Don't be too disheartened about the tomatoes Luisa, it is nothing you are doing wrong. The blight tends to come at around this time of year and warm damp conditions are ideal for it. I also had to harvest mine up quickly as it appeared in my greenhouse. You did the right thing in taking them all up. Green tomato chutney is one option and you can also fry the green tomatoes, they are quite nice. I bet they would be super tasty with your Padron chillies 😋. But if you wait they will also turn red in time, leaving a banana with them can speed up the ripening. I have to mention that your Dahlias looked so lovely. 👍🏼

@@owenp65 Thank you! Yes it is unfortunate with blight but luckily the green tomatoes started maturing quite nicely after all, so the loss what not as big as I first thought. The Dahlias are looking so pretty still. I cant believe I planted them late and did absolutely nothing to them. I now totally understand why you like Dahlias so much! 😁😍

Lol, shhh 🤫 don't tell everyone 😄. If you have some favourites from this year you can store them overwinter somewhere frost-free and then split them or take cuttings in spring to increase your stock. 👍🏼😉

Don't give up with the tomatoes 😊 Mine were a disaster for a few years. I tried some old varietes and some hybrids. I kept trying, used mulch, planted them with neighbourhood of different plants and cut off an excess leaves - you WILL succeed ❤

Wow, what great flowers to start with! Especially the pink and red tones in combination (0:40)!!!!🌺🥀🌸
It may be that the tomatoes don't like the fact that they don't have a roof over their heads. They always say that tomatoes like wet feet, but not water from above. All my friends in Sweden always grow their tomatoes in greenhouses. I think that's the better choice if you live in Scandinavia. I'm sure you'll have a greenhouse at some point. I wish it for you 🙂
What makes rowan berries so sour is the parasorbic acid. It's also unhealthy. It goes away when you cook them, so it makes sense to prepare (cooking/heating!!) them in two ways: the unhealthy part goes away, and that's also the part that doesn't taste good.
You have such a great harvest! 👍By the way: the leaves of the beetroot are just as healthy as the beetroot itself. There are some good recipes for what you can do with them (the leaves) - apart from in salads. For example, steaming with garlic, and so on.
I think Nico could be a good gardener 🙂
Have a great time, until the next video. 😘

Yeah the tomatoes definitely would probably do much better in a green house. Interesting fact about the unhealthy acid that the berries have. I know many people but the berries in the freezer also before they are cooked. I still have not tried the beetroot or carrot leaves all though they are eatable. This year the beetroot leaves did not look that apetizing either, since they had an infestation of flea bugs in the beginning of the season but I would love to try them steamed with garlic. Sounds delicious! 😋Atvyhe moment Nico wants to become a pilot. 😄Take care Diane!

I lost all my tomatoes this year in Sweden as well. This was a "year without a Summer", since it rained too much, and tomatoes and potatoes can easily get blight if there is too much rain. I think that next year I will plant my tomatoes in a small greenhouse instead.

Täällä Suomessa laitetaan muutama omena tai sipuli tomaattien kanssa pimeään kaappiin tai paperipussiin. Näin kypsyminen edistyy nopeammin. Vihreissä tomaateissa on glykoalkaloideja. Se on myrkyllistä, joten vihreiden tomaattien syöminen tai valmistaminen ruuaksi ei ole suositeltavaa. Kypsentäminen vaikkapa Siskolan omenoiden kera on järkevämpää.

    • @savingsiskola

@@Rita-pp2jo suurin osa tomaateista kypsyivät melko nopeasti, joten ei tarvinnut käyttää vihreitä.😊👍
