Growing up in Zimbabwe and then South Africa we never did Halloween. Moved to New Zealand and it all started when a little 4-year-old "Witch" came trick or treating, and I had nothing to give her, I felt so bad cause she made such an effort to dress up and go knocking on doors. Any way fast forward 5 years and Halloween at my house has turned into a full blown production, I am in my 50's and love dressing up and answering the door. Love to see all the costumes, even give out prizes for the kids/family that make the extra effort. I don't mind how old they are as long as they are respectful. Thanks for the great talk.
Yes! My neighborhood is dead when it comes to decorating for Halloween. We got tricker or treats for the 1st time last year in 3 years. I want my house to be the house kids remember when they're older. So excited to build a haunt but waiting until this hurricane passes before setting anything up. Don't want our hard work to be destroyed. Looking forward to seeing more spooky awesomeness.
If you show up to my house with a paper hat, youre getting candy. I dont care how old you are. No, no pranks anymore...😢 tp is too precious 😂. Porchlight was the rule when i was a kid, still going these days. Weirdest treat i ever got was a new pencil with a bible passage typed out and taped to the pencil. I was confused, but my mom was quick to let me know it was just a way for that person to participate in a way that worked for them❤
I love decorating my yard for Halloween. When I was younger I always decorated the pub I worked at. Could you please do a video showing your decorations? P.S. Here in Vancouver, Canada we use the porch light rule. :)
Halloween should be scary- how the heck will kids ever be brave if they never face something scary? Yeah, 9:30 -10pm it was over to the eggers and the TP brigade. ❤
I am a "child" of the 50's, (lol) and Halloween has always been my favorite holiday too. I remember it as a wholesome way to act on our imaginations. Evil morons spoiled it for the kids by putting harmful things in the treats. Those assholes piss me off for spoiling it for everyone! I had pounds of candy to get rid of some years ago b/c I still looked forward to the costumed kids at the door. *sigh Now, there are only Halloween parties. 😐 I think this year I may dress up and hit the streets with the treats! 👻 (But only to kids with their parents).
Ben Cooper made the cheap costumes, I hated them as a kid as they always had the monster image on the shirt. But that's me. NECA recently made a Ben Cooper action figure line based on this, and they are selling out. Lol As a kid, my older brother bought me a latex gorilla mask with hair, I was a soldier from Planet Of The Apes. Didn't soap windows but did leave candy I hated in random mail boxes. Now I buy full sized chocolate bars and kids flip out.

If the young kids aren't scared to come up on my porch, I'm failing, I've never failed yet. Hahahaha!
