The minigames in this "game" get a lot more forgivable when you realise they're basically made for smartphones. They get a lot less forgivable when you realise that this game didn't actually release on smartphones though.

The bare minimum we ask for is somewhat likable characters, there is not a single good or even bearable character in this garbage.
No excuse can be made that this is just "le silly borderlands game" so therefore all the characters must be unbearable trash. Cope more

@ahhthatsjustgrand6502to be fair you have to have an incredibly high IQ to appreciate the humor of New Tales from the Borderlands. Everytime they reference a fart joke it is a actually a deep statement on the wasting promise of generations as our lives are wasted and go stinky fast. That and the nihilistic comments about student loans reinforce the gennorational struggles of the latest generations as they grapple with a problem that they inherited and it shows a lot about society.
Why yes I do have a fran's frogurt tattoo on me but it is only for the ladies that are within 5 IQ points of me.
It baffles me that some reviews claim this game is so well written and animated.
So? Borderlands has always been love it or hate it.

Their are some smidgen of good writing but the bad writing out weights it alot.

Actually the game has like five endings, one where each of the protagonists dies and two where they all live. So the canon ending probably has them all alive, but you can kill Octavio if you play your cards right.

Love how even in the Tediore mothership there's always 2 guys at most in every scenario
I think it's funny how stalpe face and louie's deaths only happened cause they needed a sad moment and they barely work. We haven't seen staple face since episode 1 and she couldn't get healed because the story needs her to die to be sad. Louie died because the characters were acting stupid and standing out in the open so louie could get shot and save octavio but even if octavio got shot anu could've healed him so it literally happened cause the writers wanted to have sad character deaths.

Honestly staple face was the only death I was sad about. I liked staple face. Though I'll admit. I was more sad that Octavio and Fran lived through the whole thing.

"By My Hand Alone" was probably the hardest thing I've ever done. I basically memorized where the dogs would spawn and kill them as soon as they appeared.
oboe I just want to thank you for the new tales from the borderlands stream uploads they made perfect background noise for me while I'm doing something else. I never even had to check the screen because I could rest assured knowing that absolutely nothing important was happening on it.
You can't even make decisions in this game without it making you redo it how they want. Just make it a movie gearbox, can't even off anu or whatever her name is

They actually used the same animation all the times octavio had to dodge the lasser. Also he literally killed a few tediore soldiers in the first chapter

The issue is that borderlands has always been comedic but when the situation was serious the characters were too. In this literally nothing matters because there's some bad joke every five seconds

Do Tediore soldiers even know how to use their weapons? It would be somewhat understandable if those guns functioned like in bl2 but starting from bl3 they literally fly seeking out targets, bounce/run around or function as an automatic turret! Every gun, not just comedic relief one
I feel like Tediore soldiers are SW Stormtroopers but not even trying to pretend being competent
I watched this for free on UA-cam and I still want my money back .
Just noticed that in the intro art, the Maliwan CEO looks a lot different than he did in the game, where I think they just recycled Katagawa's model.
I also just realized how useless that robot is for an assassin droid.
Diamond Danielle also has an extremely long ponytail in one of those intros, but you clearly see the back of her head in episode 1 and she has short hair. This product oozes incompetence from every pore.
So we all in agreement the original tales from the borderlands is still the best written borderlands story next to 2 and we just want more of that
This game makes me sad because the original was so good.
It's so sad because even with borderlands 2 existing, it has my favorite characters (AI Jack, Rhys, Vaughn, LB, Gortys, Etc.) in the entire franchise. Then this game comes along saying it's a "sequel" when in reality it's very likely gearbox just wanted to keep the Tales name trademarked, so they just shat this out
Tales is the best story with realized characters and grounded story not being as complicated by being overpowered demigods respawning at digital cosmetic stations. Jack is a charismatic villain but story-wise 2 is lacking. Jack not doing anything to save his daughter and Roland dying right in front of our inactive characters is just as silly as it is in 3.
I'd argue that when it comes to story in the FPS side of the franchise, Pre-Sequel has the best writing. You get understandable character arcs for the player and primary NPC chars. Zarpadon is a byronic hero, Jack is a slow reveal of his insanity and still charismatic,and the Lilith and Moxxi betrayal makes sense and paints the vault hunters as the moral gray they are meant to be.
The way the jokes are and the way everyone acts is channel awesome quality.
Borderlands 4 should just be us helping Chet Smith with his Tediore apology tour for being involved with this game

Its still weird to me that they would bother to include a character who suffers from panic attacks... but its a thing you *choose* to do?

Healing crystal that has healed head shots and reattached limbs in seconds fails to heal simple gunshot wound to try and add emotional depth to the game, I guess? Peak dumb writing. If you need someone to die for the story, don't make the story about something that can heal all wounds and bring people back from the dead.
This is the most pathetic “telltale style game” I have ever seen. Literally your choices don’t matter. All characters are unlikeable, the gameplay is horrible. Jokes are unfunny. This game is fail. It makes me sad, because the first TFTBL was SO GREAT.
I like the talking gun though the talking gun and claptrap are going to become best friends in a side quest, watch...

I can't understand how people can say that they liked this game. It's absolutely terrible.
Why was staple face? Why did they make that character?
Or the guy that fucks bugs, or the mercenary woman? Why would you write a story with characters, 3d model them, and then not use them at all in the game?
This series progressively got less views every new episode and I genuinely think it's because this game is so terrible people couldn't stand to finish watching it.

It truly is astoundingly baffling just HOW HORRIBLE this "game" was. By far the worst thing sold to the fans of the Borderlands franchise.
Tales 1 is one of my favourite VG narratives probs ever.
I didn’t know a video game could be this catastrophically bad…actually, I didn’t think anything in general could be this awful and vapid and pathetic.
The people who created this should be tried for crimes against humanity itself.
I, now, live in a state of constant dread, afraid that someone from this team is writing something even worse than this…if that’s even possible.
If it is possible though….
..Mankind wouldn’t stand a chance, nothing in the physical cosmos could endure such monstrous cringe.
