Gaming Delight presents Pac-Man, a maze-chase game where a round little guy munches on dots. A game that brought more women into arcades. A game that inspired many other developers. A game that began its development with a pizza. We'll also be talking about Atari's port of the game for the Atari 2600.

I think Pac-Man was the first proper lead Video Game character, and Ms Pac-Man was the first female lead Video Game character.
No argument there. Before those two, you pretty much had mainly unnamed individuals, ships, paddles, and the like. You basically were playing you in whatever occupation you played. Pacman arrived with an actual character not representing you at all, and actual character named ghosts and personalities.

Yeah, i agree with you.
Before Pac-Man it was mainly representations of ships, cars, tanks, etc.
Taking on the role of a proper chatacter made the player invest more care into saving them and therefor more time playing.
A wise choice indeed.
