    The system is flawless and you don't need -30ug. I just put a heating pad under mine cost like 20 at the garden shop. Safe to use indoors. I do around 4 pulls for 3 hours and heat in oven between to make it liquid. Comes out perfect.

    • @Jmarosii
      @Jmarosii  6 років тому +2

      When having the vacuum chamber under a vacuum you will need to shut off the valve that is connected to the pump because it will eventually siphon oil from the pump. Oil mist/smoke from the pump is a common occurrence with any vacuum pump because the deep vacuum levels instantly create oil mist vapors that are harmless. We sell Carbon Exhaust and oil mist filters online for our pumps and many other brands to stop this from happening. However, it is not causing any harm to your vacuum pump.

    Can anyone help describe how to release the vacuum? Without all the particles collecting back onto the material?

    Seems like all gases would be in the air and condense onto surfaces without another method! Help!!

    • @Jmarosii
      @Jmarosii  4 місяці тому

      @nimo517 we use a 50 micron air filter on the air intake inlet. This stops particulates from entering the chamber when letting air back in.

      @@Jmarosii thanks! I do have that though. I know my question is reallly elementary sounding, haha so thanks for hanging tight with me…. As a loyal BVV customer haha
      If you see my recent upload, the vacuum is reached and with nearly zero temperature change, begins to boil off/evaporate.. what happens to that butane or moisture etc that is degassed? It stays in the “air” in the vacuum correct? So releasing that valve just brings all the suspended gas down to atmospheric pressure and temp and where did it go? Not out..
      I am especially curious now, after my last run… I think I let it inside the vac too long bc it smells and tastes like dry crap….
      Thanks for your help!!! Also, tell Angel I said thanks for the help with the hose fitting!!

    can I add another port to the top. I want to make it a partial flow-through system with the gas going into the top in one port and being removed at the other port. The application is to use this as a large cold trap to remove water vapor from the gas stream.

    • @Jmarosii
      @Jmarosii  2 роки тому

      Are you looking to surround the chamber in dry ice? To effectively trap water moving through a vacuum line, it is required to have a temperature difference allowing the water vapors to condense into a liquid.
      The ideal method is to have vapors pass through a chamber, coming in at the bottom side and exiting at the opposite side towards the top. Within the chamber under vacuum containing the steam would be a second chamber with a large surface area with which the vapor is forced to make contact, condensing the steam into a liquid.
      We make a 1.5-gallon Cold Trap for this exact purpose.
      Adding another port to the top of the chamber shown would be considered a Resin Trap (we make a 3-gallon version), but this doesn't allow the steam to make enough contact with any surface to condense successfully.
      1.5-gallon Cold Trap: shopbvv.com/collections/cold-traps/products/1-5-gallon-cold-trap-2qt-tank-dry-ice-liquid-nitrogen
      3-gallon Resin Trap: shopbvv.com/collections/resin-traps/products/3-gallon-resin-trap-vacuum-chamber

    • @massmanute
      @massmanute 2 роки тому

      @@Jmarosii Thanks. What I have in mind looks more like the resin trap. For reasons that may not seem obvious without additional information the cold trap you describe is probably more capable than is necessary for my application. Maybe I should give you a call to discuss in more detail.

      @timlund4573 8 років тому +1

      i have the same question

    • @markpbetz
      @markpbetz 7 років тому

      yes, use very LOW heat. Around 100 degrees F inside the chamber where the oil will sit. This may require higher than 100 at the heat source, due to heat loss thru the chamber & the silicone pad/wax paper the oil is sitting on. You can get a digital, single burner, electric unit used for cooking, but make sure it goes down to 100 degrees F, not all of them do. Or to be safer try a heating pad used in reptile/snake cages or the really nice ones used for lab work. Just make sure it goes low, and has a way to set the heat to a specific temp. Hope this helps, DABS FTW!!!! oOShakeyOo

      What's your elevation? If you are not at sea level you cannot hit 29.9inHg
      Also all gauges are temperature sensitive. They must be used in an ambient temp of 75-105f
      And work most accurate in average barometric days.

    • @pcmshcladouceur
      @pcmshcladouceur 10 років тому

      Jason Marosi oh i see, thanks for the quick reply. what about my griddle under the aluminium 3 gal bucket, its at 110F and sometimes 130F even? does it changes something in the vac?

    • @jasonmarosi3503
      @jasonmarosi3503 10 років тому +1

      When you add heat to the chamber any remaining air molecules will expand further, this raising the pressure in the chamber in a positive direction. This would result in a slight decrease in the gauge reading. It's not very much but can throw a gauge a bit. Something you can try is boiling water. If you fill the chamber with 3" of water and vacuum it, it will boil at room temperature. You won't get a rolling boil but a simmer. If it's simmering your at -1 atmosphere in the chamber for your elevation.

    • @pcmshcladouceur
      @pcmshcladouceur 10 років тому

      Jason Marosi boiling water is too hot, but thanks for the explanation.

    • @jasonmarosi3503
      @jasonmarosi3503 10 років тому +5

      I don't mean to boil with heat. Water boils without heat in a vacuum chamber. A chamber lowers the boiling point of substances because of the absence of atmospheric pressure. You can boil water at room temperature water thats almost frozen (like 40F) in a vac chamber.
