I have had on a few occasions where the squirrel would climb up the building, but not too much of an issue and unfortunately not much you can do. There are some foods out there that are spicy that squirrels won't like perhaps you can try.
Aren't birds afraid of human movement inside the house? I'm planning to buy one ant put it on my kitchen window, but I'm afraid they will be scared of cooking noises and my movement.
Some birds will do fine and some birds may be scared but they'll get used to you and it's a great experience for me when I see the birds right at my window and really get to enjoy that experience and I know you will as well.
I watch them in the window while doing dishes. I work during the day, so I know that can scatter often because I’m not home as often. but I shut off the kitchen light behind me and it does help. As much as they may be skiddish of me, if the bird feeder gets empty, they will sit in the empty bird feeder an peck at the window to get my attention 😅

Look at this one (Homebird Window Bird Feeder), even there isn't threaded suction but the design is so much nicer and clever too, opened sides more clear view, thick materials. that threaded suctions not always better, I had exp. with them in life and they failing quick. They are good but not for long, I believe if suction pads a quality ones they probably will be better then threaded ones especially when is used outdoor. Threaded are good for a heavy things but they don't last, uv weather ruins plastic quicker then the pads and they will become useless quicker, but for wet towel they will be stronger in a showeroom on glass then just a pads. Even tho will have to be replaced often. but for that light thing like feeder I think is more clever just a good quality pads :) Yah I'm going for them maybe even couple :)
