it amazes me how kurt is considered one of the greatest guitarists of his time. this isn't to shit on kurt, he was an amazing guitarist. but a lot of his trademarks were the standard for punk guitarists for 25 years at that point. of course, he definitley adapted those techniques and fused them with pop and shoegaze. but the loud brashness of his work was in no way his own idiosyncratic creation. it's absolutely difficult to talk about kurt without talking about the scenes he was heavilly involved with. never forget his connection to bikini kill. if you want a punk band, listen to bikini kill.
I’ve never heard anyone calling Kurt a great guitarist? A great artist yes but anyone who knows a bit about music knows Kurt was a pretty average player
What?! Nobody thinks he is a great guitarist and he didn't want to be one. He is however one of the greatest songwriters of his generation.
@@landonparson7200 I've seen a list where he was ranked #13 greatest guitarist ever. People tend to overrate his guitar skills
Well Steve Vai himself said he was an awesome player, I think thats a more valuable opinion
@@deafphantom865 He was good, but not in the best of the best category. I think that's what people are trying to point out.
Stop hating on him y'all can't play like that
As someone who’s been playing guitar for almost fifteen years, I can say literally everything he played was all beginner shit my dude. I learned how to play like that within the first couple of months
@@joeyfigueroa4748 yeah that gilmour tone was definitely not it, and he isn’t famous for playing power chords, like he has so many amazing solos that aren’t that hard to play
@@joeyfigueroa4748 Source: trust me bro
@@joeyfigueroa4748 but have u play before
I'm mean have yall play if yes than yall can talk crap but if not yall can't be talking crap
bro pink floyd was a psych rock band not a metal band...
Amp settings are only a fraction of what makes a guitarists tone
As a metal player, what the heck is Mid?
As a metal player, you really should know your mids man..
@@Huliwig mid
The mids where your guitar lives
Scooped mids is where it's at
What makes your guitar cut through a mix
This makes literally no sense whatsoever.
why are yall being so harsh he didnt do anything wrong😭
A 6 for George Harrison???
Yeah, madness.
How do you test David's Amp settings and not do hearty bends?
This dudes obviously a big Cobain fan.
cuz hes awesome

@@nameunorthodox3653 he’s not that good
@@nameunorthodox3653 oh come on, he’s overrated.
@@zyclose8653 his popular work is mainstream and overplayed but i enjoy it and more than just that. his melodies are simple yet powerful and that’s a type of writing not a lot of people can do “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication…” . but after all its music which is objective. dont focus on hating or disliking it. just let people enjoy what they enjoy. not saying you were hating but for anyone reading this
When Kurt’s amp setting gets a 10/10 over every other artist 😑
Cuz is Kurt, a crack
When you shit on someone for their opinions:😑
Kurt is best
@nevermind | home of recordings because he obviously had no idea what he was doing and just maxed everything
@nevermind | home of recordings No doubt that Kurt was a great musician but rating him over George Harrison just seems kinda odd to put it politely.
Bro that’s not how it works
Sorry, but this sounds not even close to David Gilmour.
This whole comment section is just, in a nutshell "uMm AcTuALlY"
Ik right, guitar players are just so fucking annoying sometimes. Just say he’s a good player (which he is)
@@lolleo9118 😂😂😂
Not going to get that Gilmore sound if you don't bend your strings to the next county
Edit: I made a joke and didn't actually say anything about your performance. Like doing that so I wanted to edit this and let you know that I thought it was very well played keep up the good work!
Question, is there like an IQ cutoff for TikTok and YT shorts where if you're above double digits you can't make them?
Seems to be
I’m not to sure about UA-cam, but TikTok automatically ends the video after 60 seconds. There are some people that have the feature to make them 3 minutes long. Sadly, not everyone has this option.
People in this comment section need to find their dads cause they seem to have some problems going on at home being overly negative for no reason.
okay now try dimebag darrell's far beyond driven tone
Worst metal tone of all time. Dime was a great player but his tone was pretty awful
@@nonono7973 to you maybe.
@@nonono7973 nah he had amazing tone
@@nonono7973 what crack you smoking probably the best tone in metal
Damn rite stronger than all cfhfl getcha pull. I have a Dimebag Darrell tattoo and a Pantera leg.
All of the settings sounded rightish, but Gilmores did not!
You play well. But you should give Gilmour another shot. He wasn’t such a choppy blues player. His tone was warm with delay and a little reverb. He typically was using the neck and mid pickups for leads. Looking for that glassy tone. Almost like Eric Johnson.
Not even close to gilmours tone my man.
The reason nirvana doesn’t sound right yall is because on their tracks they put like 5 different guitar overdubs for the tone
Well that was mostly for nevermind, but for this song specifically yeah.
Now i know the nirvana sound, i should of guessed, remember the insert said where to set bass and treble on your stereo on one of their albums, jam time
You call that Gilmour???
A true man respecting Kurt
It doesn't work that way...
Ok guitarist, please explain how it works
@@SHA-vj7ul Different amps have different ranges, so it's irrelevant. When I set my Crate and my Marshall, I set them way differently because they don't respond the same way.
Yeah, the amp, pedals, mics doesn’t matter at all. Bass middle trebble baby!
Yeah because it’s a short abt “amp setting” not “microphone setting”
@@ThusSpokeSpooky do you play guitar? In that case, you really should know how retarded this video is
George Harrison is my Personal Favorite
Same:)
Dialing the eq like this means nothing unless you are using the exact same amps as these guys, all amps are going to dial differently smh
I think this guy has a $1 million of guitars and pedals , amps
Kurt's is actually halfway on treb and bass then maxed out on mid
This is what happens when you program a shitty AI to make a guitar video. "Gilmore tone" then proceeds to power chord instead of bending solos. Plus amp settings don't matter if you don't have the same gear.
How are you gonna hate and then not even spell the guy’s name right? If you’re gonna be all pompous at least proofread your own comment
@@yungbisharp I'm not even a big fan of Pink Floyd. But anyone who think they know enough to make youtube videos should probably actually know what they fucking sound like. It's like copying Slash's guitar tone and then playing some paramore pop punk.

You're kinda missing the point completely
That's not at all what people are saying. People don't like the short because the tones are inaccurate as hell, and showcase it as if the tone comes only from the amp.
Lmao some of these people can’t handle you having an opinion
Don’t listen to them, you’re all good, I agree with your ratings
