Guys, Kentucky Club Aromatic was one of my first tobaccos, way back in 1979! Used to get it in the little plaid pouch. Loved it, miss it! That batch you have there is MY AGE😧😧😧. I am now officially envious! Great video, fellas.

I started smoking pipes in 1961. About the only Tobacco’s I had access to were Prince Albert, Sir Walter Relights, Kentucky Club and Mixture 79 and Middleton Cherry Blend. If I remember correctly Tinder Box came to town with Custom Blends in the mid 1970’s. I think most of the Drug Store blends were light aerobatics. Really enjoy watching when you guys get together. I don’t feel so old!

Hi guys: glad you like the tobacco. I would have to try it to identify the flavoring. You are right on about the change in flavors of everything. I remember funny bones, ho hos, moon pies, suzy Q's. Most of that stuff tastes completely different to me these days. In fact in High School I knew a Suzy Q but I don't recall how she tasted. LOL. Send me a little of the dry and a little of the rehydrated. Being old and crotchety (turned 70 this last Spring) a website is not on my bucket list. Face to face retail is all I have ever done and it works just fine. John, one of my customers at the Tinderbox years ago would reuse his pipe cleaners until they were black as night. We used to accuse him of treating each pipe cleaner like a 20 dollar bill. Actually I found the tobacco on Pipestud's site back in the summer. Our Tinderbox was located in Portland, Oregon. Which, by the way was almost named Boston, Oregon because two of the founders of the town flipped a coin for the right to name the place.. One guy was from Boston, Mass. and the other guy was from Portland, Maine. Obviously the Portland guy won the coin toss. Keep puffin.

Another installment from the Popes of Pipes!!!!! Great review of the classic OTC Blend. I puffed Kentucky Club just prior to my 40 year love affair with 3 Star Blue. Back in that era, Iwan Ries had a compaired to chart in their catalogues. Blue was 'similar to' Edgeward G Robinson.... I often wondered if he was the grandfather of that crew that got lost in space../ anyways, M79, Kentucky Club and several others were listed as a comparison . Great vid guys and I nominate fro Emmy Awards as best production for a on location Pipeumentary!!! Now as for that freezer, the problems are as follows, ! the canuter valve is stuck wide open. It located directly opposite the exahust voltage control module.. Easy fix, just adjust the Tesla wave to zero and viola!!! fixed.... in laymans terms.... unplug it. Best regards!!! Tony P!!!!! p.s. Well it's not as easy to get this old stuff as you may think. We are blessed with folks who send us this stuff to sample. There's probably something you have access to that we can't get here in the U.S., so it's all relative I'm sure!
Well not talking from a super lot of experience because iam sure i would considered a baby to u guys but i was addicted bad to chewing tabbaco for a number of years years ha ha like allmost a fourth of the years ive been alife i have found that with pipes and vapeing iam more addicted to the flavor and just the act of smokein if that makes any sense than iam the nictatine and sarge squirrel and dumplings are delicious no joke it is quite popular here in Arkansas where seeing snow is becoming about as common as seeing a bigfoot another words not that often

Hi Alvin, welcome to the club! I think you'll find that most pipers here use mason jars for any long term storage of tobacco. Any issues with dried leaf is handled with moisture disks or packets which are placed in the jars.
I've noticed this too, about things not tasting like they used to. Are you familiar with Vernor's ginger ale? As a kid, that stuff had a real ginger kick to it. Just sniffing the bottle opening would make my nose tingle like crazy. They still make the stuff, but nowadays it just doesn't seem to have that same punch! Have the flavor of these things really changed that much, or do you suppose it's possibly our aging tastebuds? Discuss...
No, the tastes have changed. In so may items, manufacturers have been forced to remove "bad stuff" from the original ingredients. In other cases, I suppose it's replacing expensive ingredients with newer less expensive ingredients created in the lab.

Maybe Vernor's couldn't afford real, fresh ginger and had to substitute an artificial flavoring😩 Too bad about Tonqua (?) beans, too. I'd love to try an old-style blend with that flavoring in it. On a side note, you may have read that Canada Dry is being sued because their Ginger Ale lacks real ginger as advertised. You can file a claim and receive up to 5 dollars LOL.

Yep, that stuff was garbage but it was pretty much all I knew back then. For me, I want an aro that doesn't walk all over the taste of the tobacco. Stanwell makes several such blends like Jubilee and another Vanilla. I can highly recommend Lane HGL which is an English/Aromatic. The taste and room note are fantastic.
Matches860, I also look for aromatics which it's toppings complement the tobacco rather than overwhelming the whole blend. I'll definitely look into those blends Thanks for the recommendation, Cheers
