    I have been watching your videos for a year, and I can say your channel has enlightened me for my journey to become a Pathologist in the USA as IMG ( I’m from Colombia). It’s easy to find information about The Match but not about Pathology residency and attending life, which I believe is so much more important. I just want to say thank you, and best luck in your future endeavors.

    Thank you, Dr. Wang, for keeping us informed and sharing your experiences! I am a research-oriented IMG and about to start my postdoctoral fellowship at MGH. After research, I want to specialize in pathology, and it is wonderful to hear about your experiences on this journey! I wish you success in your work, and please keep us updated!

    8100 cases definitely is heavy workload. 8100/260 (work days) is around 31 cases a day. Also for examples in some IBD biopsies there are subsites A-E from cecum to rectum and this also only counts as one case. Keep up the good work.

    Given the year you've worked, if you could take it all back and go to a private institution instead of an academic one, would you?

    I am interested in the salary in 10 years as an academic pathologist. Are those 8100 all small biopsies or resection cases and liver? How many hours do you work every day?

    • @Baking_MD
      @Baking_MD  11 місяців тому +1

      Currently, if I had 10 years experience, my salary would be around 300k. I do everything from biopsies, resections, liver explants, and consults!

    If the work continues like this, would you consider a transition to private practice? All about what makes you happy ofc! Just seems very burnout-inducing to do twice the work for half the money longterm.

      I have to admit, during the worst weeks, the thought about leaving and doing private goes through my mind. But in the end, I love doing GI only and teaching!

    I think medicine over all is incredibly taxing. Every field is exhausting. MS4 Applying internal medicine… excited and equally scared.

      You sum it up well. It will be scary until you are 2-3 years into working as an attending. That's when most attendings say they start getting comfortable.

    • @Baking_MD
      @Baking_MD  11 місяців тому +1

      I would say I had a pretty not normal first year experience. For most people, I'd say the work will be much lighter, so please don't worry too much about it.

    What is the expected salary in second and third years as attending?

    • @Baking_MD
      @Baking_MD  9 місяців тому

      It all depends on where you are practicing. Generally speaking in academics, it's a 2-3% raise until you get promoted, which is accompanied by a larger raise. In private, it's all based on how well your group is doing. If doing great, large raise/bonus. If not, no raise or possible pay cut.

    hello dr is pathology residency work from 8-5 and no night work or night on call

    • @Baking_MD
      @Baking_MD  9 місяців тому

      Pathology residency can be 8-5 while you are on CP. When on AP, most of the time it's around 9-12 hr days. There will be overnight call. Pathology residency isn't like neurosurgery, but it is not as easy as some people think.
