Mr. Justin , your son looks up at you, like I would imagine you looked at your dad!!! What a beautiful Blessing!!! Your father would be proud 🙏🏼
Indeed... I noticed that too... Kind of expectantly, like "How was that?"
Well done, Saxon! That degree of scrutiny, knowing thousands would be watching later, would have me just a tad on edge. You handled that like a pro! I love the shape of that opal; my favorite!
Thank you Stephanie
What a beautiful gift to be able to continue your dear father’s legacy now to your own son! I felt the emotion as he sat with the lighter & wax! Well done teacher & student! Beautiful gems for generations 🎉
Love to see a father and son interacting. Sure he's gonna learn well and be successful.
It was heartwarming to watch the 2 of you work together, and I cried a little when Saxon picked up the lighter. I think the opal turned out beautiful!
Thank you for letting us share in your precious family moment. I love that you'll have the video to look back on any time in the future. I hope you all have a lovely day 😊
Being able to pass on your knowledge of stone work to your son is a precious gift for both of you. Your father would be proud of both of you.
Saying hi from Huntington Beach California. I really enjoy seeing you and your boy. Reminds me of my dad teaching me the jeweler trade in the 80s...I was 16 years old learning to make 18k gold jewelry.
I'm 52 now😁
I'm sure you'll both cherish these times for the rest of your lives 😊👍
Yes I will remember this and also we have it on video to watch back again and again
It is so nice to see your son learning from a master! You have to be so proud of him!
Yes, thank you I am
@@blackopaldirecthey Justin, I appear to be in UA-cam jail. I'm no longer able to comment on your content. I never violated the community guidelines, so please set me free once again. Thank you!
I has really great to see Saxon cut his first opal, and to see you give him positive reinforcement on how to correct his errors. With you teaching him, he will be a great Opal cutter one day, just like his Dad, and your Dad.
Poor Saxon with his floppy dopstick. Lovely to see the craft being passed on.
Nice to see two generations of knowledge, experience and expertise passing on to the third.
Definitely enjoyed seeing Saxon learning from you. Wonderful to see this passed on from father to son.
So heartwarming to see this video with father & son! ❤ Since I’m also a father, it humbles me to be part of your journey. Thank you Justin & Saxon. Looking forward to many more episodes. Blessings and good health to all. 🙏🏻
Love watching you teaching your son. Such a great kid, and him wanting to learn. Warmed my heart and brought a tear to my eye. You show such love and respect for each other . Saxon couldn't have a better teacher. And he knows it. You can tell how proud he is of you. Blessings and may you two be working together for a lone long time. 💞😉
This was so lovely to watch, thanks for sharing this special father-son rite of passage ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Enjoyed your video...and a note to your son, "Have patience with dear old dad, he's got many years of experience he's trying to squeeze into every minute of advice".
Saxon has an artists hands and focus. What a great skill to learn. I can see him enjoying it even more as he progresses. His quiet personality is adorable. What a sweet kid. How lucky to be your kid, too! 👊❤
Awesome job. I love the father and son passing of the touch through generations. It's a beautiful thing. Father is proud but so would be the grandfather. Keep up the good works gentlemen.
Saxon sounds like a man of few words. He must watch many of your videos, I think, and then he'll learn to talk about his thoughts. He cleaned it up well! Shaping will come with experience. ❤
He has many words lol. Sometimes I can't stop him talking
😂
❤ Learning is soo great!
Well done Saxon! Justin, you must be super proud. I love seeing a trade, an art form, passed down through the generations. This made my day!
I almost teared up watching Saxon lighting the flame with your father's lighter. I bet your heart was filled to bursting with emotion also. Kudos Saxon, you are learning from the best! ❤❤❤😢✌🇨🇦
So kind thank you
😢Indeed... How Blessed we are to see the Beginnings of a Torch being passed from one Generation to the next🔥
This “vids with the kid” thing is your best content hands down. Just gets ya right in the feels, the old boy would be watching with the biggest smile👌🇦🇺
I suggest a playlist with his whole journey
Nice to see you guiding Saxon through the next step in both of your lives.❤
More to come!
🥰...special dad and son moment....love it ! Must have brought you back to when your dad was teaching you...
So charming watching you mentor your son and watching him learn. So beautiful.
This was so sweet to watch. Thank you for making this video.
My Dad passed when I was around Saxons age, and I'd give anything to go back in time and experience a moment like this. What a lucky guy he is to have a father like you. Seeing skilled craftsmanship being handed down through generational knowledge is such a beautiful thing and something I'm afraid is being lost over time. Regardless whether he chooses to pursue opal cutting or not, this is very special. Thank you for sharing this with the us Justin.
He's going to be a top notch opal cutter. It's in his blood. He's got two generations of experts before him.
Saxon certainly inherited the gift. That stone was a beauty. Love watching a father pass on the skills to the son.❤😮😊
Very nice stone cut by you, Saxon. Every little mistake is a learning experience. Always keep your mind open to learning more, Saxon!! You're just starting to follow in the family tradition, and you did a marvelous job with this beautiful, high dome, crystal Opal that was full of colour!! Job well done, mate!! From your friend, a Retired Paramedic, and an S&R Dog and Handler Team Trainer and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
Hey Mr. Saxon! Be patient with your self and with your Father’s guidance and advice…. It takes a long time to become the perfect cutter, as your father knows! He’s been there too - many years ago! Good thing is that you have a rare teacher in a rare career. Patience pays off, Kiddo! ☺️ 👍 🖖✌️ 🪨
Saxon has the best possible teacher im sure he will be as good as you in no time
Saxon is very lucky to have you as a mentor. It also shows how difficult it is working with opals.
This was so nice to watch. I got a bit teary-eyed watching Saxon using his grandad's lighter to light the burner. He did an amazing job!! Justin, you must be so proud!
This is one of the most touching videos you've ever shared with us Justin. Well done Saxon! You are already an amazing artisan!
What I liked was that Saxon was asking the right questions. Your visible pride in listening to those questions told the story of father/son relations. He and his dad are true friends.
Well done Saxon and Justin ....its all about craftmanship and skill !
What a wonderful tradition to pass from father to son. I hope that Saxon will continue to develop his skills and carry it on.
What a wonderful experience to have with your son, Justin. A proud moment for both of you. Wishing you all the best in life. 😊
And thanks to the Interweb, an Old Saxon can go back and watch Vids of him and The Old Man, way back when👴
That was amazing. Thank You! Got a little teary when he picked up that lighter. 💝
Great job Saxson 🎉 & great job Justin ❤.
There is certainly an art in any craft.
The fact you are happy to impart & share your knowledge is tremendous 👏 and patience to spend time with those willing to learn.
Bravo 🙌 men 🍺🥃🍻👌
Thank you so much 😀
I imagined your dad watching over you and smiling down on both of you as pass the skills your father taught you on to Saxon. It warms my heart that the legacy will live on💕 some day it will be him taking about what his journey with you!
I was especially misty-eyed when Saxon reached for that Zippo🔥
Justin, it would be great to see more of these videos with Saxon's learning process ❤
Saxon, you made a gorgeous gem ! You're a wonderful son! I hope you will continue to learn everything your dad can teach you about opal!
These videos of your sons journey are absolutely perfect. Good opal lessons and life lessons for all of us.
Glad you like them!
It's so cool that you're son is doing such a good job. Love you guys so much 💖
I am so glad Saxon is developing such an interest in your passion. You obviously have a pretty good relationship that he wants to participate in 'your world'.
Beautiful Opal Saxon!!! This is an AMAZING video for beginners!! LIVE AND LEARN!!! TY Justin and your SON!!! What a LEGACY!!! BOTH of you, please be patient, and be the ULTIMATE BLACK OPAL shapers TOGETHER!!!
Super cool that Saxson wants to learn your amazing skill and that you are willing to take the time to teach him.
Justin you were very clear and precise directing Saxon. What a wonderful relationship you both share. Well done Saxon, your not just a lovely looking lad, you have great skills too, just like your Dad. Thank you Justin for sharing a bit of your private world with us, and also to Black Opal Direct, always love Tuesdays and the newest episode ........ Until next week...........
Yay thank you Top cat and thank you for always being there to support
Oh this brings tears to my eyes and it's an honor to watch you Justin guide your son Saxon in the art of opal cutting! You dad must watch you both with joy from above, thats for sure! Good luck Saxon and I think you did a great job with that beautiful crystal opal!👋💎👍
Thank you Susanne ❤️❤️
@@blackopaldirect 👋♥️👍
Saxon, well done! I love how you and your dad worked so well together. You should both be so proud!
Great to see the expertise being passed on
Justin , this is so cool to see you with your Son💕!
Love it 😍❣️
I think he has a strong eye for polishing. The process of evaluating a stone prior to starting will take a bit more effort. Can't wait to see the days when he is at the wheel adapting and flowing with each stone and how it wants to be cut. Good job guys
What's amazing is, I got just about as much enjoyment watching your son learn as you did. Top father, and amazing son duo
I think its really important to show these types of videos, there are aspects of skill in EVERY single thing you show us, and to post videos of a true beginner helps lower viewer's expectations of their own lapidary journey.
I'm still not that fast at making cabs and I've been doing it at least once a week for almost 1 year. being as fast as Justin really does take years, but I'm already implementing some of the techniques I've seen on this channel, it changed my process immediately!
It was so cute to see the dopping process, especially when the wax was twisted...showing mistakes, and especially documenting them to look back on as Saxon progresses, will be really cool/helpful, and it will be a great series, if you make father son videos a regular thing. I know I'd watch them
Love this video Justin. I’m excited to see Saxons journey through his family legacy. ❤
Great job kid. You are lucky to have the teacher and tools that you have. Don't get discouraged. You have an amazing opportunity at your fingertips, and I wish you an abundant journey with an amazing outcome. I wish I could have been so lucky. Please don't take for granted the opportunity you have been given. 👍🏼
Saxon, You have a very wise father he is an excellent teacher and you can learn a lot from him. That said your Father has his skills from his Father, who was also an excellent teacher. Your beginning stone the potch from your previous cutting was great, i thought. this one is a marked improvement so don't be too hard on yourself there are always mistakes or we cannot learn anything. I think this stone looks so beautiful and you did a great job. Justin, I love how you teach Saxon what to do by letting him do it sometimes this is the only way to learn a skill like this I think your Father would be proud of you both today. I think Saxon given the time to hone his skills as a cutter that will rival your own skills. He is eager to learn which is great and he listens well to your expertise, so he will make you more proud of him than you are already that is evident already. Great job Saxon. Well done. God bless you both.
Thank you
❤❤❤ them and the gems they lovingly bring to life.... The opal somehow absorbs and reflects the ❤ and I think that tiny gem ✨ ✨ fashioned with ❤ by father and son... and again father and son, is if a proud grand dad was not standing over them smiling...., this gem holds the memory and love.... Of generations.... It's beautiful.... more priceless than..... Dare I say??? ... That stone is priceless for the lucky owner who can wear that ❤ eternally ..... the dipstick moment guys ❤❤❤❤
. How much is this priceless gem?
To wear the ❤❤❤ of three men?
THANK u....
From Saxony.... England
I have watched as many of your videos as I could, and have never commented until now. This was so fun to watch. What beautiful thing to witness, the passing on of the family knowledge.
Wow, dad.... excellent tutoring. You gently built confidence into your son and his skills.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow! Two peas in a pod!!! 🟢🟢
A great first attempt, Saxon! 🌈
You must be so proud, Justin as would your Dad be too.
Love from the UK! x
I can see that Saxon has an eye, and innate feel for the craft.
Looking forward to his producing outstanding cut opals.
Well done, Saxon! Think you are well on your way, following in your Dad's footsteps. Can see your Dad is very proud and rightfully so. Keep it up and share with us.
You have a very talented dad to learn from.
Awesome job Saxon! What a gift to be able to work with your father. ❤
Wow! What an amazing job Saxon. Don't be afraid to grind on those fingertips, they'll grow back eventually. LOL
What a great job Saxon! You will only get better as time goes by! I don’t know how you were able to hold the gem so well, I’d be all thumbs 😮. ❤BOD
Thanks so much!
Can't wait to see more of Saxon's lessons on bigger pieces.
This is a heart warming video great to see father and son together and enjoying something together guys keep it coming
Thank you
How cute ....his smile looks just like yours!
Excellent work, Saxon. A nice little blue gumdrop you have created! Certainly, it doesn't hurt to have great equipment and the best teacher I know standing at your side.
When I got a good look at that rough close up I knew that, should I be the owner, I would be taking that sand off the back. But that has NOTHING to do with my fetish for double sided stones. NOPE, not a thing!
lol thanks Don
The opal is nice, and the skills are amazing, however it's the family time I see as the highlight here. My 8 year old daughter and I are both on the opal cutting journey. The time spent learning together is far more precious than opal ❤
How wonderful that your son is learning your amazing craft!
This was a great video. Your son is a very smart and handsome man just like his dad. So nice to see a younger person putting forth effort to learn a trade. He already seems to have a knack for the trade, his hands are very steady.
love seing Saxon do such a good job, if we already are proud of him, imagine Justin! He can start his own collection with this one
I'd be pretty damn stoked with myself if I managed to pull off that good of a creation/piece as my end result for a beginner!! Top effort Saxton🙌🏽I look forward to watching you progress up the 'Opal cutting & knowledge' ladder. You are blessed from the get go simply by having the genes that you have..some spectacular Opal Guru predecessors. May the knowledge of that alone encourage & guide you on your quest. You couldn't ask for a better teacher to teach you imho(as well as having your Grandad always near &watching over you too🙏🏽) Remember practice makes permanent🙌🏽💎
I already can't wait to see the follow-up to this video, when the student becomes the master😎.
I loved this video so much. You talking about finger dexterity taking years and then your son doing it reminded me what watching a master looks like. You make cutting look effortless. I thought this would be a cool hobby, but this video made me realize I don't have the time. Thanks for your content.
Well on his way, practice practice practice!!
Great looking stone too!
Such a touching video! You guys have the same smile.
You are so kind
This is going to be fun watching him progress!
What an opportunity for the young man!
Really nice vid of you and your son, enjoyable to watch. Would be good to see him progress in a vid every now and then 😊
What an awesome video this was.
Not only do we get the benefit of your son’s tutoring, but we also get to see a legacy being actively passed to the next generation 👍.
I think your son cut an excellent gem. I like the high dome gems a little more as they give me the feeling like I’m getting more (if that makes sense), plus the depth of a high domed gem Opal like that really adds to a 3D appearance, sort of like a magnifying glass.
You guys are just super awesome for sharing these experiences with us.
Thank you for that
Thank you for sharing your Incredible journey, I really appreciate cc/subtitles, I'm hearing impaired, I dont want to miss anything you say.
father and son interaction in all aspects of life is special great video i would love to see more like this thanks to you both keep it up saxon
What an incredibly hansom and smart young man you have raised!!! Love seeing another generation of beautiful opal gem creators!! Love to you all! PS Oh the jokes I could have made if this wasn't such a beautiful wholesome family show!! lol Love you guys!!!! Oh and PSS I am LOVING alot of the new boulder opal on the website!!! I absolutely love the boulder opal, especially if it has a blue seam that looks like lightning!!! That beautiful bright blue against the warm brown is just glorious!!! So cool and so pretty :)
Well done Saxon,it all takes time and patience mate, keep up the great work.I have never done this,so your Dad is teaching you 👍 😀 well, good one Justin 😀 proud Dad.From Harry in Sydney.
Good job Saxon. Although I am no Justin to the game, I know the feeling when I taught my daughter how to cut opal and gems. Great times.
Great job. That was a genuine pleasure to watch. Saxon, keep it up. You have real talent and a superb teacher. 👍💯
I love it. Nice job showing us your son, and being very patient. He looks like he wants to learn, but might be a bit intimidated by the master.
Thanks for being a good father ❤
Watching this made me a bit teary. What a lovely experience for you both!
Well done Saxon 👏👍❤️
Sorry for a second comment Saxons first stone would be very valuable as he continues cutting a tear came to my eye as I thought of his grandfather was watching your a special young man my hopes are to see future episodes of black opal direct with Saxon as a master cutter thank you both
Well done Saxon 💛
Love this. Hope to see more of father and son❤❤
Wow, handsome kid indeed, carry on the legacy Saxon 😊
Thank you
