Hell, I TRY not to mix cleaner and I still cause reactions sometimes because I trusted my gut, like when I used tin foil to shield the overspray from my oven cleaner and it started letting off flammable gas. Don't mix things and the second something starts seeming weird, remove it to a safe location and ask a professional what the heck happened!

Thank you, Melissa! Hope many of those "deep cleaners" see and hear you. The worst hack I've seen is to wash your floor with boiling hot water, dishwashing pods and desinfectant. How to ruin my flooring 101! How long would I have to rinse the floor to get all that strong alkaline solution washed away! You could literally disolve the skin of your feet walking barefoot in your home! And imagine you let a baby with it's thin and more vulnerable skin crawl on such a surface!!! Let alone the selective breeding of desinfectant resistent bacteria, by using desinfectants indiscriminatelly! As a microbiologist: there should be laws against the misleading advertisements for chemical desinfectants! Use steam, it is much safer!

I would say the cleaning "hack" that makes me wince the most is using oven cleaner on so many things. It's so caustic and the fumes (even the fumeless ones) are so strong, it would gas me out. The other is using toilet bowl cleaner on other fixtures, like the tub. It will absolutely eat the finish off of things like faucets and drain plugs.

    • @sapphire22011

That fake bi@@h Aurikatarina is terrible for both of those things. And u can tell her videos are staged cos she never has a hair out of place - her false gel nails, inch thick makeup and hair are always perfect after apparently cleaning the filthiest hovels. Plus her clothes never have a speck of dirt on them. Whereas when I'm doing heavy cleaning I wear the oldest trackies I own and afterwards, they are RUINED with stains, grease, etc and have to be washed right away. I think Auri has in a cleaning firm probably her own, as she claims she managed her family cleaning business for a few years. And Auri just goes in for the 'money shots'.
Agree re the oven cleaner it's VERY toxic. I had to stop using it cos of the fumes. I invested I'm a good quality steam cleaner which does an excellent job.

Or half and half nix of toothpaste and baking sida (just plain white toothpaste not the gel stuff or the whitening one). Both these might take a few goes to get the stain out, if at all, but with a try.
Oven cleaner is extremely caustic I used it one time on the wire mesh insert from Mt extractor fan, which was full of grease. I must thank you guys for coming up with a microfiber cloth that really works I am legally blind completely blind in my left eye and legally blind in my right eye and without your cloths which are so fantastic especially the general cleaning cloth and the woven dish towel I would have a much harder time keeping my house clean. I would not be able to find the dirt or spilled juice or leftover spaghetti sauce cloths literally stopped when you hit a dirty spot which then allows me to know that there is something more there that I need to scrub. One of my least favorite reasons for wanting to get granted counters was because usually they are a dark color and you cannot see anything spilled. Well we got a lighter color and it was still hard for me to see anything that was spilled or on it. Every night I use the amethyst general purpose cloth with soap and water and I clean the entire countertops and candle to the refrigerator and then the table that we eat on. It makes things a whole lot easier and it also ensures that I do not miss anything. Thank you so much for such a wonderful product. The towel also stops once it hits any stuck on food or spot that needs to be cleaned off before I run over it with my clean cloth. This allows me to use a sponge to clean up what needs to be cleaned up and then be able to run the dish towel over it remarkable products!😊 I I am a bit of a clean freak and I thoroughly enjoy a clean house with your products I am well equipped to do so😊

Also, when they use just one product but they use way too much! It's so unnecessary as it just leaves a horrible film on their surface...you know it does lol! I saw the first video on Tik Tok and believe to had left a comment in it, because she reminded me of when I was living in Puerto Rico and used to clean the floors on my knees with a bucket of soapy water, a scrabbling brush. I used to scrab the floor with the brush, then pass the towel to clean n dry, I would do the same until I was all done with the floor. When all the floor was clean, I would take a clean towel and with the broom dry all the floor. I was so used to doing this, that when I move back to here, I continue cleaning my floors the same way for some time. I still do so at times but with the towel only, for me the floor looks way cleaner and fresher.
About the powder the lady use, I wouldn’t use it on floors specially if their are kids because that leaves behind like a powdery source on the floor and that’s not healthy for kids.

I found the oven cleaner and saran wrap method effective. Where u spray the oven cleaner onto a burnt baking sheet, then cover it quite tightly with saran wrap leave several hours or overnight and then scrub. I left mine overnight and it DID do quite a good job and made some of the burnt areas melt, but I still had to scrub a bit, altho the time was much reduced. Sometimes u can repeat it a second time if necessary. Just protect your surfaces with lots of newspaper as the oven cleaner can be damaging and beware if using it on certain surfaces. Eg it damaged the filter of my extractor fan, which was a metal one you can remove, clean and refit - it's supposedly metal but I sprayed oven cleaner on it l, left it 3 hours while I cleaned the oven, but the cleaner left quite a damaged hole in the wire mesh, and I had to order the piece from the manufacturer which cus me 95 euros. So just be warned.

But then, I appreciate anyone who saves me time and knows what the heck they're talking about. I'm a huge fan!! Also, as someone who used to work in TV news production, and occasionally dabble in my own video production projects, I thoroughly appreciate and enjoy the production work of your videos - very well done, and I love the sense of humor, lol!! KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!! 💕

I followed a clean floor hack that used washing soda in the recipe, after drying my tiles ended up with a powdery white coating, I had to wash the floor again to get rid of it. Great cleaning hacks aren’t supposed to create twice the work.
My clean freak Aunt used a similar powder cleaner to scrub their tub daily, she wore the enamel through on several bathtubs. Cousin was giving his kids a bath when they complained that their bottoms were hurting, he found they were sitting on the reside and ended up with skin damage.

Hi Melissa, one of the worst cleaning hacks I have ever seen and believe me, I cringed and then was extremely worried for the health of the person cleaning, is a video of a lady using and mixing about 8 different cleaners in a toilet all at once to get a clean sanitary toilet bowl. She piled one in after another. I am not even sure she had any ventilation. I was so scared for her health and told her she could die from inhaling all of that and basically she told me her mother and grandmother clean the same way and for me to ummm mind my business. I normally do not comment on things like that but I was seriously concerned for her health and the health of anyone in her home. I just pray they are all alright.

I am exhausted after the first video. That Comet cannot be a good idea for that floor and mixing those products is a no no. I just mopped my floors. DIY vinegar, alcohol ,water and Dawn and essential oil. Just like Melissa has taught me 😊 I can’t imagine how sticky that shaving cream floor is. Yuck. Girl when I was a kid we had a dining room with real wood framing and my mother cleaned it with Pledge then went over it with a product called Liquid Gold. I think it did a semi decent job but it was like putting baby oil on it and we had to avoid getting really close to it so we didn’t touch it and leave fingerprints on it. Bless my mom’s heart. I also believe to each his own but come on , some of these are bizarre. In my opinion perhaps Downy can mask the smell of pee but mask is the operative word. It doesn’t clean and or disinfect the area with pee on it. I vacuum almost daily because it’s easier for me with tile floors. And I take a dry microfiber cloth over exposed surfaces frequently to cut down on dust. As far as this collection of videos the one with Comet and glass cleaner stopped me in my tracks. I have a relative who is a Respiratory Therapist and the thought of mixing anything with bleach would freak she and I out. Also if there is a member of your family who has asthma or any type of lung disease mixing chemicals can exacerbate their illness. I recommend watching Clean My Space videos and learning correct, practical ,safe and efficient and effective ways to clean. Thanks Melissa ❤

I have perfected the art of cleaning - keep it simple, inexpensive and do it as you go in other words don't deal with it after a week/month etc, deal with it in the now and limit yourself to 3 reserved microfibre cleaning cloths a fourth for dusting. These can be the cheapest you can find.
The cleaning solution I use is the cheapest laundry liquid detergent on the market. I use it for floors, the bathroom even the toilet. In a spray bottle make a dilution of detergent and water.
For the toilet spray the entire unit and wipe down, rinse the cloth. Spray the bowl and scrub, using a toilet brush, do it every time you use the toilet to ensure it is clean for the next user. No disinfectant required.
For floors, sweep first to remove debris such as hair etc then mop using a microfibre cloth rinsed in detergent solution, rinse and wipe as you complete each section of the floor use a doodle bug mop tool to push the microfibre cloth around the floor.
For damp dusting, wring out a microfibre cloth rinsed in very dilute detergent solution (no bubbles), and wipe surfaces, dry immediately using a dry cloth or paper towels - this is ok for furniture woodwork etc.
    You will save money.
Kitchen - cleaning the refrigerator - same deal as for dusting but I use dish detergent instead. For the oven don't wait until you need a jackhammer to remove built up grime -make a paste of baking soda and brush it on surfaces of the oven (pre warm the oven but not hot) - after applying the baking soda paste wait half an hour then start to wipe it away - do a test run on the oven floor first to make sure you are happy with the result. This works on fresh spills not carbon dated ones.
Bathroom - if you used the shower or bath clean it by spraying the surfaces with the diluted detergent mixture after use and just wipe it down then its fresh for the next person and you never need to do the weekly clean trying to remove built up soap scum.

Never use Baking Soda or baking soda based powder to deodorize carpets and rugs. It’s tricky to get out of carpets and can wear them since it’s an abrasive. It will ruin your vacuum cleaner, especially bagless since the dust is incredibly fine, passes through the filters and straight into the motor. The dust gets into fan causing vibration and bearings, wearing them out. It then clogs the exhaust HEPA filter, reducing airflow and cleaning power, and makes the motor run hot and burn out. If your carpets have an odor problem, use an enzyme based odor remover for carpets.

You can buy a multi surface furniture spray that is excellent at repelling dust. It's by Pledge. I use it on non wood surfaces, including glass once a month. However, I use it sparingly as too much can gunk up a surface. I use lint free cloths for this as microfibre cloths can absorb too much of the product and not provide the sheen layer needed. For vinyl floors I use an enzyme cleaner, extremely hot water and a cotton mop. I wring the mop thoroughly and often during the process and only use tge exact amount of cleaner per litre of water used. No bleach or scourers should ever be used on vinyl floors. It destroys their protective top layer. For stubborn stains and gunk I put a dash of neat cleaner on the area and cover with a hot damp microfibre cloth. Wait 5 minutes and wipe it off. No scraper needed.

#2- perhaps better results would be achieved using aftershave. Aftershave contains alcohol, which is a solvent. Plus it will deal with the odor. 3-5 bottles should do it.
And since you asked: windex & vinegar. I'm pretty sure mixing acetic acid with ammonia, a base, neutralizes the cleaning power of both. Am I wrong? Going by elementary school chemistry lessons where we mixed vinegar & baking soda to make a model volcano erupt.

I was clueless to these things until I notice my own sister would recommend to me and to anyone who'd listen to purchase stuff that she had purchased herself and hated! After I caught her throwing away a type of 'blackbean' pasta that she had recommended to me, I became wise to her. Yes, I had bought and made and took a bite of that pasta myself...and threw away the cooked and raw remainder. But that was the end of it. Either for content or just because some people get a kick out of 'controlling' others or whatever, I think it is toxic. I can't fix them. But I can just dismiss them and laugh.
