Amazing video 😍 I recently bought a camera and I’m based at JFK. We get some nice planes but the scenery in Vancouver is just incredible. You’re one of the people that convinced me to start spotting. I’m loving it so far. Keep up the quality content 😄
Amazing, I have gotten into spotting in 2022 stuck with the 18-55mm and still with it I know it's a small camera but I made use with the most I can will be upgrading to the 55-200mm this year hopefully so looking forwards to it!
Oh, man! That's inspiring. I found you via the Prince of Travel blog. I did some aircraft spotting in my country and some other EU countries. Not professional just kind of small hobby besides the rest. Would be great to go to spotting in YVR with you if it's possible since I live now in Vancouver. Good that I didn't buy a 70-200 in Montreal 3 weeks ago. So starting hunting (not available in BB) for 200-600 as it has been on my bucket list for a long time (I was using Canon ecosystem and switched to Sony, now buying lenses again :D) Thanks for sharing your story!
Beautiful videos... Well done. I lived in Tahiti when the Concorde was still flying, we used to watch it take off from the air force base canteen, I wish I had a camera then...
Really depends what you’re shooting and in what conditions. A good starting point in sunny weather is f8, iso 100, shutter of 1/800 and adjust from there
@@onemoreweektogo mostly I’ll be doing day shots in sunlight! I may be either close up to plane right before landing and or shooting from The distance! I’ll be mainly shooting videos!
@Onemoreweektogo thank you so much keep posting you do amazing content! I will be mainly doing Video to start and on sunny days! If I do video do any of those metrics change? Thanks
Video is quite a bit different. The shutter speed should depend on your fps (1/50 for 24fps, 1/120 for 60fps, etc). You may want to invest in a neutral density filter if you’re going to be shooting on bright sunny days.
@Onemoreweektogo I have the Sony a7iiiS and Sony 200-600 G and a. Tripod been a fan for a while have been using an iPhone hence videos on my channel are all iPhone based. Thanks for motivating me to get out there never shot with pro gear but excited to do so !’ So I’ll do 1/120 since I’m shooting at 60 fps and most days are sunny and or mild sun ☀️! 100 ISO and F8 to start? Thanks again! I heard of polarized lense cap! Is that same as what you are referring to deflect sun? Thanks

It doesn’t look like a natural 4K. Haha it looks so cold. I think you should’ve told us about the lens and settings before you did shooting. Would’ve made more sense from the montage to your house. Maybe the Tahiti shot at the end, zooming out from your computer screen. I know you couldn’t do that at the angle you shot it at. Very much enjoyed watching your workflow. Overall, I enjoyed the video. I feel that your sense of time in your videos is different compared to mine. I don’t have anything against it, I would cut quicker but it’s your creativity and your choice I will not tell you to change it. I think the narrative of the video was much better than your last. It flowed better and we got to see more of the final product. Also clean your room man. Anyways, happy Saturday big bro. Good one :)

I'm just getting started doing this. Could be addicting. I'm also doing slow motion video, 120fps using Olympus E-M1 Mk III and the 40-150mm f/2.8 with the 2x teleconverter. Gives me the same FOV and f/ratio as your Sony telephoto (160-600mm f/5.6 equivalent). I'm near DFW airport, where we have several UA-cam plane spotters livestreaming. Liked and subscribed!
Hey! Depends what you mean by close, and depends at what angle you're shooting them from. If there is a lot of movement and you need to follow the plane quickly, I suggest starting off with a higher shutter speed like 1/640 or 1/800 to make sure it is sharp. Usually a nice sharp aperture would be around f8.0, but if you want the background to be more blurred you could use something lower like f4.0 or f5.6. It all depends on the lighting conditions though.
Loved this video!!! Beautiful shots of the liveries! Random Question for you, what aspect ratio are your YT videos in? Your style looks unique compared to some other 16:9 vids 🤔
@@onemoreweektogo Interesting, they seemed a bit longer from side to side but that may be a result of the black letter box 🤔 I appreciate your reply! 😊
I'd recommend an APS-C DSLR from Canon or Nikon. Something like a Canon 80D or Nikon D3500 are very affordable cameras that are still powerful enough for plane spotting.
Its a Rode microphone, (not sure the exact model, a micro maybe?) and the fuzzy ball is a wind filter, keeps a lot of the wind noise from being recorded and all around better audio outside
Hey I’ve got a question for you. When you’re taking the pictures, how do you perfect the focus? I tried auto focus and it’s too slow but when I try manual focus, 3 out of 10 pictures came out perfect. The other 7 is just not clear enough. Any tips on improving this? And also do you think a stand helps with photography?
I think you definitely need to rely on auto focus for fast moving objects like airplanes. You just won't nail the focus reliably for plane shots unless the plane is not moving. There might be something wrong with your auto focus settings. Without more info unfortunately I can't really help you too much. A tripod would help if you're doing long exposures of aircraft, or if you're doing some panning on a fluid head tripod, or more videography.
