We have a new D9,constant regen fault codes, always emission codes popping up,I’ve accumulated 39,000 hrs operating dozers,8’s,9’s,10’s about 1200 hrs on our D11R
The body of the new Cat dozers are good (D6-D8), but the cab needs more work. Seat mounted controls vibrate and shake unlike previous designs. That filter housing behind your left shoulder is annoying blocking your view on left. Yes I know it has a rear camera. New sliding glass panels retain dirt which gets trapped between the panels and scratches the glass. Too much glass on the sides, too tall. The front doors are very thin. Tight behind the seat no room for extras. Lots of leg room though. Caterpillar needs to return back to the older cab design.
@ironman3406 Sometimes you will look over your left, myself and other guys I have seen operating cat dozers do it. This new filter design blocks your view completely looking over your left. Sometimes it helps to change up your look behind direction because it wears on your body with the same direction for long periods.
@ I’m operating it right now,yea the cab filter housing blocks the view,we have cameras installed forward and back,my whole body has been beat up pretty good after years of vibrations, jolts, looking over my shoulder, retiring in march
The rip to depth feature is absolutely phenomenal.

Through the years,I’ve trained over 60 operators, the older Cats we could squeeze the trainee in the cab,not our new D9,no room
With the angle of the seat who looks over their left shoulder?
