wanted to see a review about the phone. pinky1933 the phone is updated to android 4.2.2.. jellybean
no more further updates.. yet released

overall, the one x or galaxy s3?
This phone or the s3 ? I can't decide cause I am getting a upgrade and I am a very techy person so i know the specs but they're both just so great and i can't decide anyone have any suggestions?
Comparison between the One X and One S?
The slight choppiness in the menus is probably due to utilisation of the low-powered companion core :/.
Why do people keep talking about the number of cpu cores whenever they talk about lag. ICS has hardware acceleration which means that the gpu is doing all the rendering and drawing. Try turning on usb debugging in settings- applications - development. That usually speeds up HTC phones.
Well yesterday I went to Phones4u to c if there is actually any lag or not and I want to tell that i didnt notice any lag at all
i agree with everything even the lag, but the battery is amazing and lasts for ages even when gaming, for average use i can easily get two whole days out of it, and tbh i really like the fact of the battery getting warm because it doesnt get boiling but its hot enough to warm your hand on a cold day even though that probably not intended by htc...

Which is better : htc one x or htc desire 620G ???
Fuck HTC
Well that's enlighting xD
when is the sgs3 coming out?
Outdoor pictures are amazing. And the screen is amazing. I actually enjoy the phone even though it still had some faults. It is still an amazing phone and had a lot of good qualities. What did you find wrong with it? I love mine?
A very reasoned and detailed review, along with many real world use testing. Very good.
Is this still worth it now? hows battery life, performance and camera?
+Omar Rangel If you get a new one the battery will be good enough, performance on 5.1.1 is fine, camera is great.
I had that lag with the browser on my sensation with the 4.0 update, I just turned "auto-fit to screen" and boom, no more lag with pinching to zoom
one x or nexus 4?
Watching this on my HTC M9 :)
even tho it was 3 years ago, but with today technology it feels like decades.
Hardware is a winner. HTC went to work on the design and came up with something really great here. Isn't it 1.7GHz Quad-core? please reply, I'm about to buy a new phone, still struggling with the choise :S
It is fantastic!
true story. i was kinda shocked, what HTC "added" to their Sense. Those features were implementent ages before that in my custom ROM
Best review anyone has done on this phone so far, but I'll definitely be getting the HTC EVO 4G LTE.
That camera burst feature was really cool!! Good thinking, HTC!
my frend your right looks like its a dual core
a lot of people are trying to convince us that its not as fast as its should and i dont know why?
It's not lag, it's just the animation, you can disable animation and it will be instant.
I really like this new review format congrats!
It makes sense though, because there was lag. Hopefully for the North American version they'll give it a 5 if the problems are not apparent
If the galaxy s3 is out before august it will be a choice between these 2 for me
i just bought the one x is great but it does not have 32g of internal memory its only like 11 or so. but u do get the 20g w drop box
or samsung galaxy s 3??
For the specification and price, it shouldn't lag or stutter even for a second, it get really frustrating. I know this because I use a samsung galaxy s2 and when it lag or stutter for even just one second, I get really frustrated because I paid an expensive price for it.
what are you talking about 1 second lag !!!! did you even time it by a second ?
Sense 4.1 for the One X has leaked, reportedly solves launcher lag and improves battery life.
All your whining about the launcher's lag is / will soon be invalid.
@Edvinas Kilbauskas - Can't wait.
BTW you can fix the lag ( if there is any ) by a custom rom thas the whole point of android
this phone is amazing should i get this when comes out or should i get the samsung galaxy s2
not that big of an issue but for a top end 4 core superphone it's not acceptable in my opinion.
My galaxy s2 lags every now and then too, and it drives me crazy...
He's absolutely right. You can clearly see the lag that should NOT be present on a quad-core device.
one x or iphone 5 ?
how is that lag.
lag is big issue imo because when u start loading heaps of apps on it will be even slower wait for the s3 definetly will be better this..

Now real question, will the international version work on the T-Mobile HSPA+ network?
how much cost
this!!!
Ok, but Jelly bean would be still allot smoother with it's project "butter".
Last year I was stuck with this phone or the s3 and I choose the s3 no regrets
even tough all the padding on the walls there's still a noticeable echo :D
I would like to see how fast Chrome Beta works on One X !
yay review from Brandon ^^
Are you still alive?
One S review please :)
Are you still alive?
@@tedsmalldik3248 ye why?

@imsocool215 He's making a point with that. A so called QUAD CORE phone should not be doing that.
OH NO, THE FOLDER MAI FACEBOOK WAS IN LAGGED SLIGHTLY, CAUSING ME TO OPEN TOO LATE, IF I HAD POSTED LIKE 2 SECONDS BEFORE, I WOULD'VE GOTTEN LIKE AT LEAST ONE MORE LIKE!!!!!

Dude you cant judge the HTC one x just yet, wait for future firmware updates and it will probably improve everything at least by a little.
The packaging looks cheap? how?
Excellent Brandon! I will still get this phone, since I don't like Samsung build quality.
That lag that you were complaining about can easily be fixed with a software update.
