Curious that we'll instinctively fluff our shots in the fairway and rough but play an average or poor lie off the tee by just dropping the ball or teeing low.
I went to my local golf shop today and tried every LAB model after one hour I went with a used DF 2.1 In perfect condition. Changed the grip back to the OG grip and cleaned it up. I can’t believe how easy it is to putt..Can’t wait for the weather to get better here in TX… I should have listened to the guys at my local store earlier lol..
I was remotely custom fit 2x, first was for the DF2.1 about 3 years ago. couldn't get on with the size of it and sold it. Last Summer it was the DF3. Sent in my video and they recommended a 72 lie angle. I went with a 36 in. counterbalanced and heavier head. at 5'6" i choke down about an inch or so and get the full counterbalanced feel. got the NN head marking and LAB SS 3.0 17 inch grip. By far the best putter ive ever gamed and ive been playing nearly 35 years. key is getting the correct lie angle otherwise you're throwing your $ away. It takes any manipulation of your hands out of the stroke, and only focus on speed and line of the putt. My DF3 isnt leaving my bag, unless LAB comes out with an insert version like the OZ1i.
There are a good bit of fitting places that fit for LAB! For this we were just focusing on finding the model that best suited his eyes. We do all of our LAB fittings on the SAM Putt lab software. We will be comparing the OZ.1 2 degree and 0 degree next week on it.
Sweeper is still good his right elbow needs to be closer to his side! Look at his right arm in all other strokes versus sweeper. Fix right arm with sweeper he would be money.
Agreed. That's the big issue with sweepers, for a lot of golfers, it does take a bit of time to adapt / find a stroke with it. But once you do they can be snipers
I got a custom DF3, upgraded accra shaft, with the heavy weight option, and i'm really struggling to get the ball rolling end over end... ball jumps off the face wobbly which is really throwing me off, and i'm also struggling with speed control. Did I make a mistake by getting the heavy option???
Most of the time when there’s a skidding issue with Lab putters it’s always seems to come back to ball position being to far back . I would recommend moving the ball position one ball forward. To start . So if you use the buttons on your shirt as a baseline it should be one ball infront of your buttons . Due to the dynamic loft change with the shaft lean . Typically wait doesn’t affect skipping or skidding. It’s more of a dynamic loft issue, which can be ball position or wrist hinge as well as many other small things but after fitting them for as long as I have I would say 80% of the time it comes down to ball position
The main thing the shaft lean will affect is the loft at impact. For Blair, we wanted to get his hands further in front of the ball at impact to reduce the left tendency. So yes, for some golfers, a 0 degree shaft lean can result in left misses. Hope that helps!
Blair mentioned that he wasn't interested in the blade design, just doesn't fit his eye that well so we stuck with the larger head shapes. The Link 1 is an AWESOME putter though!
It's funny he discarded the armlock for distance control. If you hear Bryson talk about his putting, he always says the armlock helped him the most with distance control because it takes the hands out of the equation and he can control the distance just with his swing length. I personally think when people talk abaout feel in distance control is because they try to do it with their hands and not with the swing length. Big mistake there discarding the armlock so quickly I think!
You make a good point for sure and in theory the armlock should be ideal. That being said it can be a very awkward feeling since it's not a putting stroke we are used to. Might have to have Blair circle back to the armlock in the future!
I just received my DF3 and was worried it would feel too muted but it is great. Similar to my previous 2-ball. I was disappointed that I ordered before the OZ was released but not so much now. The face might have been too hot, especially in 6 months when summer green speeds are 11 or 12 instead of the current 7 or 8 I’m playing on.
@@daleal7250 The OZ with the insert was a nice addition to the lineup for the players who felt like they needed a little extra pop off of the face. Excited to test the OZ without the insert when it comes out. Side note: very awesome hear that you are liking the DF3!
problem going with LAB is nobody near me has all the heads to test and get fit for. They have 1 or maybe 2, no armlock and no sweeper. Shame. I am stuck with sweeper DF3 or Mezz max, but who know what head is best and no way to test each.
Blair made the moved to a large putter head and just wasn’t interested in going back to a blade design. Plus he has a left miss tendency so the link just wasn’t really on the table.
This player needs the press it’s the same reason we didt test the link . No point in fitting a player for a product that we already know will not work for their putting stroke .
28:14 - “I hit that one off the heel. Like I almost missed the clubface” mate it came out of the dead center of that putter face 😂 don’t take people for idiots. It’s not hard to go back 10 seconds and see you middled that putt. But also thank you for exposing your lack of integrity and making sure we all know this isn’t an honest review.
Well for one this is not a review of lab it’s just a testing video never did we say it was a review . It was to see what putter he likes the best . I went to the exact time stamp you recommended and while he didt almost miss the face it you stop the video 1/2 the ball is in the heel outside the grey alignment aid . Everyone is allowed to say whatever they want it’s America plus the internet but don’t say it’s not a honest video because we spent our own money / our own putters that we have to pay for to fit with . And our own employees to edit the film .
You're right, when switching to a 2 Degreed press putter, ball position can be a bit awkward feeling. For this test we were just trying to find a putter that looked and felt natural for Blair. Ball position can be tweaked later on. One thing is for sure, he rolled that counterbalanced MEZZ.1 Max pure.
You also never talked lie angle and looking at his miss I think he needs to be 67* lie angle. Looks like you did that before this part. What lie was he?
I mentioned in the video we were gonna put him on sam putt lab to get the lie angle and your pretty close he was in a flatter lie angle than stock His miss is because of his face to path relationship not just the lie .
Mess max with TPT shaft is ridiculous pricing. Almost 1k for a putter. For 1k, the putter better make every putt. That's right, it's a human operating the club. $399 for a putter shaft. Average golfers can't afford stock prices from LAB.
@@demsareunamerican6800 You can buy a LAB putter stock for around $450. This is super competitive pricing for a high end putter. Especially a putter that is made to order and produced in the USA. If you choose to upgrade your LAB putter, you can get the price up to $1,000 but that is with the ridiculous and super cool TPT shaft ($399 up charge). All that being said, these putters are still cheaper than most Scotty Camerons or even Bettinardi putters and you don't have the option to customize these.

Feel so bad for him! Been there buddy

One of the best LAB comparison videos I've seen. Well done and thanks.
Seriously appreciate that! 👊🏼
Thanks Bobbers! We appreciate the solid feedback

That’s exciting have fun! Such a cool putter.
Great video. Putter fitting is as much chemistry as engineering. And practice.
Thanks! And yep, you’re right about that!
How do we get the guy throwing clubs in the background on camera more? He’s a content star 11:32
was thinking the same thing! haha someone find him
I literally laughed out loud when I saw that!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I went old school after fitting.....The DF 2.1 worked the best.....Love my space ship.....
The OG 2.1 is hard to beat, and you're right... it's a certified space ship
Bro that thing will get you to mars
Great job on your video!
Appreciate it Melissa!
Thanks Melissa! Kyle is awesome
Dude didn’t like the 2.1 yet makes every single putt with it 😂. Sounds like me when I first tried 2.1. Needless to say I’m playing the 2.1 right now.
LOL it's such a solid putter if you can deal with using an absolute spaceship

Love the colLAB
Woahhhh it’s only January, don’t waste all your dad jokes too soon! haha
Let us know which LAB Putter you would go with!
I went with the Mezz Max, 38" Counter Balance with a white accra shaft :)
Great video
Appreciate it! Which lab would you go with? 👀
When people ask me how my game is I’m gonna show them this video and show them the guy in the background at 11:32 and say yeah like that.
😂😂😂 kid was dialed
Been there... working on fixing it now
Gone for a CB Oz. Forever leaving my 34inch mezz max short.
The Oz.1 probably would of worked for you in 34 then, the insert is a lot hotter and gets the ball to the hole a whole lot easier
The insert on the OZ.1 definitely feels hotter and some people have stated that they have a hit more “feel” with it, helping with speed control.
Sweeper is still good his right elbow needs to be closer to his side! Look at his right arm in all other strokes versus sweeper. Fix right arm with sweeper he would be money.

Do you know what head weight you went with?
@@LoggerheadGolf I went stock.

I just couldnt get used to it. I might give it a try again
Give it a good go! Just try to control speed with the length of your swing. It takes time, but it is much easier once you get used to it.
Just got fitted for df3. Oz comes off too hot for me
The OZ definitely comes off with some heat

Correct, Blair wasn’t interested in testing a blade putter so we just left it out. Very solid model though!
tuned in to see test of zero shaft lean oz.1. DIDNT TOUCH IT. So same as every other lab review for years..

“Rotate open to closed…” with a Lie Angle Balanced putter?!?!
Rotation and torque in the putting stroke are two different things
Sam Hahn talks about a “cutting the cheese” type of stroke.
He’s wearing shorts and he’s wearing green got it

@ makes it almost point and shoot and helps everyone
@ no question and the insert is game changer and glad to have that as a option.
The insert was such an awesome addition to the lineup! Provides a bit more feedback off the face too.
He’s not a good putter. And simply hitting balls without moving feet is too robotic to get a good assessment.
