We felt that our insurance company really wouldn't approve of that :) Sorry!

Excellent video, thank you! One question, what cleaning solution did you use in the Ultrasonic bath?

      Hi!
I’m not sure where they are available for sale. As a Dive Center we get them from the manufacturer but do not resell them as there are Technician Certifications that have to be completed to work on them safely.
I would recommend contacting AquaLung and seeing if they offer them for sale.

Do people normally only do service every two years? Been a while since i dove, but i use to have it done every year. Ive been looking at buying new gear and i like the idea of the free parts program, however as of right now.....scubapro brand requires customers to purchase a regulator, BCD AND a computer from them, in order to get that free parts program. IMO, thats doing their customers dirty. Aqualung has the same program, but you only need to buy one item, not three and the quality is the same as Scubapro🤷‍♂️.

You are correct about the ScubaPro Program. It was frustrating for us as well when they came out with that. The truth is, the free parts for life program was prob not a great idea from a business point of view when it was started decades ago. You wouldn't expect free life limited parts on your car, you would expect that it would need to be serviced. With how long equipment lasts, it is totally possible for manufacturers to actually lose money on a free parts program.
In fact, when they started to lose money, they extended the service time to every 2 years. That seemed great for the customer but really just passed the losses off to the dive shops who were losing 50% of the servicing revenue a year.
IMO (not our dive centers, just mine) a fair priced, parts kit, like $15 per stage and recommending yearly service would be much better for everyone. The manufacturer doesn't risk losing. The dive shop gets service. The customer doesn't have to worry about it being out of warranty forever if they miss one year (like the COVID year, let alone the last 2 where even getting parts kits in has been a struggle with supply chain issues).
I dive an Apeks. My wife dives a ScubaPro. You're right, they are both excellent regulators. The real key is finding a regulator that suits your diving needs. Talk with your LDS or if you need one, feel free to message me jeff@diveuww.com

@@diveuww ; Yeah, I fully understand that. Honestly though, I dont even really think the customer is saving that much money anyway with the free parts. Im always a local brick and mortar supporter, even is it means spending a little more. However, I contacted a local store recently about a sale Aqualung was running. The stores owner told me that there was no sale and quoted me full price for the BCD, full reg, octo, etc. I was trying to be nice about it because maybe he didn't know about the sale🤷‍♂️. I told him I found the sales on two different websites, but that I'd rather purchase locally. He said well, you'll probably have warranty issues down the road because they are probably not dealers or are selling old stock or returned items🙄. Just to verify, because I'm still trying to give the local business, I called both online retailers AND Aqualung. All confirmed their dealer status and that they only sell used as used and not as new. So the local dude flat-out was lying. Now I don't even trust him at all. I don't get it. He just lost a customer and that of my niece and nephews. I didn't even bother to call him back. Anyway, the recent sales steered me towards Aqualung gear. Thanks for the reply.

@@397coney7that’s so frustrating and sad that things like that are still happening. The LDS should have verified the sale was correct or if it wasn’t but was being offered by an authorized dealer, they should match the price and take it up with AquaLug. The fight isn’t with the customer and AquaLung has always made us “whole” if we had to do that to take care of our people.
Slowly but surely there is a change happening in the industry and hopefully we can get beyond the “internet is a fad” phase that seemed to plague so many dive shops.
Good choice on your equipment and dive safe!
