- Spent the weekend at the 2018 Vintage electronics expo with Marcia and Emi (shortwave girl) Had a great time with friends. Met some new ones that subscribe to my channel. Of course the regulars were there, giving me a bad time. Always a good way to spend the weekend. Many nice antique radios, record players, test equipment and Ham gear. I picked up a few new pieces of gear. Some real nice ones for repair and presentations for you to see. This year the attendance way way down. Everyone was disappointed. Please check out the club and see if you can make it next year. Bring some young ones, so they can experience the hobby. The big Detroit event is coming up January. See: Thevee.org for more info.

PS It makes me smile to see kids interested in anything old. She obviously enjoys the show & the radios. Excellent.
You’re the best, Ter. Thanks for all you do (and have done!) 🤙
the first minute was a real lesson for both of us, really great stuff.
Great video work, wonderful characters in the expo. Nice seeing Mullard valves there, an engineering tutor who taught me lathe/milling 30 years ago worked for them in the 50s/60s. Following the comments from previous commentators, I wish there were vintage fairs like this in Southern Spain. However did get lucky, my valve tester (tube checker to my American cousins!) is from one of the USAF bases here, Hickock TV-7 from 1961/2...Bloody good!!!! Best wishes....BTW, teaching my 12 year old son electronics, though he is scared of valves, he actually built his first radio from a busted toy plasma ball, ripped out the transistor, various capacitors and resistors. I just gave him a ferrite core antenna, and an earphone, and although he only had fixed capacitor values, it did tune to a radio station!....
Only in 15 minutes and blown away, man o man we have to have one of these in the mid atlantic this is like dope, more you see the more you want to see, Totally Awesome Dude, thanks for sharing.
Terry, it was nice to meet you and Marcia and "Shortwave Girl" today. Thanks for putting me on your video. Mike KO9Q from South Bend. 73
Great, heart warming vid.
Thanks for sharing your trip Terry love seeing all that vintage goodies 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌
I enjoyed your tour, especially with your wife and granddaughter. I felt as if I was right there with the three of you. Reminded me of events I've attended with my wife and granddaughter.
I really enjoy these video's.....you do a great job having a good slow look around.....thanks for your effort
I think that the videos you put out with your younger ones are great! You should Thank God that the daughters take after you wife side of the family... 73
Nice!! SWG is too cute, can't wait to see her vid!! Thanks for taking us along!
Her video just posted!
Watching here in UK. Love the vids! Just getting into this crazy hobby!
Smart girl !! I liked the wagon ride too!! 😂
Darn it! How did I miss this? I went last year and was thrilled to meet you. I even made it into your video! I'm salivating, looking at all the great items I missed. It would have been great fun to meet Shortwave Girl!
Man, I wish they had something like this in Florida. Inside in the A/C...
Man O man those Art Deco radios are too cool!!!!
I ended up buying those Brown Bendix along with the white Bendix radios that your granddaughter liked at that one booth. I got them in the Silent auction.
That looked fun, I miss Michigan. I dug that WLAV monitor!
She is one year old than my Grand daughter and Emi looks so much like her. Just like my grand daughter she is growing so fast.
Can imagine Emi at a dinner party with friends in 20 years time.Going on about her old Dinosaur Grandpa Terry and rather than taking her somewhere nice for kids he would take her to some EXPO show full of more old Grandpa dinosaurs who were selling lots of old rusty broken dinosaur radios and valves and junk! (What were radios and valves Emi?) ha ha!! Love her Bless! x
It was nice meeting you, Marcia and Emi today. It was my first time at the extravaganza. Compared to your previous videos I was a little disappointed that it seemed like the turn out was not as it has been in your past videos. Your comment above confirms my thoughts. Maybe next year. Hey! Who makes the snowman shaped pita or tortillas you were having for lunch. I have never seen those before. I thought it was cool the way you can fold them in half to make a round sandwich with them. Look forward to seeing what you picked up at the meet. .
Man! Wish I would have known about this. You walked right past a DBX 117 that would have come home with me hehe fun video man!
DLAB always follow interesting videos that publish, too bad that in Italy there are no fairs like these, but only small local markets, I hope one day to be able to visit your fairs, I really like the American radio, in particular ZENITH, I have repaired some EMERSON and RCA, I believe that in the '30s and' 40s they were the best radio radios in the world
Thanks for the video! Any advice for finding vintage audio/radio shows near NYC?
Very depressing and very puzzling to me to see bloody balarva of many radios industrial designers of yesteryears that from all available choices of shapes and forms, they took comfort in a coffin shaped enclosure. Once makers grew tired of that, they made it look like a tombstone, and notwithstanding the death and grave motive, cough cough, designers later started making radios shaped like a church cathedral. Bravo, Really inspirational? Those top hinged coffins really sad to see people actually put these radios in their living room! Tombstone ones must have came across so cheerful! being a step upwards gravely. Great Video - thoroughly enjoyed. Best
Very nice thanks
Your video has answered a question I've had for some time. At the 26:55 mark there is a small G.E. picture tube sign shown clipped on a base. I have that sign with slightly different text (and a mirror on the other side.) When I got it I couldn't figure out what that metal clip at the bottom was for. I couldn't stand it upright and if I hung it from something the text was upside down. I see now that mine is missing the base for the sign to connect to. The service shop could have placed it on the counter or in the window. Long-standing mystery solved - thanks!
Познавательно, спасибо.
A real treasure trove and BTW Terry, "grandma" is a total beauty queen !
cheers
10:44 I like that bullhorn, it's screamin geetar!
Man I would love to go but I would have to bring a lot of money!!!!!!!!!
Saw some philco highboys. 14:06 i have that same 13" B&W
A lot of cool stuff there. Check out Best Buy for the latest Macintosh audio tube amp. It's gorgeous and expensive.
Next show is Sat, Feb 1 2020 back at the Costick Center in Farmington Hills, MI. see the event site www.thevee.org
last year over 1100 came thru the door and over 125 tables sold out.
Hi Terry! We have never met, but I am subscribed to your channel. Anyways, I see I just missed this event. 😕. When will another event like this take place here? I am in Eastern Iowa, so not too far away. Thanks!!
At time 13:22 you spoke with a man that you knew, on his table was an Echophone Commerical Radio I would be interested if I could get his contact info to see if that radio was still available??
I need to keep an eye open for this and the HAM Fests around here. I'm only about an hour away and never heard about this or the HAM Fest last week =(
Love your vids! You've been a big help! Hope to meet you eventually.

Do you ever let your grand daughter pick out stuff there, man I wish we had something like that in ca.so many great finds
Very nice. Thanks for taking us along. Do you have a online store, or can recommend some reputable online vendors? I'd love to have a few vintage radio's, but I'm limited to online shopping and just don't trust too many people online.
I saw that s-42b...lol You walked past it.
Is there anything like this in the Los Angeles area?
"Yeah, but I only hafta sell one..."
Uhh is that wagon a radio flyer?
Tubes, mon!
Is it just me, or does John,, the guy who always cops a feel with Marcia, wear the same shirt at every event?
Yes, that appears to be his trademark attire.
I still have sex almost every day of the week... hahaha
No old guitar amps?? 🎵🎸
I did not see any but people are welcome to bring and sell them
That's slave labour! As long as she pulled you around all day! LOL
Very nice thanks
