I am mourning today. Been a fan for 40 years have all his CDS, and I never had to skip that one tract that you didn’t like. To me that is the hallmark of any good album. Back then I dated a guy who played keyboards had Meatloaf kind of voice. We would do “Paradise by the Dashboard light” at parties. I can’t sing well, but, the female voice was more yelling and I could mange it. Even though “it was long ago and far away” I remember those times fondly. Being young listening to the songs on vinyl, only thinking of the weekend , the future after high schools seemed far away and we just wanted to have fun and listen to music.

This album was released when I was in middle school, and it had a deep impact on my young impressionable mind. As I look back on my life, I think that more than anything else rock 'n' roll taught me about love, and it spoke to the yearning in my heart to love and to be loved. It was bands like Aerosmith, Def Leppard, and maybe Meat Loaf more than any other artist, that showed me the mystery and the power of love. To me listening to I Would Do Anything For Love, taught me what real love looks and feels like, and more than anything else I had ever heard, it spoke to every dream I have ever had. Rock 'n' Roll songs are the modern fairy tale love stories, I never wanted a "prince charming" I wanted a Adam Ant, I wanted a Meat Loaf, I wanted a Steven Tyler...(except since I am a lesbian, make it a female version of those princes of Rock 'n' Roll), and damnit I do believe that "Rock and Roll Dreams Come True"!
This is a perfect album, from the opening of the first track, to the closing note of the final track, this is an album that demands, that everything else in the world just stops, and full attention is given to the beautiful magical art, of this perfect album. Whether you have been listening since it was first released, or if you are just now hearing this album for the first time, just stop close you eyes and FEEL!!!! This is an album of pure love, heartbreak, youthful angst, passion, and a unwillingness to give up and give in, and a scream for something louder and better than this shit world that we are thrust into, it is a demand, and a declaration of a life lived to the fullest, and a hedonistic desire for "everything louder than everything else"!!! One of the greatest hard rock albums of all-time, and Jim Steinman's poignant lyrics, and writing, and Meat Loaf's powerful performance of that art, creating pure poetic beauty and power, a perfect painting of words and sounds that sings to life the heartbeat and passion of the lover's heart!

Beautifully said, I experienced a real joy reading this. BooH2 came out in my junior year. It was a really tough time in my life but songs like "Anything for love" and "Good Girls" would always lift my spirits and "Life is a Lemon" was basically the theme song to my own life for 30 years. We have lost a lot of people over the last 2 years, but this one has hit me the hardest. My three regrets in life are never getting the chance to see Meatloaf, Johnny Cash and Tom Petty play live. Rest in Peace brother, you earned it.

As descriptive and passionate vocalist and musician and orator there is no way in hell I could have summed that entire album up better than you have. Your words are truly poetic and captivate the spirit of the album.
This was my first CD in 1993...No wait? Bat out of Hell 1 was my first CD. This was my first tape. I was 13 or 14 in 8th grade. I always used to fall asleep every night in bed to the end of this albulm right around Good Girls Go to Heaven Bad Go Everywhere.. Jim Steinman's piano used to have that effect on me.
This is the first time I've revisited this albulm in 30 years. I took a nap earlier today in the midst of a painting project and I heard it in my dreams 😂. A lot of these songs choked me up then, and still do now. I resumed painting. Was listen to the albulm, and struggling to find the lyrics from memory that I knew stone cold in 1993. A flood of memories washed over me as well. I used to love doing karaoke to most of Meatloaf's songs. Especially duets with a female.
I am also a huge Def Leppard fan as well. Have all their albums, documentaries. Live albums, alarm ring tone wake up..every morning. Comic books, Time Life magazines, etc.
Did you know Jim Steinman produced Def Leppard Hysteria in 1985 with Def Leppard after Rick Allen's car crash and arm aputation. but they scrapped it. Then Mutt Lange came back in.
I really miss Meat. I'm really sad he died last year. He really spoke to my soul. I enjoyed his unplugged sessions and co hosting Yankee games with Phil "Scooter" Rizutto when I was a teenager. He really was a great all around guy gone too soon. Loved his story telling. (Do you remember the Tales From The Crypt episode with Meat, Judd Nelson and Christopher Reeves?)
I know exactly what you are talking about when the world stops and how there is something so intriguing and magical that demands your attention about this albulm and how the world just stops. I used to envision all the lyrics and music with my eyes closed in my mind when I was a teenager listening to this as if I was watching a rebellious mystery, fantasy movie. (I see scenes and colors when I close my eyes and hear music.)
I'm 43 divorced. Have had about 8 to 10 relationships in the last 25 years. I listen to this albulm and it makes me want to believe again. Slowly...But not naively...😂 I realize it was a different time and I am a different person. But? Just like some of the songs. It takes me back to certain people and places and faces and times of my life.
Check out some of Meat's performances from 1987 when he came back into live music. Truly stunning performances.

So you are 16 and I'm an aging fangirl of 66. Proof, I think, of the universal appeal of Meat to all generations! If you are just starting out down this rabbit hole I envy you the journey - I grew up with all the greats of the 60s, 70s, and early 80s, which was when the music died for me. Remember, rock and roll dreams come through, always!

I Beat my Meat EVERYDAY!!!!!! BUT SERIOUSLY..... Rocky Horror made me a fan. I used to listen to BOOH2 on my discman on trips with my grandparents (RIP) to Hot Springs (Salt Free store they had, the mall, and the North Mountain i now race in Spa Festival) singing at the top of my lungs.... they dealt with it. Pepaw and I would walk up the North Mountain and then up the stairs to the lookout (there was an elevator btw).

Meatloaf was my gateway into hard rock and metal, he was my first concert (and second I think) but like with most things I'd moved on and hadn't really listened to much of his stuff in years. Then about a month ago for no real reason I dropped Bat 1 on the turntable and I'd just forgotten how amazing and unique he was and I don't think a day has gone by since that I haven't listened to something from him.
So sorry buddy, I lost there for a while, but it won't happen again. RIP

Just a week ago I did the same thing with the same album, just on impulse. Now, listening to its sequel. I enjoy how hard rocking but also how soulful this stuff is. Also its nostalgia for a time that never exactly existed (bleeding guitars and howling bikes and all that) is strangely enticing. Vale Meat Loaf (and Jim Steinman last year).

"Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell" is one of the best CD's that #JimSteinman and #MeatLoaf have made... #MeatLoaf is, has been and will be a unique performer in the opera rock genre, a legend that leaves a invaluable legacy in music.

I was 9 years old when this came out and it was the first album I claimed as my own listening to it again and again. Its now 29 years later and I'm listening to it for the first time in almost as many years. Its like I'm back in my bedroom as a child... music is a brilliant time machine.

I was 9 when Bat came out. That and his appearance in rocky horror were iconic for my drama club friends.
I was 25 and working my way up the engineering ladder in New York recording studios when Bat II came out. I have fond memories setting up sp1200s and calibrating 24 track machines with MTV playing "I would do anything for love" in the background.
RIP Meatloaf and on behalf of millions of fans thanks for the memories.

got so many memories growing up listening to this album, my mum got it for my dad for his birthday and I played it for a week in secret before he even got it! Meatloaf was always played on our family road trips from Darwin to Grafton every christmas and was one of the only albums everyone in the car would agree on. I grew up listening to him and even now at 38 when I've had to many rum cans, I play him and ring my dad at 2am in the morning drunk and tell him I love him and thank him for raising me listening to such great music

I was 17 when Bat I came out. I had a 2 yr old son by the time Bat II came out! Both awesome! I'd call my dad and talk about John Denver's Take Me Home Country Road!! Isn't that a hoot?!? Can't call him anymore, enjoy your precious dad darling!!
