I’m the First Officer on Delta Flight 75 to Atlanta. You are correct we had hot brakes. Left the gear down longer than normal to cool them off. I was just told about your channel. I love it. I’ve been flying to Amsterdam now 12 years and love the Netherlands and the Dutch people!! 🛫👨‍✈️

Hi there, and welcome to the channel! 😇How come those brakes get overheated? Do you use the brakes so much during taxi? Never noticed excessive brake use by the taxiing pilots when onboard as a passenger 😄

@@AMSLIVE We had our number one brake slightly drag as we taxied out. We flew the same plane into AMS Sunday morning. That same wheel got hotter than the rest. Maintenance will have to readjust that brake at some point. I will be flying back to AMS Friday morning on flt 74. I’m very impressed that you noticed that the gear was down longer than normal!!

@@wam001 So it's usually that a brake drags while in the cockpit you guys fully released it, in other words, it usually indicates an issue that requires brake recalibration? Or do overheating issues also sometimes occur when there's no issue, e.g. accidentally not fully releasing the brake or something? It wasn't hard to spot your gear was staying down longer than normal though; if you've seen enough departures, you'll see quickly enough 😂

@@AMSLIVEit occurs under both scenarios. Sometimes it’s a mechanical issue and sometimes it’s the Captain applying the brakes too often on taxi out. It is a very long taxi from the terminal to 36L. Airbus does have brake cooling fans as an option. But Delta planes don’t have them.
