Thank you for the video, I'm looking for cities across Canada where I can settle, grow a family, and find job opportunities in my field (professional or technical occupation in applied science), but Brandon doesn't seem to have enough data or prospects aren't favorable.
Hey I also live in Brandon and I do like certain things about it. The housing market and the property tax are extremely high. I know it was touched on in the video but I think it needs a little more time spent on it. A home valued at around $570k in Brandon is $4400 MORE a year than it would be in Calgary. There is also a MASSIVE meth addiction problem in Brandon. I've been told that we have some of the lowest prices for meth in Canada. Maybe to offset the property tax?
Chad, thanks for the comment. Property taxes are high in Brandon compared to other cities, unfortunately it seems like a necessary evil here as improperly taxes are the main source of income for the city to operate.
@@RyanShields and we needed to buy that $400k armoured vehicle for the police to battle the meth problem! Edit: It was a good video!! I'm not trying to hate on Brandon or you hahaha
Hi chad, I’m thinking about to study in Brandon but now I got scared about the drug addiction in there, it is dangerous for a young women to live there? Like how crazy are this addicts do they hurt the people? Or what other dangerous can you please tell me. I’m moving alone and so if I feel is a dangerous place I better look for another city. Thank you so much for any information you can share with me.
@@xiomara1869 hey I wouldn't say it's too bad. I wouldn't recommend living in the core part of Brandon and I certainly wouldn't recommend going downtown at night but so long as you aren't messing around with addicts and what not you'll be fine.
@@rajgrewal1567 part time jobs are available but due to the pandemic there are lots of people searching for employment today. In a typical year part time employment is available
Hi Ryan! Thanks for this informative video! Just checked out your website and I see you that you are in the real estate industry. Do you also do rental properties? My partner and I are considering moving to Brandon for pilot training and we are unsure which neighbourhood to start looking into. Thanks!
Lived in Brandon from 2004-2013. Small city and I couldn't get lost. Wasn't easy being a minority and a security guard. You always come across all the racists there lol. Only 1 cop was an asshole that I had to deal with. The rest were cool. Watch out for the slum lord Van-Bi Le I think his name was. You will never see your damage deposit back. No matter how well you look after your apartment. If you do, take pictures. Lots of them. Was on first name basis with pizza hotline. Got in a car crash and they called my brother asking where I was.
Almost zero community oriented spaces. The awful condition of the roads cannot be understated. The worst ive ever seen in any province. Needs to be seen to be believed. The meth problem is evident on almost every street you drive down excecpt for a few of the more isolated neighborhoods. Property tax is OBSCENE for what you get. They give free garbage bins but thats about as good as it gets. Green spaces are few and far between creating a dingy looking little prarie town vibe. The city of Brandon has virtually no income producing establishments so it has sickeningly high property taxes to pay for basic infrastructure and municipal services. The Brandon real estate market's home prices are questionable. Very over-priced for the area IMHO. There are no quality outdoor recreation areas unless you drive for hours and outdoor recreation spaces within the city are rare and most of them are run down and depressing (where are my property taxes going?) Brandon used to be nice but now its a depressing little town that appears to be run by a small group of corrupt individuals that have been lining their own pockets instead of investing in the future of the city.
Pros: -Not too big Cons: - The people are rude and ignorant - The people are narrow minded - It's not Brandon anymore cause of the newcomers - Stickney ave is full of parasites
I live in Brandon, it is a small city, gets really cold in winter. A good place to raise a family.
Born and raised there. Miss it so much.

Perfect size of city. Just be prepared to spend a lot of money on shocks and tires, the roads really suck.
