  • Someting to consider. Why I chose a Harley Davidson over an Indian after years of Scout/Chief admiration.

Good choice...I love the Slim...You have a vast aftermarket network if you want to save money by not buying Geniune HD parts...

Nice bike. I have a 2020 Slim in Denim black and have the same Cobra slip-ons. I've been going through the same thought process about the rest of the chrome pipe, lol.

Awesome! The more I look at it, the more I like it! Just added some 4.5inch risers and now the Hollywood beach bars feel amazing. Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/-531mqQwgLo/v-deo.html

Nice bike. I guess I understand being worried about Indians dealer network, but you run that same risk with many makes of bikes. ( Ducati, Triumph, BMW, Royal Enfield) you get the idea. Personally, after 46 years of various bikes (mainly HD) I find the Indian brand a refreshing change. I am fortunate to have 2 dealers within an hour drive, but that had no bearing on my decision. Over the years, my bikes seldom went back to a dealer, unless absolutely necessary anyway. To each there own.
    Stay safe
    Mike

Great point Mike and quite frankly, I likely would have gone with Indian if they would’ve had a Chief Darkhorse available or had a better dealer experience (which I opted out of mentioning in the video). But given that’s the only dealer close to me, coming back for help with custom work in the future would probably not be a good experience either. The difference in the experience with the Harley folks was night and day. I’m not the greatest mechanic so I’ll definitely need to come back for help as I continue to order parts 😉 I’m still a huge Indian fan and see myself owning one in the future.

The Slim is a much more handsome bike then the Chief and Scout.

Definitely agree! For those that appreciate the reminiscing style of the WW2 era and the WLAs

Great bike, man! I was torn between the Chief Bobber and the Street Bob. I went with the Street Bob and have zero regrets. Couldn't agree more with your assessment of the network benefit. That was a major factor in my decision process, as well.

...and customizing the bike is so much easier since I didn't realize how massive the aftermarket support is. No regrets here either although I still see myself owning an Indian in the future as a second bike. Enjoy your ride!

This is too funny. I have a 2015 Scout, and it's a great bike. The suspension is sorely lacking and the tank could be bigger, really my only gripes. Also my bike doesn't have ABS so I have been looking at either getting a new Bobber with ABS, a Chief Bobber with ABS, or a Softail Slim. What's your opinion of the engine and power of the Slim vs. the Scout? I know you talk about it a bit in the vid, but I'm concerned the 107 and the way it peaks at like 3000 RPM may have me pine for the power to weight ratio and higher rev nature of the Scout. Honestly I do feel like I would like more power from the Scout at Highway speeds so I'm not so high in the rev range though. I'm really torn.

Hey @yojohnny5 - I highly recommend you just go to a local Harley and ride one. You reach the peak torque at 3k but it still pulls like a mofo at highway speeds beyond that. I don't feel like I'm missing power at all since I don't really push the bike beyond 90mph anyways. The stage 1 and stage 2 performance upgrades will bring the Slim to the 114 engine category but I don't feel I need to do that yet since I'm happy with the power output. When comparing that to the scout, on highway speeds, the Slim, feels a whole lot more stable even though it's just about 100lbs heavier. So if you're going to be doing a lot of highway and pick an Indian, I'd go with the chief. I still see myself getting a scout in the near future for local joy riding. And yes, ABS saved my butt already once. Good luck

@@RunCMDmoto Good info thx brother. Yeah I plan on testing the Chief Bobber and Slim (and other softails) but it's getting ready to snow here now and I have a line on a really good deal on a '21 Slim. I have a feeling if I want that one I'll have to just take the chance without riding it... lol... so I'm trying to gather as many opinions as I can. Thx again!

@@yojohnny5 Ah, if you do go with the Slim, you’ll be taking home the very last Slim model year being produced by Harley since they dropped the Slim and the sport glide from the 2022 Softail lineup. If you don’t want to always have that “I wish I had more power” voice on the back of your head, the Street Bob and low rider S are also fun bikes. I primarily picked the slim for comfort and riding position (for me) although I found the street Bob with mid controls fairly comfortable as well. Still happy with my decision. Crazy thing is that if I would’ve found a Chief to rent, I probably would’ve never looked at the Harley route especially with the ‘22 redesign. May the force be with you and lead you to the right choice for you.
