The SX70 is a good camera but the image quality from the 20 megapixel sensor is not as good as your older 12 megapixel sensor in the SX50. Fine details at low ISO are not great and things get very smudge as the ISO rises. If you brought out an SX80 which had a sensor as good as or better than the SX50's 12 megapixel sensor I'd buy it.
Hello Henry: The camera can send out a video via an HDMI port. You may want to review page 139 of the camera manual for details. Anyone can tell me why this poweshot is cheaper and apparently more efficient than a full frame Camera and better than any tele-photo lenses sold apart ? And about "zoom capacity" so Expensive Tele-photo Lenses has this cpacity (67 zoom max) ? Sorry I'm newbe in Cameras. I only could understand this! But almost making up my mind about purchasing this beauty.
Hello: You are correct that the SX70 HS has a great zoom range. If you are trying to compare this to an interchangeable lens EOS camera you must consider that those cameras provide you many more features and options. In the EOS DSLR camera you will find larger image sensors, more sophisticated auto focus, a wider range of lens options and accessories, to name a few. You may want to contact one of our camera sales agents for additional information on the differences between this camera and interchangeable lens cameras. You can reach them at 800-652-2666 We hope this is useful.
Yeah i'm super disappointed with the image quality and sharpness. Not sure if its the lens or the censor but some of those shots are not acceptable in this day and age. That shot of the bird was wildly out of focus. Why show it?
Keep in mind this video is from 2018, and this is a PowerShot camera with a built-in (all-in-one) lens. We aren't told how far away the bird was, so that could have been a factor in the soft image.
I have 2 previous head injuries so comprehending is not my strong point. If I set the settings in menu to manual focus, then all I have to do is use the rotating ring on top of the camera, am I correct? So what you are saying, is EVERY TIME I want to take a photo in the MANUAL Focus mode, I have to use the rotating dial? If I was taking a picture of an eagle jumping off a limb, I wouldn't have time to use the rotating dial.
Hi, Raymond! Manual focus will require you to adjust the focus yourself. If you decide you want to focus on something other than the eagle or if the eagle's distance from the camera changes, you'll need to make those focus adjustments yourself or else your focus won't be where you want it. We designed our autofocus systems to be both accurate and fast, allowing the camera to get proper focus in a fraction of the time that it takes most human beings to do it, so if you're unsure about doing it yourself or you don't want to be caught off guard, it would be best to turn on the autofocus and let the camera worry about it. Hope this helps!
This camera has a weird image processing once you take a photo, it's like a smooth filter that makes every photo look a bit blurry and soft. I tried switching to raw or going into the camera settings but I coultn't turn it off. I hope someone reading this knows a solution for this issue, it makes the camera inusable for me.

I have sx60hs. I face the same issue. In viewfinder the picture is crisp, as soon as the image is processed, it goes soft. I think it auto noise reduction by the software.

Hi, Ayan! The PowerShot SX70 HS has an optical zoom of 65x. That's the maximum magnification provided by the lenses within the camera. Once that maximum is reached, the ZoomPlus feature can digitally magnify the image by up to 2 additional times. So if you take 65 and double it, the camera has the equivalent of a 130x zoom via ZoomPlus. Hope that helps!
Hi! Astrophotography is less about your equipment and more about your technique. We've got an article covering this topic at canon.us/3V2vOFn and while the information presented was written with an EOS camera in mind, the recommendations for the exposure settings can be applied to the PowerShot SX70 HS. Hope this helps!

I’m thinking of getting it is it still good?
Cool camera. Whats up with the flash frame at 0:19 - this is a full Canon Ad, should likely have better oversight in the post production.
