Love the attempt on dm'ing his speedrun. Tough crowd.
Hahaha! I love how they started like it was a tabletop campaign. Pretty funny.
Defeated Sarevok by dancing. Truly the most Bard way of doing it
He beat the WR by 1 second. Wow.
0.1 second
At the moment he said "chaotic neutral", I knew he was the one.
Nice world record dude, great run!
This was genius, I love how the bard, one of the least likely class types for players to choose was such a jack of all trades that it could use nearly every useful exploit, great speed run
Pretty sure any character could've done the same, they can all use wands, not sure about the scrolls though. The bard was chosen because of pickpocketing and because of the offensive whirlwind which lets him run faster.
@@asdfasdf-mn8iu only mages and bards can use wands
@@Intedujagand thieves
The DM/player joking at the start was inspired
Holy shit I can’t believe I missed this 😭 but I’m also so happy to see people still running this!!
well i just spend 50 hours to this masterpiece last week ..
Grats on the WR!! Very fun run.
man this game has some serious music in it
"I'm here to help!"
running through the ankeg cave at level 1; absolute mad lad
The original Baldur's Gate is still one of the best RPGs ever. I unironically love wandering around the wilderness, running into a wolf, and missing it 10 times before hitting it twice and killing it instantly.
I always prefered BG 2, but with the enhanced edition, the BG 2 mechanics carry over to the base game anyway.
Liked the story of 2nd part a lot more though.
Great run!!! Fun to watch
I love this game and still play it over and over. You got a sub out of me on your channel Surly!
Great run!
Amazing run. Congrats on the WR!
Just amazing and satisfying as hell to see someone utterly destroy this game.
Your character's portrait is hilarious
I’ve played Baldars gate for 15 ish years and I’ve had to stop the vid 20 mins in as you are further than me lol! I’m a chronic restarter!
Great fun run, also this game is one of the best rpg ever made.
extremely entertaining
I've been playing this game for the first time the past few weeks, nearly done with Chapter 7, and I had NO IDEA you could cast the scrolls you pick up... I just keep shoving them all in my spell tome.......
Does SeriouslySurly do any bg2? Tried to find from youtube and twitch but couldn't find any decent glitchless speedruns.
Maybe BG2Glitchless isnt done because it would take too long ? Thought it might be doable within 2-5hours
I will be starting BG2 stuff soon. One of our other runners (ShadowFireAngel) just finished routing a glitchless version of both Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal. Takes roughly 1.5 hours but this is early stages yet.
I can't understand why this needs to be in FIVE CD's.
For the gold colored backing on my Gold Edition of course. Also, the CDRoms used were the 600 MB variant, not DVDroms which have a significantly larger capacity. You can get the game on a three disc set, and you can secure a single disc install through downloading to a hard "disc" drive.
CD technology has improved quite extensively since 95.
Lol
I never knew freezing enemy gear was a thing. It completely destroys it?
in the original BG you could just stand on the other side of a lake and pelt drizzt with darts and arrows. though i'm pretty sure that AI pathing failure was fixed in EE (and also fan patches)
Well in EE you can just activate the gnolls and let Drizzt hidden in the fog of war and he won't fight back. 5-6 gnolls kills him pretty quickly even if they only hit with 20s. You can do this straight when leaving candlekeep. Trap spam and Fireshield+mirror image+stoneskin are also very good effortless options.
Fun watch - Question - What is the Longsword the dual-wielding berserker is using on the main hand?
Would love to know this too
But was he really here to help?
What's up with the levels in the Drizzt fight? How are they lvl 9 and 10 when rangers and fighters cap out at 8?
SOS! when I play BG in full screen, the screen stretch wide to fill up the whole screen, it used to be in ratio, ruined after I change the resolution of the computer, changing back doesnt fix the problem, wonder what else could be done
Check full screen optimization from option in the exe. Windows loves to mess it with older games
using that offensive spin that should be the normal walking speed. The game is mind numbing slow when you walk form point A to point B other wise
Agree, in the modern games you can speed it up (pillars of eternity for example). Would use cheats to give everyone boots of speeds but the walking speed is such an adventage in a fight that its real cheating rather than quality of life improvement. Or use cheats and ctrl+j to teleport around but you will miss dialogue because of it.
Kinda gives a feeling of how big the world is, i always found it ok. If you just click the edge of the screen, you get through areas pretty quickly anyway.
I think I missed how he got 80 stacks on his wand of frost, anyone can explain?
If you sell your wand and buy it back from High Hedge, he'll have recharged it to 100 uses. I think that hack works at some other shops too.
The wand is sold to the High Hedge mage and then purchased again. Rebuying ups the total charges.
Why do his menus look different?
I'm glad i watched this, because my friends told me this game was awesome so bought it, sadly i didn't like it but unless i saw the end. And it was fast :D
His Drizzt tactics are pretty tame though, just "wake up" the gnolls and move away - they'll kill him for you as long as you dont ever see him.
Couldnt beat the game for like 20y...and he does it in less than half an hour...
I forgot that people run this game! It's my favorite game of all time! I recently (2 -days ago) started a Randomizer-Solo run of BGEE. I'm at like 6 hours in. I can't believe this guy beat the game in 25 minutes! One thing I am noticing.
In this playthrough it doesn't seem to be needed at all, however, I'm shocked I don't see Quick-Save,Quick-Load tricks. So that everyone knows. This game operates at 6 second intervals (as they say in the beginning). However, if you quick-salve and quick-load you can skip those 6 seconds. It also seems to let you stack/stall durations of spells/potions. IF you're fast enough it acts as though you're casting all the spells on the same turn.
What I do to REALLY cheese BG. Bound Quick-Save to Q, Rest to W, and Quick-Load to E. It's a great way to quickly chug healing potions after a fight or prebuff before a fight. Otherwise... I can't think of too much you can do with the SRL (Save-Rest-Load) trick.
Quicksave quickload is used all over this run! I think it's mentioned briefly before the fight with Mulahey. You can see it in the fight with Mulahey, Dave, and Drasus when using the wands of fireball or frost
I thought the quickload thing to keep Mulahey neutral was kind of cheesy. But good job. I'm wondering if there's any way to run the game without super cheesy exploits/race conditions.
