    you're probably the most real UA-camr i've ever seen! I started out this month with around 20 subs, and after posting daily videos for only a week, I now have 90! so thank you! 😃

    I think you should provide content to viewers as if you already have 100k subscribers, even when you just have 12 or so, this way you're focused on higher quality content. great video!

      Quality and uniqueness of content, at least that's my take on it. I've found a niche that I can dominate. Now I'm trying to learn more about how UA-cam works. that's how I found my way to your video. Although I've been subscribed to you for a while. I must of watched a few of your Photoshop how to's.

    Thank you for talking about video length, that has been a hard one for me because I do informative videos and always see the duration showing like 2-3 minutes out of 10 minutes. Some of my shorter videos do well too, but I always felt bad if it went over 10 minutes because I felt it was hurting me to gain new subscribers or a relationship. The consistency is something I need to get back into. I do a variety of content, but all things that I am interested in that show my passions. Overall this video was perfect! Thank you so much for this advice, time to do the grind! :D

    Hey Roberto, I have a question about the regularity.
    My videos currently take 4 weeks to put together working evenings and weekends because they are animated. Am I going to have to accept stunted growth until I can go full time, sacrifice quality, or is there consistency without weekly consistency?

    Thanks Roberto: I like that you harangue people about being passionate about what you do! You're right, if you do this for the ratings, the subscribers, or the $$, you're going to burn out and give up in despair. As well, the advice that some videos need to be longer is solid. I was sort of trying to keep mine under 10 minutes, but some of the material that I cover in the trucking profession does not lend itself to being described in a 2 or 3 minute vide. Thanks again, Cheers Rick

    Hey, Roberto. Just discovered you. As a newer content creator, I've watched a ton of videos covering this topic. You're actually giving me the exact opposite advice from most videos that cover the topic and your advice makes so much sense. I've kinda come to some of the same conclusions that you have from my experiences over the last year with UA-cam but you've also taught me lots of new stuff I haven't thought of before. Thanks, yo!

    • @RobertoBlake
      @RobertoBlake  8 років тому +1

      +Financial Education I know people get intimidated by the length. I did this on purpose. For one thing, there is no other way to honestly tell you how I did it. Almost every other video with this title that is shorter from other UA-camrs is fluff.
      It mostly is them unboxing a play button and repeating basics.
      If people are genuinely serious about finding out how an adult builds UA-cam on business sense, career savvy and data, this video is for them.
      The length weeds out people not ready to be serious or who want easy things and short cuts.
      49 minutes will save people months of frustration.

    • @FinancialEducation
      @FinancialEducation 8 років тому +1

      +Roberto Blake completely agree! I just watched a Marquez brownlee video where he had like 75 subscriber at 100 videos. Now he is one of the most powerful tech reviewers in the world. So many people think youtube is "easy" and when they post a few videos and they find that they haven't gone viral or something crazy... They just give up... Kind of like this video.. Some people see it is 49 minutes of advice and they just.... Give up 😒

      More than anything you have to be consistent and always objective with yourself and ask if you gave something you did the best shot at reaching as many people as possible. I would question one point made in this video (and also made by several other youtubers) - this idea that you have to promise to deliver videos on a certain schedule and stick to it - WHY??
    If I've been enjoying your videos twice a week, and you switch to twice a month, I'm still going to enjoy your videos. You don't need to apologise for missing a week - it just makes you seen insecure about your own content.
    I'm not going to unsubscribe from your channel just because I would like to hear from you more often - that makes no sense. I HAVE unsubscribed from channels which post every day, because a) it's a little overwhelming, and b) the quality tends to suffer when the quantity is this high.
    So I would say aim to get plenty of content out there, but always put quality before quantity.

    • @funawesomefamily
      @funawesomefamily 8 років тому

      I think if you do have amazing content a schedule isn't necessary but a schedule can only help because then your viewers can expect to see you and you will get more views in the first 48 hours of uploading.
      I have been horrible at keeping a schedule. When I'm consistent and tend to get more interaction early on. So a few times I've tried making daily videos at the expense of quality and these videos always do much worse then a consistent weekly video.
      The key is to find a pace that works for you where your quality can be consistent.

    I've moved to twice daily uploads now. I'm taking UA-cam as seriously as possible now, alternating between hyperlocal content (high demand, not much video content) which gets me the most interaction and views. I've seen the first 15 minutes of your video and will continue later.
    I think the problem with my channel's growth is that it focuses on gaming and it's in Arabic.
    I am only targeting a specific category of people. Most people don't care about games and usually
    the first movers are the ones that achieve massive growth.
    Don't get me wrong my channel is growing but not by much.
    I feel like I want to have a channel that will have 1 million+ subscribers
    and I don't think I'll achieve that goal with this channel.

      Thanks so much! Yeah, in itself the length may turn some people off, but at the same time I feel like it was something I need to make, 1 single video with a general outline of exactly what it takes. Since making this video I've almost added 100K more subscribers to this community and I think that shows even more proof of the thesis behind it.

    This is some good advice. I try to do daily VLOGS, but make them engaging with a variety of camera shots and quick-thinking opinions. I really hope i can grow and stick with this channel, i've been on youtube for years with a variety of channels wrestling channel, gaming channel ect. But i feel that these VLOGS I'm doing are more rewards and i'm really trying to improve by making them more snappy - i don't want 3 minute shots of me talking into a camera and a quick cutaway, trying to create quick 30 second-60 second shots into a camera, but then do a variety of different angles to engage my audience. Thanks for this video Roberto Blake.

    I've watched your videos and have been putting in strong work, uploads everyday and consistently getting better in editing and interacting in my videos. I hope it pays off someday. and you're right you have to be doing this for fun and not to try and get famous and rich!

    First time I have seen this video and I can say everything you are saying in this video is spot on! I have had slow steady growth on our channel for years now and I plan on taking more from what you have said here and applying it to our vlog channel. I've been following you on Twitter for a while now and today I can now say I am a Subscriber to ya as well. Thanks for the knowledge you are dropping!

    I have just started back up after a while.
    I have just under 10k subs but been away for a long time.
    This video was amazing!
    The tips have been great and I really appreciate this.
    You are a great man.
    Keep up the great work.

    Wow Roberto, I totally agree with what you said about the length of a video. I had people who suggests me to make short videos but my point of view is the same as yours. My purpose is to build a relationship and motivate others to live a healthy lifestyle by sharing my way of eating healthy and delicious food, and my yoga practice experience. I didn't want to shrink my videos into just 5 minutes because like you said, it is watered down and platforms such as instagram and Facebook can be better used for short messages and tips! And I have to confess, I came to see who would be interested in my channel and sub but instead I watched your video and subbed you!

    I think this video has a lot of great content. I originally wasn't going to watch if you had under 100k in the first place so I'm glad I watched a few months after you posted it, especially since you've grown a lot in terms of subscriber amount in the little time since it's been posted. Thank you!

      Roberto Blake I never knew what tube buddy was, or did I use Keywords, or anything like that. Already Tube Buddy has been a big help.

    Thank you for taking the time to make this. Helpful info which taught me to focus more on quality and getting better at making the videos vs. being too focused on subscribers. I re organised my channel and am working on getting professional art done to give that professional look.

    Hey from NZ Roberto! Thank you so much for this. I'm an audio creator here on UA-cam (so no visuals), and it's funny - back in June of last year when I started, I was releasing like, 1 audio a month if that. And I knew NOTHING about how to optimize. Then I had an audio hit that's given me a relatively stable sub base, and for at least the last month, I've been focussing on putting out regular and diverse content coz I'm DEFS not here for the fame. I'm here to share my perspective and creativity. I know I'm in this for the long haul and am consuming content from you, Derral and Tim like lollies at the moment (I just signed up to Tim's Patreon a few mins ago actually). And I'm trialling out TubeBuddy (and LOVING it). I'm working on SEO right now and will be looking at some of my old stuff to re-optimize. Anyways - thank you again! This was awesome ☯️

I was watching your newest video but saw this thumbnail and had to come here instead, it just made too much sense :) I like it when people leave comments like below that get a large response from you because you will reply with interesting info in there too.

    Loved the tip about bulk recording and bulk editing - I'm approaching ten videos and have already started doing two or three in one sitting! I've also found heaps of great channels in the comments here 😊

    Word. I do love the way you talk, just the push and pull of your dialog is engrossing. I am pretty sure I have said that before but it is true. You make meal size videos and I make snack food. I wish I knew as much about the tech and analytical part of this stuff as you do but I am just a film maker and idea guy I have content and the marketing of it is a low part for me. I really like your videos and value your wisdom. Thanks for doing what you do. Best day & Best wishes to you & yours. :)
