Welp, actually, nobody getting a happy ending's not true, Cassio becomes the governor of Cyprus and his arch-nemesis is defeated. Pretty nice play if you rooted for Cassio all along.
The Turks actually aren't turned away and return, which the audience at that time would be well aware of. Even tho Cassio takes Othello's place as general, they're all still going to die when the Turks take them off guard. It's a bit of irony in there👍🍊
@@analogueclock4580 That's right. Also, just because he's technically still alive at the end of the play doesn't mean he has a happy ending. He'd accidentally played an instrumental role in a plot that got two of his friends killed. Not a moment of triumph for Cassio.
And the Jew is converted by force too. Knowing the Venetians in Shakespeare plays, Cassio would probably join in the taunting. Nice Merchant of Venice reference.@@lysaali50
This helped me a lot and I could understand everything. I'm Italian and a lot of summaries are too fast for me and without subtitles, so it's very hard for me to understand properly. This is great!
