      I heard a mix on a local college radio station a couple of years ago that mashes up perfectly. Hot line bling and Escape, the Pina colada song. I couldn't believe how well they went together...

    The reason why it's blowing up is because It's nostalgic and doesn't have a lot of overuse of sexual innuendo. Has a fantastic vibe to it that young and old can dance to.

    This is a throwback to the late 80's / early 90's when rap and hip hop was all about fun, laughing, loving, positivity...just having a good time! Add a sample from one of the signature songs of the 70's and a feel good hit is born! We need this in the world right now.

    • @debbiegum2226
      @debbiegum2226 10 місяців тому

      Agreed. In the early-mid 80’s my friends and I lapped up every ounce of free-style and early hip-hop we could. Being from Chicago I witnessed the devastation of what Steve Dahl did when he caused a riot at Comiskey Park over his disdain for Disco music.
      However out of those ashes came the rise of House music cuz DJ’s were spinning records at house parties.
      Once songs like “Cop Killer” and 2 Live Crew came on the scene it was all downhill from there and the only got worse. Rock music was no better- especially from bands like Led Zeppelin and heavy metal bands.
      This song is so refreshing and fun to dance to

    Best of My Love definitely has a "vault pass" because I hear it all the time being played over the speakers in various retail/business settings (including my own job). And I'm not saying that as a bad thing, I don't mind the song. It reminds me of "Got to Be Real" by Cheryl Lynn, which is another song I've never really gotten tired of.

    “Best of My Love” is an absolute timeless masterpiece. Thanks, as always, for your breakdown. Since I’m old and not really on TikTok, I’ve never heard “Lil Boo Thang,” but I imagine my mother 🙏🏾 would have enjoyed it. She loved “Best of My Love” and another song that heavily sampled it back in the late ‘90s, “My Baby Daddy” by B-Rock & the Bizz. 😆 Cheers!

    I think a lot of people around my age and younger actually never knew this song, myself included, despite being a fan of 60s-70s R&B. I’m black but somehow never heard it at cookouts or picnics either. I never heard it before until my job at Walgreens in 2017 where it was in regular rotation on the playlist and it instantly became one of my all-time favorites!
    Same story with the Isley Brothers This Old Heart Of Mine. So yeah, I think it’s just a matter of underexposure to it in current times. Never heard Lil Boo Thang before, but I instantly recognized the sample, so I’m glad Best Of My Love is finally getting the recognition it deserves once again!

Large Proffessor, Guru from Gang Starr, Grand Puba, Kool G Rap, Black Sheep and the Pharcyde plus more all dropping rhymes over a live jazz band. This why I always it funny when every few years, some journalist or influencer will declare " X genre is dead" and then suddenly 5-10 years later, that genre comes roaring back to the surface and makes them look real stupid. I don't think art dies. It just changes into something else. It's not like groups of any given genre suddenly stop existing or suddenly all the rappers have disappeared. The scene goes on regardless of what the trends or industry thinks of it. People claimed, "punk is dead" but there's still punk bands forming and re-forming all the time. I don't think anyone ever thought Nu-Metal was gonna come back, and yet it still did anyway, and people love it. That's one hell of a redemption arc to go on. Culture doesn't work in a life/death binary, and the vault analogy is a great way to demonstrate that.

    best of my love has never went away.. its essential.. if you love music you have it in your playlist somewhere,,, boo thing is popular cause it uses an already established liked beat/sound , and uses modern words that are catchy... its a no brainer... ! this has happened alot in music, and why creative rights are so important, cause its literally people using something someone else made to make them money instead of creating their own sounds! i personally hate the idea thats its legal and that even given the green light by anyone to use an already used sound..!~ sometimes it works good to reuse it, sometimes should be left alone.... im not saying its always a bad thing music wise, just lame to piggy back off another money wise !

      Have you heard of movie remakes?......"King Kong, Planet of the Apes, The Thomas Crown Affair?".......
      In fact EWF's remake or rearangement or recomposition of the Beatles's "Got to get you in my Life"
      is actually hands down the better version. I hope you agree.

    • @SA_SovereigntyForPatriots
      @SA_SovereigntyForPatriots Рік тому

      @@arlichar11 I hear you and respect your opinion. That said, EWF's version was so good and unique
      that originally I thought it was their song, and of course later found out it was a Beatles song.
      Also, many if not most people agree that EWF's version was the best cover of the original ever made.
      And then of course, the comparisons started taking root. I have to say generally, I don't believe
      in competition as far as creativity goes.
      Be that as it may, when you consider the level of musicianship that lived in EWF at the time, one
      can understand how it became possible for them to take a Beatles song and make it their own
      and raise the song technically to a whole other level. And the "better", is purely from a technical pov.
      However, the original concept is of course just that, without it their would be no EWF version. and
      then it also comes down to preference from an aesthetic viewpoint.

    This may not get a lot of views, but it will definitely bring a new crowd of people who didn’t know they were interested in all the stories behind the music.
    An even for the old heads, there’s still so much to learn

    Once people hear my mMbop / Golddigger mash up both songs will be out the vault. Seriously great scratching in that Hanson tune. Especially the bridge.

    In the year 1999 a group by the name of B-Rock & The Bizz used the same sample for their smash hit song “My Baby Daddy” they sped it up a bit. One hit wonder
