So the plan is to save for a house at 50. Plan for retirement at 50 then drop dead at 70? This field is dying. Pay is getting lower each year. Tuition and debt skyrocketing. Private practice cost money and need to be paid off before you're break eveb

Average salary out of school is closer to 180k. The kicker is our earning potential. If, as an associate, you practice expanded functions dentistry (molar RCT, extractions, implants etc.), commit to working 6 days/week and practice in a rural community where competition is low, your take home can exceed $30-50k a month.

Look on MEDIAN PAY not average… in Atlanta, the median pay for a general dentist is $165,000 and that’s directly from the BLS 2021 data (that comes from the IRS.)
Indebted general dentist and pediatricians take home the same amount of money as a debt free truck driver.

@@cramsa perhaps the top 1% of truck drivers earn as much as the average dentist. But we have an uncapped earning potential. The student debt is a problem but if you're smart you can have it paid off in under a year. Sidekicker, I have dozens of friends and colleagues who will graduate with 0$ in student loan debt.

@@cramsa BLS underestimates healthcare providers salaries for example they say the average doctor makes 208k even family practice docs are making 240k ish average and they’re one of the lowest paying specialties. For general dentist especially experienced they make closer along the lines of 220k
