Finding show quality Birmans in Canada is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I would want 2 kittens so bad for ever since I spent a summer in France I fell in love with the breed . Turned out that it was the most popular breed there for everyone that I met that had a cat had a Birman.
Finding a show quality Birman is hard in itself, finding two at the same time would be pretty rare indeed. Few are available because the breeder will most likely keep them themselves.
Birmans are no. 2 on the most popular breed cat in France (no. 1 is Maine Coon) according to LOOF...That's why we are driving 2hrs from Zurich, CH to get our pedigree boys as papa is the champion many times with LOOF
How do I find a reputable breeder in Northeast usa? Seems so few kittens around? Ear trouble, so no flying for now, or I would go anywhere in the world to find a kitten. I fell in love w blue Birman years ago when I cat sat for a friend each winter. Zephyr was so sweet playful, gentle, and gorgeous. I promised myself so day I would have my own Birman. Dimply adore the breed, they are indeed puppy like
I recommend you try www.birmansusa.com there is a breeder register on there so hopefully you'll be able to find someone within a fairly sensible travelling distance to you. Good luck with your search.
You will reduce the amount being shed by daily grooming, but you will never be able to completely prevent the hair being shed onto furniture or flooring.
I always have scratching posts available and they learn to use them by watching their mum. I don't have much trouble with the cats clawing furniture except for the wicker stuff in the conservatory.
Can anyone tell me what Birman kittens like? My cat went missing and at this point he hasn’t come back so I am highly considering a Birman kitten to help me feel less lonely as I struggle with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and autism. I would love a cat that is cuddly, but I know that varies by more than just breed. I guess I just want a general analysis of Birman kittens?
Birman cats are generally very people orientated, they like to be involved in what you are doing and are usually close by. They are playful yet quite lazy, cuddly and clumsy, some can be quite talkative. Although longhaired their coats are easy to maintain and usually they enjoy a brushing session. They are best kept as indoor cats as they have no road sense and will walk up to anyone making them an easy target for theft.
These have all gone to new homes now. Depending on which country you are from your best bet it to look for the breed club. In the UK, there are four clubs for birmans, but the main one is the Birman Cat Club. Each country will have their own club, and most list breeders on their website.
Depends if a Birman cat will fit in with your lifestyle and what you want from a pet. Birmans make great family pets, they like to be involved in what you are doing.
U should if u don't work a lot or work from home or (probably ) get two Birman. If u don't have time to play with them I suggest u don't get one.BUT if you have children or someone else who lives with that's home when ur not they can keep ur Birman busy
Birmans Best house cats the most dog like of cats follow you every where loyal and intelligent. I find best to have 2 kittens from same litter 2 boys or 2 girls as they keep other company while you out to prevent boredom.
Birmans are the most dog-like of all cat breeds. Trainable and so loyal they follow you around. Adorable!
Agree my 2 Birman cats follow me everywhere around the house.
Birmans best house cat breed in my opinion

iI have had 2 birman cats and they are amazing. I am still mourning my last cat but know I want another birman cat as my friend in the future.
They are a fantastic breed to own.
OMG!!! Love is having a thousand Birman kittens!!!
Oh my goodness, so precious!! 😻😻
So fluffy!!❤❤
I lost mine last month after having him for 11 years. I can't find anyone who breeds them around here
Best place to start is the breed club. Which country are you in?

@@Nicola_Bailey Thank you.
I know this breed sheds. But If I groom the coat every day, will there still be hair on the floor?
You will reduce the amount being shed by daily grooming, but you will never be able to completely prevent the hair being shed onto furniture or flooring.
@@Nicola_Bailey do you have any idea how it's for british short hair?
All coated cat breeds shed, British Shorthairs are no exception.
Curious what you do to discourage 12+ where they start to claw furniture

@Husher5142: also, just trim their claws!! It is so easy to do!!!!!!!!!!

Are you selling them? And if not could you please help me find where I could get one

My favorite breed! Do you breed them?
I do!

I second this! I would love to hear more!
