  • The Caterham Seven 360R, the ultimate track weapon or the perfect daily? How about both. The 360R offers punchy performance, frugal fuel economy and some practicality all while having head turning ability. On track or in town, every moment is a fun moment - but just HOW fun??

    When I tried a pull away like you started your film with in the 620R I snapped both drive shafts !!!!

    Loved your practical, no-nonsense review of the excellent 360R. What a beautiful car & the fun that you obviously had came over in spades! Thanks too for detailing the 'extras' & coming up with a final speced price. In this world of electric cabriolet roofs your review left me wondering just how tricky that roof assembly would be...but with a car so retro & gorgeous who cares about modern electronics!! I want & will have a Caterham 7!!

    Huge love for what you did. I own a 620R and would never consider driving it distance but you've inspired me to plan a road trip in mine now! Thanks.. :)

      I would think that anyone remotely mechanical could install softer Shocks and Switch up the Sway Bars in very little Time .
      Also if not doing that the a change of tires to some higher profiles could also soften the ride.

      For sure. I think it’s not too uncomfortable anyway, if you’ve not got the track seats at least..

      I ve just done a 2500 mile trip around France with my wife in my Caterham. It was very enjoyable, and with an "E" bag on top of the boot you don't even have to go Commando!

    The trick to avoiding the "wuss" workout is just to learn to creep very slowly and then start turning the steering wheel. That takes most of the load off. You will need to be in control of your clutch foot first though lol.

    I'm looking to get a 360R shortly, i'm torn between getting the SV body and the standard. Whilst I have heard the SV produces more understeer on the track I am worried the standard body will just be too small for weekend journey's. Any tips? I want to use it 50/50 as a weekend car/ track car

    • @TheAutoDad
      @TheAutoDad  5 років тому

      The SV gives you considerably more comfort for weekend use, but I’ve read from owners about understeer on track. I didn’t experience it, very nimble car, but I can understand the physics behind it. If you want it for both, I’d say go SV, else you won’t want to drive it anywhere except the track I think.

      @@TheAutoDad Yeah that's what I was thinking. I know that bookatrack down in donnington rent these out for a day for about £200. I think I might ask to test drive both to get a better idea before committing!
      I noticed that you have the more comfortable seats rather than the composite (which I think are standard with the R pack?) do you find the comfier seats hold you well when cornering?

    400 plus miles for a gig? That must have been a pretty well paid one..LOL but I guess any excuse to drive the Caterham.

    • @TheAutoDad
      @TheAutoDad  6 років тому +1

      If only it had been well paid. Haha! It was worth it, made the journey there and back as much fun as the gig itself.

      @@TheAutoDad maybe do a comparison to the westfield sport 250 vs the 420R, almost 10k cheaper and more power for the westfield, but generally does not get good reviews from top gear and the likes which can sometimes depend on deep pockets rather than genuine beliefs.... just a thought ;) .

    • @TheAutoDad
      @TheAutoDad  5 років тому

      I'll have to look into getting hold of one, not sure they operate in the same way as other manufacturers.

    Is the 360R the ultimate daily? Or would prefer it just on the weekends? Let me know!

    Should've called it the 321R.

    These things bottom out like crazy! And they break like a cheap toy, total junk

    • @TheAutoDad
      @TheAutoDad  5 років тому

      Yeah, they're rather low. We've just had a 420R come in for review, fun in the wet! I've heard of some drivetrain issues, but only when they've been tracked etc.. what is your experience with them breaking? :)
