I can't seem to reply directly to J Schmidt's comment, so hopefully you'll see this. :D Yes, the pool area was free to use, and the waterslide was also. They had the zip-lining available for a fee, as well as the restaurant and swim-up bar.
+Kylea Bowling Glad we could help show off Amber Cove! Did you decide to hang out at the pool and shopping area instead? it's a great no-cost day, with the option to add on a few low-cost options like the zip-lining. :) We're headed back to Amber Cove later this year, and we've booked an Ocean World day pass, just to check it out. But we'll definitely find ourselves hanging out at the pool again afterwards!!
Thank you, I am doing the same exact cruise (same ports) but different ship and my daughter will only be 1and a half so we can't really do many excursions..... just trying to see my non-excursion options. This helps a lot thank you!
+ltcell The pier area was awesome!! We're heading back to Amber Cove toward the end of this year, and we decided to check out the Ocean World park excursion next time around. But we'll definitely be spending some time at the pier area again to see how it's changed and grown... it's awesome!! :D
+carolina santos Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed our cruising craziness. We're heading back to Amber Cove at the end of this year, and I'm excited to see how it's progressed! :D
Do u remember a ball park of the $ for the pool area, did the charge a flat fee to enter, did it include anything? Do u recall what drink prices kinda were?
+Cassandra Rhymer Yup, we actually answered all these questions in our wrap-up video for this series, ha ha... The pool and waterslide were completely free to use. The bar menu offered two mixed drinks at $8 each, which were the rum punch and mojito. Two choices of beer ($5-$6). Shots of rum ($5-$6), vodka ($8-$9), tequila ($8), whiskey ($8), and scotch ($9). They also had something called a "mamajuana" which I assume was some sort of shooter for $5. Small wine selection. And bottled water and sodas in the $2 range. Small menu, but who knows... it may grow over time as the port gets completed and develops more! We'll be back there later this year and can't wait to see how it may have grown! :)
Those demon faces/masks looked kinda scary! I figured out from reading the other comments that they are celebrating DR's Carnival (which is fitting because it's a Carnival Cruise line port)! Ha Ha Ha!! Have you ever been to La Romana in DR? I think this port at Amber Cove looks like a great pool day! Thanks for sharing!!
We haven't been to La Romana, no. Does Carnival go there? Probably not, what with Amber Cove now. We may have to hop a Royal or someone else to get to a different DR port, eh?
+Cheryl Kremer We actually didn't do any excursions at all this cruise. Everything we did was at the newly-constructed cruise terminal, just walking off the pier, and exploring that area. :)
+Marc H We've done some more research on Amber Cove since returning home, as we'll be travelling back there later this year. It doesn't look like there's a public beach within easy walking distance, but it seems that you can get day passes to the RIU resorts (or at least the RIU Bachata Hotel) next door to the cruise complex, which has a pool and beach. We've opted to check out the Ocean World park on our next visit, hopefully combined with more time exploring newly opened shops and the pool area again! :D

So happy I watched before my cruise because now I'm cancelling the excursion we had booked!

Thank you for the video! I'm going in October. I think I'll skip an excursion and just check out the pier area.

Nice video. The mask faces you saw are representative of DR Carnival.
Very informative video. thanks for the video. You guys are too cute!!!

Hello! We are going to Amber Cove on the Carnival Victory in a couple of weeks and was wondering...is that pool free for Carnival cruisers??
Do u remember a ball park of the $ for the pool area, did the charge a flat fee to enter, did it include anything? Do u recall what drink prices kinda were?

Yep - our Horizon cruise in October goes to La Romana...but Amber Cove looks nicer!
I have a question, is anything in your video an excursion or is all of that just available if you walk off the ship and do your own thing?
+Cheryl Kremer We actually didn't do any excursions at all this cruise. Everything we did was at the newly-constructed cruise terminal, just walking off the pier, and exploring that area. :)
Is there a beach walking distance from the Amber Cove port? Thanks.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I really enjoyed your videos. Excellent job all around!
The mask are a representation of the Dominican carnival
Nice, thanks for the info! I knew they were tied into the culture, but didn't want to guess incorrectly! :D
