Gearlab could just make different size end tips so people can play with length, or better yet an adjustable loom, I have a Chinese Greenland paddle, it is adjustable in length, I find 220 too short, 230 too long. If I buy a Gearlab paddle, do you recommend I get a 220 or a 230, since their sizes are fixed?
Not sure how to answer this but I based my purchased on my height (5'5") and kayak width (21.5inch) so Regular size Kalleq (220cm) works for me. Ipik is only offered in one size of 219cm w/c close to a regular size kalleq. Thank you for watching.
After a year you still using the kalleq , or you retired it ? Also when I paddle hard with the Kalleq , I feel a slight flexing , that gives a spring feel , I love that , does the Ipik also flex or is harder ?
Hi! I still have my Kalleq. In fact I used it more than the Ipik w/c is too light for my liking and that hollow core is a bit noisy. I think the Kalleq is more suited to my taste. One thing I love about the Ipik is its oval shaped loom.
Looks a great paddle. How does it compare with the Kalleq on the water? Do you find any flutter with it and how is it for rolling? I have an older Gearlab paddle and have also tried the Kalleq and love the extra elegance of stroke - just wondering if the Ipik feels even smoother
It feels smoother and rarely experienced fluttering at all. What I like is its oval shape loom w/c gives more control in handling. Unfortunately I dont know how to roll yet although been kayaking for a while now. Its always wet exit for me :)
Good video! I am in the market for my first Greenland paddle. Have you had the chance to use the Ipik. Is the Ipik worth the extra cost in comparison to the Kalleq ?
The oval shaped and shouldered loom are the big seller for me. Makes Ipik even more comfortable than Kalleq especially for long trips since its also lighter. IMHO it's worth the extra cost. Kalleq is my 1st GP and I alternately use it with Ipik.
