    I had a mess the other day on an old Coleman air handler in a mobile home. Several burned wires along with a faulty blower motor, burned fan relay and scorched limit switch. I replaced all the faulty stuff and still couldn’t get one of the heat strips to glow. The female blade connector was loose. Funny how stuff loosens over time. This things was 20+ years old.

  • @throttlebottle5906
    @throttlebottle5906 Рік тому +1

    if the fuse loosened up to break connection or is intermittent, then other terminals and solder joints are likely bad or ready to fail. It's best to replace the board in that case and clean/replace blower wheel if it's out of balance. because we all know how electronics love vibration.🤪

    I don’t know if you have time to answer this question but here goes. About 2yrs ago my blower motor stopped turning and was making a humming sound. I’m not a heating and air condition guy but I did train in the electrical/electronics field. So I just oiled the motor and changed the startup capacitor. It’s been working since. Why don’t I see more technicians do the same instead of changing out the motor. To me that would save the customer money and the technician time installing one that maybe has some years left? Inform the customer that the repair may last a year or more and maybe down the line you still replace it and therefore you would have may more money from that one job.

      @dfirth224 Рік тому

      @@staind288 Wall heaters (not really a furnace) are very common in smaller homes. Here in California even Home Depot carries them. Safer than floor furnaces. One advantage to natural gas or propane wall heaters is they don't require electricity to operate. Millivolt current is provided by pilot generator to operate the thermostat and gas valve. You can also buy electric wall heaters where they have cheap electric rates. Propane is for rural areas too far from natural gas lines.

      I wouldn't be surprised if that table "or whatever it is" was in front of the furnace access, to begin with. Whether it bothers you or not, really depends on the customer. An older lady or gent may need to be shown some compassion and grace. Young or abled bodies, nicely ask them to move their stuff. Even middle-aged, it's a judgment call. Some people have disabilities and physical limitations and it's not obvious till they have to do a certain task.

    Why didn't you cycle the furnace off instead of releasing door switch off? You had the furnace all heated up(heat exchanger) then you cut power to the blower motor. I don't think thats a good idea. Its not good on any brand furnace, especially a Rheem.
