I spent 15 months on deployment as part of a protective service detachment for a transition team in Baghdad in 2006-2007 and can confirm the stories of tigers and lions roaming the streets of the city, we actually HQ'd at a place called the zoo just south of Baghdad international airport and there were claw marks from a tiger that belonged to the royal family on the walls of the buildings. Story is that the tiger roamed the southern portion of the forward operation base until UN forces decided that killing it was the only option to keeping the coalition forces safe from tiger attacks.
