The first time this aired in the seventies, I was rolling on the floor holding my gut, trying to get more oxygen in a fit of laughter. That sketch got me every time, I think, because there were so many local crappily made commercials like it at the time.
I'm British, so I've only just discovered SCTV, but I'm really loving watching clips from it - Andrea Martin is brilliant as Edna Boil and Mrs Falbo. I've lost count of how many times I've watched this sketch now - particularly loving Biggie and his 'functional lurex legwarmers' !!
Ack! Argh! They got me...right in my Achilles heel...cute little toy poodles...dressed in fancy Christmas clothes...walking on their hind legs...and being cuter than anything has a right to be...so cute... This is the first time I've seen this, as far as I can recall. It's now one of my favorite things.
I just reemerge a wonderful era when I was watching early year classic Saturday Night Live and The Second City from Canada. I think it came a little after a period of time when I discovered Monty Python.
To put this into context, and long time viewers will remember that it was always "Tex and Edna Boil's Prairie Warehouse and Curio Emporium" until they had a falling out when Tex showed up drunk for a filming of a commercial. They parted ways and now it's Rex the dog instead of her husband Tex ( played by Dave Thomas ).
Hey Edna. Glad you ditched the 'Ball and Chain'. It's Love this time. Willing to give up MY wife of 36 years to spend the rest of our days singing together and playing with my organ. Pretty Please? S.C.T.V. Brilliant.
I love local commercial parodies like this with Andrea Martin acting like an average business person with no talent or camera presence. This show hardly ever had a skit that fell flat or went on too long
I hear tell Tex grew out his hair and beard, traded in the organ for a frame drum and joined the men’s mythopoetic movement. He tries to support himself by making dream catchers and selling them at New Age festivals. I understand it ain’t working out too well for him.
Actually, if you watch the commercials in order (someone should post them all together, in order), Tex, who had serious problems, offed himself, tragically. Edna's sister Edith Prickley, owner of the station, stepped in to help her and was a rock of support lol
40+ years later, and I'm telling my wife, "That's right Edna..."
Forty years later and this kooky lady still cracks me up 😂!!!!

I'm crying. This is so absurdly funny,
This is the greatest thing I’ve have ever witnessed!
"Here's Butch dressed as a succubus! Just kidding, I don't know Latin." 😄
ua-cam.com/video/TaW75Ou8mKw/v-deo.html
That is possibly the greatest thing i've ever seen 😂🎉
Andrea is masterful in this hysterical skits!
Edna was so awkward with her gestures and inflection. Loved it. Don’t get me started on Mrs. Falbo, Edith Prickley or especially Pironi Scleroso.
Right? It's the little details that show how good they are. Reminds me of John Candy's character on Pre-Teen World who keeps reflexively swallowing.
Pironi Scleroso, ka in so good
Hilarious. Love the arm gestures!
That is so insane that it works!
Sorry to hear about Tex and Edna’s split.
I love it when I need a good laugh & my brain just leads me to silly, HILARIOUS memories like this! The best of SCTV😂
Edna is getting over her awkwardness and becoming a true natural in front of the camera lol
It makes pure existential sense that Edna and Edith would be sisters!
A smart crushed velvet with a Peter Pan collar . Doesn’t get more creative than that. 🙌🏻

After Tex left her (literally), Edna got new glasses and learned to let her real beauty come out lol
that's right, edna

Let me not forget the other two or three toy breeds shown, like Rex and one of the Wise Men. Little dogs = big love = critical levels of cuteness.
Brings back the old times. Awesome entertainment.
Little Biggie LMAO 🤣
Andrea Martin cracks me up!
Hoping they will open an online shop soon.
her impeccably, poorly timed gestures are hysterical, and had to be sooo difficult to pull off so well.
I just reemerge a wonderful era when I was watching early year classic Saturday Night Live and The Second City from Canada. I think it came a little after a period of time when I discovered Monty Python.
Oh, at long last, I find this. THANK YOU!
if i had to pick the three very best talents throughout sctv i would have to say andrea martin, eugene levy, joe flaherty.
Edna is becoming a real natural in front of the camera in comparison to the early days with her ex, Tex lol

what about Stan and Edna?
Wasn't there also an organ imporium?
@@MsTabitha1967 there was indeed.
oh!!!! I forgot this one. Sent it to our sons. I will be her in twenty years. HAHA
I miss these days.
Rex is doing a fine job on the ivories.
Edna got new glasses for her new life without Tex lol
I don't know. Don't you think Edna had an entire collection of glasses?
Rex seems to be trained to look at the camera when his name is called, but the bark is dubbed.
Rex is palying the role generaly played by her husband.
andrea martin is fabulous ❤
Always loved those "fashion glasses" !!! Come on down!!
I will never forgive Tex and how he emberassed Edna.
Thank you, Buttons!
Man, I was driving all over downtown today looking for that place. Must have spent half a day looking. Can anyone tell me if they moved?
Dog had leotards on 😅
Be careful Rex! Remember the Budgies!!!
What is a "Budgie"?

S.C.T.V. Brilliant.
Histerical. This is Ediths sister. Andrea Martin is awesome!
Who's Rex? What happened to Tex? Is Rex responsible for breaking up Tex and Edna? Inquiring minds... 😎
You need to watch the whole series, in order.
Ditched Tex. Hot new glasses LOL
No, I stand corrected. Tex ditched Edna. He couldn't take it anymore LOL
I love local commercial parodies like this with Andrea Martin acting like an average business person with no talent or camera presence. This show hardly ever had a skit that fell flat or went on too long
Poor ol' Edna. Second billing to a dog.
For those who don't know why Tex is no longer in the picture, he left Edna for Peirini Scleroso.
They don't make sketches like this anymore. I didn't say geed-a-long little doggy!
😂😂

Not to be a party pooper, but this is almost depressing.
Much of good comedy is dark. Think " kingpin ".
Little Biggie?
Right Rex?
Was Andrea Martin expecting in real life here?

i brought the kids down there last weekend and they were out of budgies, very dissapointing.
Edna is the hottest chic on TV.
Budgie must be Canadian for Chicken
Budgie is short for Budgerigar - it's a small parrot.
