How much would a Merchants' & Planters' Bank of Magnolia, Twenty Dollars, 1833 be?
Hi
🆗️
Bnnn
I like it when it's a good deal for both parties. Way to go Rick!
Whenever a bell rings an angel gets it's wings. Whenever Rick says "Sweet" a customer just got screwed.
See, that's where you get things twisted. The people selling anything aren't customers. Rick is at that moment a paying customer. If they don't like his offer they can leave. They are the ones soliciting a product or item they wish to sell.
@@thebalder9634 facts dude
Rick says this EVERY TIME, “to tell you the truth I have no idea if that’s a great price or not.”
“Let me just touch these notes with my oily hands”
That can't be good for a piece of paper that old! 😧
That's an important part of the appraisal
Bruh when ur dealing with old notes ur supposed to use bare, clean hands. Gloves can damage them. Stop thinkin u a expert when u know nothin about it
Well, he does have to verify them so..
Rick- "I'll give ya like 40 bucks for them, I gotta make a profit"
I swear he has like experts hiding in the back just waiting to come out lol.
😆
My soul hurt when he said " can you take 17"
I starting buying vintage US currency back in 1978 and did so through about 2003. During 2003-2005 my collection was worth about $190,000 (real value, such as what I could sell everything for immediately). I decided to sell everything except a few notes in 2006-2007. If I would have held onto everything till now, the value would have been halved. The market has pretty much dried up for all but the most coveted notes in pristine condition. And even those have plummeted dramatically.
how come
What were your best bills, Steve? I'll know what you're talking about, I know all the bills and am well versed in expensive coins.
Touches the legal tender with no gloves, REEEEE
Yet, that was the expert?!?
I think the coins are the ones arent allowed to touch barehand not paper bills
And that's why Mr Raging Kiwi isn't the expert.
One advice for many money collectors like me, I am a dealer / collector in Malaysia
We do use bare hands to touch the paper money, in order to check is there any fold and to check is it real
If we use glove that is on a very special occasion, very rare people will use gloves
Even the expert paper money guarantee (pmg) that Rick and many money collect send for the money to be authentication use bare hands to check the notes
Hi🦅
Why do potential sellers say "it's worth fifty thousand, but the lowest I'll take is 10,000 ????? " 🤣🤣🤣
22k is a good deal :) Man I love to watch this show before bed. Rick is the man. If there is 1 channel I would pay a sub to on YT, it's definitely this one.
Expert takes them out with his bare hands. I would immediately yell at him.

To sum up, even my friends or associates from money collectors groups do not use gloves to hold notes, and showing us the condition of it
Therefore using gloves are not advised from my point of view, as it is very hard to authenticate the money sometimes
“I now have a bank account with $22k”
Rick: “i’ll pay you $15k”
I always wonder what Rick gets when he sells some of these items. Like these!
The 17,000 offer for both is a slap in the face
Wow. I’m surprised that Rick actually told him that they will sell fast,
Customer: i want $35,000
Rick: the best i can do is $70
I find it annoying that the experts always ask what Rick's concerns are as if they gave no idea what they are there to do.
I am a numismatic and I had a special deal with the cashier at the Texaco station next to my work place. She called me one time in a panic saying she had "counterfeit money". They turned out to be 1950's twenty dollar bills-gold certificates. I was only too happy to swap them out and she was actually relieved to be rid of them.
Rite no gloves wow
Rick : Hey there
Customer : Hey how are you?
Rick : i’m doing great! What’s your name?
Customer : my name’s Jeff
Yeah touch the expensive rare bill with your oily fingers
Wow, this seemed good all the way around. I'd love to see more like this.
He didn't even need to frame them.
Corey: "Hey dad, can you drop me to school today?"
Rick: "Best I can do is drop you at the end of the block, and you have to buy your own lunch."
Rick was dead wrong in saying those bills weren't backed by anything. It was the direct opposite. Every dollar was backed by some part of the economy including gold and silver reserves. The $20 bill there is a Treasury Note. They were called "coin notes" because the bill has "Redeemable in coin" on the front. They were backed by silver and/or gold, whichever was available. One could exchange those bills for coin at any bank on demand, so it's completely wrong to say they weren't backed by anything. Back then, they had numerous types of bills such as Treasury Notes, National Bank Notes, Legal Tender Notes, Gold Certificates, Silver Certificates, etc. The reason why is because every type of bill, by law, had to be backed by one segment of the economy. Gold certs were backed by physical gold, every single dollar. Same as silver certs, same as treasury notes (the greenback).
==
Nationals, which included brown back style bills (one was sold on Pawn Stars to Corey) were backed by the government. The govt would specify how many dollars could be printed of any type. They enacted acts that stated that the US Mint could print $158,921,349 in gold certs, for example. They came up w/ weird numbers like that. Every dollar had to be backed by something. It wasn't until Nixon took us off the gold standard that we went to the fiat money system of today. Now every bill is a Federal Reserve Note. Up until 1966, there were also treasury notes w/ red numbers and seal. They printed 1966 series $100 treasury notes in red and in the 50s and back, there were red number/seal $2s and $5s. Most of the red bills went to Puerto Rico, but they do exist. That was the very last kind of bill that wasn't the federal reserve note that we have today. The 1966 $100s were the very last non federal reserve note. If you find a $2 bill from the 1950s w/ red numbers, that was a treasury note, NOT a federal reserve note, get it?
This seller is cool, he allways Cut a deal !!! ❤
Expert with no Gloves 😏
So wait. A man gets given 22,000 bucks in cold hard cash, IN LAS VEGAS, and he's gonna put it in the bank? Liar.
Item: worth 5k
The title: MEGA MONEY
Looking at how Rick went from $17,000 to $22,000 that easily, you could've gotten another $1000 out of him
Rick: Hey how's it goin'? 😆
every time hahaha
“These were not backed by anything”
Just like modern money
What's up with the background music? It gets a bit annoying to be honest.
I swear it’s been in the newer videos lately
Expert: Takes out old and rare paper money that is high value with his dirty, greasy hands!🤣🤣 wow.
Good video, but i know this sell for a long time. I can't find any new pawn shop buy videos.
So much signature flops. Always use a different forms.
should have offered him 70 bucks right off the bat
It makes me cringe when the experts touch books/money without wearing GLOVES !!!
Jack Sherwood why?
@@stephenbarrett8861 Because the oil in your skin can ruin paper of that age.
Gloves give a person less sensitivity when handling paper items so they are more likely to damage them. It is standard practice for professionals not to use them. Also, assessing the texture of the paper by touch is an important check for the genuineness of currency. Hands can be washed.
Ahhh. Why is he touching them?!
They're in a plastic thing meant to protect them
To check if it's real... smh
He been on the show before right ??
Why sell to a pawn shop when you could take it to an auction house yourself?
I have no idea how long it takes to sell something like this at auction, but as you can see, things go really fast at a pawn shop and you walk out with cold hard cash in hand. (I'd bet that they only call in the expert because the History Channel requires them to. I'd bet Rick would do it all on his own if this weren't a show on the History Channel.)
Love it!!!!
Im waiting 4 da new 2021 episodes to come out with da coronavirus masks🤣🤣🤣
So sweet man !!! Wow
Sweet! Poor seller got 🆁🅾🅱🅱🅴🅳
Dude walking in with paper money and not having it graded first.🤦♂️
Can’t stand when he starts running down everything so he can weasel the price down. And you KNOW his appraisers are on his payroll, as it were. That’s why I quit watching the show.
That's the same thing the appraiser does when you trade your car.
How many times will this video be reposted
Why are people so lazy, looking for instant gratification. I would've sold them on my own and cut out the middle-man. People give stuff away cheap because of easy money.
Auctions, are a big risk. 22k was fair in my opinion. No risk, no hassle, no fees.
How do we even know this is real?
@@RJB I'm also referring to real life. People go to stores and expect a big payout.
@@randyt1202 Playing it safe isn't always the right answer.

Expert handles money without gloves 😑

It had plastic on it to protect it
@@jj9487 good observation, at some point they need to actually feel it to make sure it's the right texture
So he traded some paper currency not backed by anything for more paper currency not backed by anything! 🤣🤣🤣
what would you give for 1886 silver dollar allmost ment
Why didn’t the guy take them to auction? Those probably sold for at least $40k, so a big profit even after fees
Cash is king
How you ever wondered how Joe knows all of these random things?
bruh, this is a reupload
@laser325 wut? he's still alive xD
''Sweet!'' ah....that means you got robbed
Incredibly rare, let me manhandle both of them.
He has to check if they're legit
@@billyoregan3920 I get that but most "experts" who handle rare & valuable items like art, money, etc. know that just the oil from your hands can devalue an item relatively easy.
Actually with paper money and most paper documents its recommended to handle with clean hands instead of gloves
Am I the only one who noticed the humongous pair of black panties framed on the wall at 2:15? Who would they have belonged to, in order for them to put it on their showroom floor?
Dude could have asked for 1k more
Get your grubby little hands off the bill!
Went in asking $35.. Came out with $22... $13k down the drain.
Haven’t they uploaded this before 😂
Of course they have. This series has been dead and off the air for like three years now...
How much for the repo buddy l truck $$$?
He should’ve held out for 25k I think he would’ve got it
Expert- Let me take these notes out with no gloves. Then complain about fuzzy stuff
litsolar, if you know what I mean.
For the love of balls, don’t touch centuries old things, especially paper without gloves.

Monopoly money
Lol pawn lowball everybody.
Got ripped off
It wasn’t backed by anything but what is the dollar backed by now?
The Fed and plenty of debt...
The only thing that really backs the dollar is oil (petrodollar), still the world's reserve currency, and the power of taxation on the American ppl.
Bitcoin is t he feature investing in it now is the wesest thing to do now espe cially the current rise
Despite all the economic crisis this is the right time to start up an investment
Stocks are good but crypto is more profitable
I wanted to trade crypto but got confused by the fluctuations in price
That won't bother you if you trade with a professional like Mr Cody Webb
I heard that his strategies are rea lly good
wow but this show makes 50 thousand a month they dont make much saleing or buying things
Backed by nothing😂 just like today’s money
Super+++++++👌👍
kill the background music. so annoying

If you own something like these then you know all about them. So quit the history lessons Ricky.
It's for the audience isn't it?

Nobody was shocked...
now another collector can buy them. how interesting. maybe they should start another pawn shop show to see if they would want to buy some of the items from this pawn shop show
