SUUUUCH an entertaining driver; from the double takedown at COTA to The Hail Melon there's not a dull moment to be found. Also, We have to respect an aggressive driver that's still competitive like him.
One that was missed was the Auto Club practice crash. One of the hardest hits of the year. But damn when you put the rest together, he really did have an eventful year.
This season Ross has solidified himself as my favorite driver. I haven't really had one since Jr left the sport. But Ross's idgaf style is very entertaining.
It's kinda weird looking back at all this stuff. There was this narrative the whole season about Chastain being a wrecking ball on the track, and yeah, he had a few moments where he apparently suffered from a sudden and inexplicable rush of shit to the brain. But taking it out of the context of the time and looking back with fresh eyes, he was just sort of there in the wrong place at the wrong time a lot of the time. Or someone tried to do him dirty and spin the narrative after they realized he wasn't gonna move and spun off of him. There was an extra car running up at the front for a lot of the season where he wasn't supposed to be, and other drivers expected him to give ground in positions where they wouldn't.
I forgot how bad the start of the season looked for Ross with a last place in the Daytona 500 and huge practice crash and spin in the race at Autoclub.
I started the season a Chastain fan, but had other drivers I decided to like so I wouldn't be bored like when I was a Jamie McMurray fan. Turns out I wouldn't be bored
But for real! I was in the stands that day (Denny Hamlin fan) and on that restart where Elliott and Hamlin took a swipe at Chastain in Turn 2, me and another Chase Elliott fan both looked at each other, yelled "Yeah F*CK that guy!" high fived, and went along the rest of the race united in a common cause xD
I know a lot of people hate Ross for good reasons but damn he is the most polarizing figure in the Cup Series right now. He might be what we needed to help build this sport back up. We need personalities again. At least I hope that's what happens. He does need to clean some things up but I hope he doesn't lose his aggressiveness in the process of cleaning up his driving.
I think he's a blast to watch, and probably the most entertaining driver of the current era. Maybe he plays a little rough, and maybe some of the other drivers are better drivers overall, but he's definitely the most fun to watch. I think he's exactly what this sport needs right now.

My new favorite driver ever since Jeff Gordon retired. Ross is so old-school. He is exactly what the sport needs right now. And I hope NASCAR recognizes that and doesn't try to restrict him too much on what he is and isn't allowed to do on the track.
Exactly what happened to me. Hadn't watched much since 2015, was never a huge Chase fan, then Ross lit up this season. Become my new reason to tune in.
Started watching in 97’ and Jeff was my guy. So last few year I haven’t had a driver. Now I’m on board with Rossi. Wish he had kept the 42 number but oh well.
He had a steep learning curve with this new car, new team, and basically being in a top performing Cup team for the first time. He'll be a HUGE threat next year.
Due to his sponser in his red and black color scheme, my dad and I took to calling him Moose this season and with all that he did I think it fits perfectly.
So Chastains season can be summed up 25+ instances 54 cars wrecked. $30 million dollars of torn up cars and his team working 14 hours a day to repair and make sure he has a car for the weekend. Smh 🤡🤡
There was an incident at Nashville where cindric was running into the back of him under caution. Not sure if it was shown on TV, but I was there in person
13:01 - we didn’t know it at the time but this was a sort of precursor to the Hail Melon. Chastain doing something out of the box to gain an advantage.
Michael has 69 career crash DNF's, which is the second highest total in history behind only Richard Petty. Percentage-wise, the driver with the worst wrecked cars to finishes ratio is Greg Sacks, who totalled 47 cars in only 263 starts. Danica had a comparatively pedestrian 26 in 191.
I think most people aren't sure what to think about Ross because he's such a mellow and unassuming guy, but he drives incredibly aggressive at times, and pulls some wild moves.
I was a #5 fan and have not been a fan of no one . Until martinsville 2022 . Im now a Die hard Ross fan . His move was a game changer . I just wish Dale Sr. Could have seen this . I think he would laugh his ass off. And love it! Unless he was in Dennys shoes

i’m still pissed that nascar penalized him in that indy race. he would’ve missed the corner anyway and ended up in the grass so he took the path you’re supposed to when you missed the corner. it’s not his fault nascar made their runoff path faster than the actual track. and this was when i still hadn’t liked him much.

For real fun, do an incident counter for David Stremme in 2009. Could probably get hours of footage out of that one...
