I can't believe I got two battle spectra cards, a Wolverine sketch, and the first gold foil border... and it's a Black Panther. The wait and the anxiety were totally worth it... 😊
You were correct the first time on the battle spectra I want most, Cyclops vs Mr. Sinister. I purchased the Dr. Strange vs Misery from the live case break. It seems to be pretty rare, you've only pulled one so far.
Kind of curious, was this the first box out of the case? I know the pre-order wasn't live for long before I ordered.

Love those Masterpieces. When I was younger I had the entire set of 1992's Masterpiece........Buuuut i wasnt aware the value in which these items accumulate over the years. Wow those are beautiful though😍😍😍
If you're having trouble with the focus on the cards. Experiment with open the packs with the box out of view. It might help... maybe I'm no expert hahah

Marvel cards are really cool looking in my opinion, and I know they've been growing in popularity recently. I'm pretty sure this set just hit Upper Deck's ePack last week and sold out last night already!

some company did do dc cards but they weren't popular and a inferior quality. I think i might have some in a box somewhere from my adolescent years.

Why are they getting 6 year olds to their sketch cards?
WOW!!!!!!!! The more I watch this video the better I feel about NOT buying into this scam. It's incredibly disturbing how upper deck and marvel have collaborated to take advantage of collectors and their addiction. Seriously, how many times can you repurpose the same image (silver, gold, purple, orange, what if, preliminary sketchs, etc.....). This is absolutely disgusting. As a collector you'll only feel satisfied with a complete set. How can you even get a complete base set with all this trash mixed in? The 1992-1996 Marvel masterpiece sets did it right. I don't like how card collecting has evolved. There is far to much focus on the profits and the fear of loss than the beauty of the art. You've lost me as a fan and a collector Marvel Masterpiece. Does anyone else feel the same? If you do, please speak up. And please stop encouraging this. Keep in mind, we the collectors are the invisible hand that guides this market. If we don't buy, these cards become nothing and they will have to reevaluate their strategy.
I get where you are coming from, I really do... I'm not really a fan of parallels, but if it allows the company to make a viable product and get me cards to collect, with amazing art, I'm fine with it.
As I see it: to attract the whales and investors to the set they have to manufacture exclusivity... if they can steer those people toward high end variants of a high tier low run card, that leaves stuff like gold foil signatures and epic purple (on some tiers) as options for the set collectors that really do just appreciate the amazing art... as I do for this set.
I can come to terms with the foil being different colors on my cards... remember that botched puzzle from the 93 set? Take your pick, you either get numerical order and a broken puzzle with mismatched foil colors, or you get a correct puzzle and foil colors with out of order cards... they haven't always been the paragon of OCD satisfying sets.
It's a bit much to claim that no collector could possibly be satisfied without every single card in the set. I understand the mindset, it's one I used to share. I'd rather have sets with 1/1 sketches than to go back to everybody having the EXACT SAME collection, even if that means keeping the ability for hardcore collectors to rainbow their favorite cards/characters... and speculators and corporations to make large profits.
By all means, express your interests and wants to the company... let them know you exist as a customer so that they can try to please you. I'm not saying to buy it anyway, I'm saying tweet at them with a pic of your collection and your thoughts. It might help to not proclaim it a scam right out of the gate though. 😉
@@stephenoliveau good points. But you can't deny the laziness of utilizing the same art several times over to create more cards and artificial value. The issue is that the collector becomes disillusioned by the number stamped on the back of the card. Not the card in its entirety. Are we collecting pocket sized canvas art or foil stamped numbers??? Personally I think many collectors have lost their way. I use the word scam because upper deck has been involved in some in the past. Do you know they intentionally printed baseball cards in the past while declaring that those same cards are rare and increasing in value (thats scammy and artifical inflation)??? Foil Variants and number stamping is the new scam. I feel that I'll have an easy time changing the card collecting culture than changing upper deck. A lot of collectors already feel the same as I do. I'm just am trying to make sure collectors are informed and thinking about where the value is coming from. If no one buys into these foil variants the collection is worthless. I understand sellers and retailers will say other wise until they can't sell their stock. Then they see how variants effected the industry.
