It's totally gross that people are comparing vaccine mandates to Jim Crow, the Holocaust, Apartheid, etc. You can't vaccinate your skin color away. You can't vaccinate your ethnic heritage or religious beliefs away. You can't call a vaccine mandate discrimination when it's something literally expected of everyone (barring certain age groups or medical conditions, but they're the ones who depend the most on everyone else getting vaccinated. They're the reason why vaccine mandates are so crucial. The exception literally does make the rule, in this case).

While abortion affects the life of not a single walking/crawling human who has any life experience or intelligence above instinct. Protecting existing humans that already exist is maybe a noble goal. Protecting the creation of one more in a world already flooded with us maybe not so much.
I 100% agree with your conclusion, but religious beliefs are a choice. You can decide which version of your religion you'll follow, and how devoutly, or you can decide that other beliefs make more sense. None of those decisions requires anything more than a mentality shift- they don't require a physical change in your body (like skin color or medical statuses do) or a change in scientific facts (like the changes we've had to navigate during the pandemic).
The irony is that most of the people drawing these comparisons would be on the wrong side of those historical atrocities! They're all for discrimination when it benefits them.

I'm a physician with a LOT of friends who are anti-vax and anti-mask. They will go off on you on social media, but when I speak to them on the phone or in person, they just hesitate and can't give any reasonable info.
That's because most people can't think for themselves (no offense to your friends), but, in all fairness, there are people like that on both sides of every arguement.
My doctor had to put signs up around the office disclaiming that anyone who was physically or verbally abusive toward the staff would be escorted out of the office and potentially prosecuted. When I asked him about the signs he said, "We've had several incidents of patients become aggressive and unruly towards staff when we informed them that they tested positivie for COVID-19. They accused us of lying to them, spreading propraganda, etc. and a few of them got physical with staff, and we're very much over it." And my doctor is Conservative! I was just floored.

Both times I’d asked the sender if he read it before he sent it, he said “no.” So, I followed up with referenced statements from the articles he had sent and asked him what he thinks when it says the exact opposite of his point and he thought he was smart by replying with, “We’ll see.”
