I do call the horses white (I know I should call them greys) but in Mickeys passport it actually says white and Casper does not really have any black hair so I call them both White as it is just easier ahah :D x
Omg this literally helped me so much even though I have a bay. There is so much information which I can use. I never knew you could use baby oil for mud fever, that's really helpful thanks :) Also well done for 6k! Only just noticed!
My horse likes to roll in his tack when I put him in his stall (I put him in the stall when I decide I have to use the bathroom or eat more food lol. Don’t worry the bridle gets twisted 😉)
Me: Oooh I wanna try this Me: *takes horse into the stable and cleans him until he is sparkling* Look at you gorgeous! Me: *Takes out horse* Horse: *Rolls around in the dirt*
it is the universe saying this is your destiny. I suggest you go find a horse rescue and start volenteering and see where it takes you. Even if you are in the city you can help out online. :)
I used to use toothed metal curry combs like that, both in foldable loop shape and fixed large circle with smaller circle inside it, but now I almost exclusively use rubber curries. Just personal preference--you can brush as hard as you want without hurting them, and as bonus, it gives them a skin massage. Especially great for horses with sensitive skin! I've got a rubber curry with short rounded nubs (surface dirt and summer months) and one with long triangular nubs (deeper dirt and winter months, perfect for thicker coats). My horse isn't particularly sensitive but she always stiffened up a little when I used any metal curries, head up and wide awake, then relaxed when I moved on to brushes. She especially didn't like me using them on her ribcage, upper neck, and similar areas with less padding. With the rubber curry combs she kept her head low, whole body relaxed, even before the brushes. If I did a really thorough job, she'd doze off just standing there!
esme, you really are one of the luckiest people to be able to have such a wonderful and beautiful horse in your life your horses and donkeys have first class care, you take such good care of them
I love your videos and your horses ... I have the same problem but different. my horse is a very dark bay so he manages to get every single speck of dust on his coat.. but when I groom him he is nice and clean ... and the other horse that I look after she is a dapple and so whenever I put her out in the field she always seems to get grass stains and it's a nightmare to get out so I used the grass stain remover tip really helpful so thank you ... also if you are looking for a good main and tail conditioner I suggest baby oil ... I have been using my horses mains and tails for over 2 years now and it has really helped .. just remember not to put too much in otherwise their mane will start to go greasy and oily ... I love your videos!Keep up the great work! also, I love your barn 😘xxxx
Robyn Pluto what stain remover do you use I have tried to ask Esme but she never responds. I have a grey and she gets so dirty and I would love to have a stain remover but I don't know what kind to get. Thanks
This is sooooo helpful! I ride a Piebald horse and she's out in the field every day and in England it rains a lot! She loves to roll and run in the mud so her legs get really muddy! I'm going on pony club days this summer and I'm riding her! We have a turn out comp and this really helped!
Great video Esme!!I have a palomino who can't wear a combo rug because it rubs. Yesterday it rain and she rolled in the mud, she ended up with mud dreadlocks and a huge thick cot of mud all over her neck and I couldn't wash her cause it is winter here in australia!! So the problem isn't just with greys!
Isabella Caria Yeah I get that too! I never put a rug on with a neck attachment either as it rubs their mane s' out! Plaiting sometimes helps to prevent the horses dreadlocks look or you could get a horse shower like I have so it is nice and warm :) At least with a palomino you don't get the problem of yellow staining ahah :D
Thank you so much Esme! This helped a lot! You are so amazing. It’s amazing how committed you are to everything. Even the downsides of owning horses. You are definitely a big inspiration to me. So thank you for that
millieteddy 2008 it’s very common to be an English rider in Britain. British people rarely chose western riding. It’s not easy to find a western riding instructor here either.
Amaya Oldroyd alot of barns have hot and cold water mine doesn't so I just let the mud dry and use a curry. Also it helps if you get a winter blacket I know alot of people don't agree but I get a thick winter blanket I live in washington so It gets really cold but the blanket jeeps him warm enough so he doesn't get a winter coat and it helps alot with keeping them clean
that's so good for someone who have a white or grey horse!!!! I know is really hard to wash a white horse ( I haven't white but I know it ) ! Amazing video girl as always...keep going the good work!!! :) ♡
Now I will know how to clean my white horses thank you Esme for teaching me how to clean my horses a better way I appreciate everything you do to make our live easier
Pony Anna .yeah we looked after him very well he was mostly my mum and grandads horse but I loved him allot he was a gelding and he was a liver chestnut (Oakley bubbaling spring. his dad was famous racer!😂😯😯) and sadly he died of colic and old age.❤❤and it didn't come across as rude or anything anyway❤ xox
You saved my life with this video ! Now i dont spend hours trying get off the yellow stains in the legs and body in general ! Thx so much. Keep up the good work 😁
This video was very useful and satisfying to watch!! My gelding is a skewbald (to non-equestrians that’s brown and white) and his white patches are in all the places that mud gets most 😂 his legs, hindquarters, neck and all the brown in in places like his belly and back which is very convenient 😂😂😂
I just found your channel, and I’ve been watching your videos. I’m not only enjoying myself, I’m actually learning quite a bit. Thank you. Best wishes from the U.S.. 🐎😊🐴
Ive got a crazy, rollypolly *WHITE* Arabian who just ADORES rolling. Getting stains off him is hard. Thank you! The Baby Oil tip worked so well! Favorite youtube account ever oml.
Hey esme you probably won’t see this but beau had awful mud fever when we bought him and we used baby oil and hoof oil and used gloves and just massaged a mix of baby oil and hoof oil into his legs then washed it off with the hose after half an hour. We did this for about 2 weeks and it was completely gone he still has a few scars from where his skin cracked but it worked really well ! Xx
I've also seen purple shampoos for horses (kind of like toners) that not only clean but remove brassy tones. So white horses get whiter and black horses go pure black with no brown tones
This is quite recognizable, owning a grey horse myself. Whenever my horse has yellow, brown or green stains on his body, I can get them out using my "poetsblok". I have never really seen this outside of the Netherlands, but it roughly translates to grooming block. It's made of a kind of foamglass, but you can also use lava rock. Within 10 minutes without any water or washing, I can get his body spotless!
Tip for when your at a horse show and have a horse with white! We all have that story where we bathe our horse the night before. In the morning you get your horse out of the stall and he/she has manure stains on their used to be freshly white legs or even a spot from laying down where a sheet didn't cover. Instead of rewashing their legs, USE RUBBING ALCOHOL!! Must be 90% or above. Works great if your in a hurry. Just use a towel or to dry the area (if wet) brush off debris and then pour the rubbing alcohol right on the stain and use a towel to buff it out. :)
Great video I definitely recommend the vetrolin white n brite shampoo at my barn before I got my own horse I had to bathe a grey horse and we used that shampoo
Omg thank you so much for the baby oil tip! Not heard of it before. I have a grey Connemara X who comes in from the field with his legs caked in mud so much at the moment!
hi I really like greys and especially mickey and casper x when I first saw mickey I fell in love on the video , I live his cute little face x ABSOLUTE BEST AND FAVOURITE UA-cam X
What is your stain remover? I would like to know because my horse white spots ALWAYS gets grass stains and poo stains so could you please make a video on the recipe.
Owning a pinto is the same way they love to roll and get dirty all the time. My colt is a grey but he looks like a brown roan at the moment. My pinto loves to fine wet grass spots and it takes for every to get them out, and he also loves to roll in mud. When my colt was shedding he gave me big hugs and it always came out white hairs.
Very well done video. Thanks for sharing your tips. When you say stain remover, what is in that product for those of us in other countries? When last I had a white horse I used something called Bluing, white brought out the whiteness as you washed the horse. I think I may go with another white horse now that you reminded me that with extra effort you can keep them clean. Your video is a definitely a keeper in my "cheval" file on UA-cam. Thanks again. :)
I don’t have a horse, but when I have enough money for one and feed and all supplies, like a trailer and mesh hay nets and all goods, I am going to get one. I want a white so bad, they are hard to keep clean, but I sure do love them ❤️! I may be getting one in A year or so. VERY EXCITED 😆!!!
What product do you use for stain remover or what ingredients do you use to make it? It would be so helpful if you could tell me as I have a piebald that has white legs. Love this video too. 💗🐴
Oh my goodness, I need your stain remover!!! My pinto pony Malakai loves to roll and get dirty and his entire paddock is red clay! love that orange tinge haha, I have a three-day clinic coming up and I do not want to be washing him every morning!!! The mornings are very cold during April in Australia!

CountingStrides my horse is bay 2 and he is the most filthy horse there is and he rolls and usually rips his rugs
This esme I’ve watched this literary 5,000 times
Your so much help to all of us!!!
I hate when the horse rolls in dirt , right after you wash them 😂
tia muniz never fails lol
tia muniz that moment when you spend an hour on your fell ponies legs and they gallop threw the muddy part of the field😐
Amen lol
My horse likes to roll in his tack when I put him in his stall (I put him in the stall when I decide I have to use the bathroom or eat more food lol. Don’t worry the bridle gets twisted 😉)
MY horse does that EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I wash him. I swear to god, he's cursed with rolling in dry dirt while he's all clean and wet XD.
Me: Oooh I wanna try this
Me: *takes horse into the stable and cleans him until he is sparkling* Look at you gorgeous!
Me: *Takes out horse*
Horse: *Rolls around in the dirt*

Two questions... Did u purchase Casper or does he belong to the riding school? Also can u do a video on how to tack and untack a horse 😘 xx
Zaynab Zafar I own Casper and I already have a how to tack up a horse video on my channel
Zaynab Zafar she has
She purchased Caspar she says it in her riding story video
Zaynab Zafar she bought him
Zaynab Zafar ya
The way you waited for them to actually be dirty in a specific way was amazing. You actually produce such good content 👌🏻
like it you are a English
rider
millieteddy 2008 it’s very common to be an English rider in Britain. British people rarely chose western riding. It’s not easy to find a western riding instructor here either.
English is the common type of riding in England, western riding is actually pretty much only in America.
Miranda Saborio don’t forget Canada. We have lots of western and English riders.
A.lilgingerpony xoxo I’m a western
This video is soooo satisfying!!!!!! ILYSM ESME!!!!!
What do you do in winter if it's too cold for you to wash the mud?
Amaya Oldroyd alot of barns have hot and cold water mine doesn't so I just let the mud dry and use a curry. Philip Umbel haha
Loved every minute of it. You inspire me so much❤️
The little horse riding champion Briar awww thank you! Xx
What stain spray do u use ? X
Eve Robinson is stain spray healthy to use? In the video it doesn't show her rinsing it off after either. It just seems odd
I don’t know if it’s just me but I find watching my grey pony turn from a bay into a grey again really satisfying!

The horse gets so clean btw I subbed I love this channel it gives me inspiration 💖🌈
He looks so happy to be clean!!
I had a cremello mare in my late teens. I remember the struggle! But I loved seeing her true color show after a good bath.
I love you and Mickey and Casper so much! ❤ this video was so useful as I also have a grey 😂 so thank you so much! I really appreciate this! 😊
Love your outro btw!♥️♥️
omg Esme your videos are legit goals

Hey esme you probably won’t see this but beau had awful mud fever when we bought him and we used baby oil and hoof oil and used gloves and just massaged a mix of baby oil and hoof oil into his legs then washed it off with the hose after half an hour. We did this for about 2 weeks and it was completely gone he still has a few scars from where his skin cracked but it worked really well ! Xx
I spend hours grooming my white horses when they have stains and they end up spotless thanks to your tips XX thanks so much this esme!!!!
Esme, i love this video! Keep up the amazing work!!!!! :D
This was the first equestrian video I ever watched :)
I love you and your horses yo are doing an amazing works actually you are my favorite UA-camr keep going😍😍😘😘
I've also seen purple shampoos for horses (kind of like toners) that not only clean but remove brassy tones. So white horses get whiter and black horses go pure black with no brown tones
Casper was so proud of his master mud work😂😂
This is quite recognizable, owning a grey horse myself.
I own a white horse and it’s so difficult to get all of the stains out of his coat this was so helpful and made my job so much easier
So useful, thank you ❤️ I got some ideas how to make my horse even cleaner. I wonder if you wash out the soap with water or the stain cleaner?
Tip for when your at a horse show and have a horse with white! We all have that story where we bathe our horse the night before.
