Thanks KC! This inexpensive mod made a significant difference to my KLX300. With a Delkevic slip-on and this mod, it's pretty dang nice now. I appreciate the tip!
Good vid showing difference of snorkels and u are right removing complete snorkel is too noisy, I drilled holes in my lid also as no difference with unfiltered air going in snorkel
Don't really need any filters in the added airbox "vents" ... same thing as just putting some extra holes in the airbox. Any air getting into the airbox on the dirty side of the filter will be filtered. Anyone cut the long part of the KDX200 snorkel that goes down inside the airbox? ... make any difference?
What is the purpose of the snorkel other than sound attenuation? Certainly if you are in water all the way to the top of the airbox you already have problems that the snorkel can't solve. I've run my KLX 250 without the whole airbox top plate (after market exhaust and carburetor) and other than the noise I did not notice any performance issues.
I’m not an expert on that. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in. I put exhaust on that is more free flowing(air out) , so I installed the snorkel to allow more air flow into the system , to balance everything out.
The pipe & snorkel gave it more low end & winds out a little better on top end, I have no tuner & I’ve been check the spark plug every few hundred miles & it is burning fine on my bike.
Great vid, so how come you bought the snorkel if you already trimmed the original? Didn’t work? Cause I’m thinking of trimming mine, not spending the extra $43. Thanks
No, I’ve been checking my plug periodically since I’ve installed the exhaust & put the extra holes in air box. It’s burning good. Research I’ve looked into shows that the O2 sensor compensates for the extra flow of air, throughout the rev cycle. At idle or just off idle is the only time it may run lean. Again that’s the information I’ve researched.
I did the snorkel with Delkevic pipe , the combo made an improvement all across the power range. I can’t say with stock pipe if it would make a noticeable change. I didn’t notice any change in power while swapping snorkel with pipe , I just wanted a little more air flow to go with free flowing pipe.
Added kdx snorkel only to stock Klx 300. Throaty intake sound. And a perceptible power increase from above idle to around 8000 rpm. It’s not a lot, but noticeable. Prob a 1-1.5 hp increase 2k rpm to 8k rpm. No diff above 8rpm. Interestingly the KLX seems to run rich above idle to redline. Idle quite lean.

Glad it helped! Thanks for watching & thanks for the comment!!

Just take the top plate off to fit, a lot easier

Nice video, but I can’t seem to find this snorkel on Rocky Mountain anywhere? Do you happen to have the link?
Nice bikes
You have to click on oem parts, then Kawasaki, then input 2004 KDX 200 or 220. Then click on air box schematic I believe.
I just searched for this part on eBay and there are aftermarket snorkels that look even bigger than the KDX200 snorkel for $30 US.

Hey KC - I made the switch TODAY from the DRZ to the KLX300 and love that you have videos for it now! Does this require remapping?
I read/hear about some KLX 300 owners simply removing the snorkel that comes with the factory bike. Is installing the KDX snorkel a better option?
Removing snorkel adds a lot of unwanted noise in my opinion, that’s why I went with KDX snorkel. Thanks for watching!
Could you tell if there was an increase in performance at all? Also, do you have an aftermarket pipe? Does this need to be reprogrammed for the mods?

The kdx has a larger opening to let in more air, trimming original does well too, a little more free flowing in air box.
Nice bike man. I have a 18 klx 250, do you know if this snorkel will fit? Thanks
Thanks!! It will work.
Awesome, thanks for the reply
Where did you order the snorkel from, can you link it please
Rockymountainatvmc.com click on OEM parts
So can you run the snorkel without removing stock exhaust
Yes, I run mine on occasion with stock exhaust. Thanks for Watching!
is this snorkel / delkevic combo still working well for you a year later?
Yes, no issues, spark plug color is still good.
@@kcoutside7143 good to hear, thank you. Snorkels went up to $48 now, but seems worth it, especially since I already have the delkevic.
Do you think this will cause lean run conditions?

Me lo puedes enviar a mi pais acá no se consigue
Any obvious power gains?
I did a slip on at same time as snorkel, which did give a noticeable gain. As for just snorkel I cannot answer.
Cool. Im thinking of doing the snorkel and slip on a 2016 250. Do you think the efi will adapt to both these mods and not run lean?
link to purchase please
www.rockymountainatvmc.com use the OEM menu
where can i buy KDX snorkel
I ordered from rockymountainatvmc.com
Use the OEM parts look up for 2004 KDX 220 or type Part# 14073-1577 into the search bar
Did changing the snorkel make a noticeable power difference or runs any better?
