that is bit dangerous but works in hands of skilled person. I am quite sure who ever tries this for first time it will overheat bearings and they will not have long or happy life.
I put the bearing over a stainless steel plate and then heat the center of the of the bearing (not directly to the bearing) that way the center of the bearing heat even equal. that way take me 1 minute and half for the bearing to expand and it work perfectly. for me I understand and put it in practice, when I heat the bearing and the speedo gear like you do, (I don't trying to say that u do it wrong), it take more time to heat it. but that's to ur video I learn how to do it. Thanks
this will work but you are NEVER suposed to heat bearings. you heat soak it and the metal will temper and soften really shortening the life of the bearing.and just putting it out there if you have to hit one on with a hammer only hit the inner race never anywhere else
It depends on how much you heat it, as they only have to grow by about 10/50 thousands, and they will also heat up when you drive it, but they won't come off because both the bearing and the carrier heat up at the same time when assembled. So some heat is acceptable, especially if it's a metal sealed bearing, not plastic sealed, but a good observation. Best Wishes n Blessings Keith
It's not good for the grease or the parts. This is only if you don't have a press. A shop press is not that expensive. If you do this regularly, I would just buy the press and do it the right way.
@onenonlybubba transmsion might of got low on fluid causing reverse and 5th to seize up so will require a rebuild send me a private email i can get u the part

thanks for sharing you knowledge and experience with .THE WORLD!!!!

if possible throw the interior parts in the freezer overnight as well.

10/50 thousands isnt a number.
0.001"-0.005"?
@@DR10002 correct they are 2 numbers, but yes we know what you're saying
Good way to get them on easily. Do you do video requests?
Hey i got a question, do u know if I can use the ls differential and put b16 ring gear onto it. Or is the b16 and ls differential different
Thanks man ,,that was very useful for me,,
ok so its maybe not the best for fitting a new bearing but presumably its fine to use heat for taking old bearings off?
Can you please do one. Changing a input shaft bearing!

I use a growler for heating bearings.
Why not use a race driver set?
Is that MAP gas or standard propane?
Don't think grease in new bearing will be too happy with that heat.
So? how long is that supposed to last???? this ain't downtown Kabul!

can u remove the bearing by heating it as well?
you would heat the case
Best thing to use is a clamshel type diff bearing puller. About $250 for a Dura Solid on Amazon.
Oven would be safer. 200°. If you hit 300 to 400° the steel is ruined, becomes brittle
Will it shrink it enough to put the diff in.the freezer without using heat on the bearings?
Won't the heat destroy the bearing and the grease inside?
it's inside the transmission or differential case, they don't use grease, transmission or diff oil
Show how to get them off.
Hmmm the bearing life is shorten then.
nobel prize! heat up a new bearing!.... rofl
O god vlsd thoes are junk
