Yes Preventable!!! No duty of care to passenger safety Pride, Ignorance, Money, Time, Stupidity, Quality of Resources All played its part in this tragedy Hopefully what has been learnt from the past has been instilled in every cruise line company.
And now in English - various normal things happened during construction but because she later sank those events were attributed with ominous portent. If she hadn't sunk, no one would have remembered.
All those prior events could have been divine intervention or a forwarning of the danger ahead. It's sad that the revenue the journey was providing was of greater importance than delaying the voyage and correcting the problems going on in the belly of the ship.
They should’ve slowed down as what they should’ve done slowed down and then they wouldn’t have hit the iceberg, but they said they were going faster. Bruce is me Jay Bruce is my told him to speed up, but you should slow down in when you got ice flowing around you gotta slow down you don’t have togo don’t go so fast you’ll still get there. You just need to slow down.
Here in Northern Ireland I drive past the Belfast shipyard every day. Amazing how such a small Country could build the World's largest moving object. Skilled workmanship.
I have heard the faulty steel/faulty rivets rumour, but it's complete bollocks. Was there a problem with H&W ships falling apart? Of Titanic's two sister ships,The Britainic was commandeered as a hospital ship during WW1, torpedoed and sunk, but the RMS Olympic did the job it was built for, and was decomissioned and scrapped 24 years later. By all means, remember the Titanic, but remember also the Olympic, the successful sister ship. To say that Titanic was built with faulty steel is like saying that the twin towers collapsed on 11th September 2001 because they were built with defective materials. Put another way, The Titanic wasn't designed to be driven full speed into icebergs anymore than the twin towers were designed to have Boeing 737 aircraft fly into them.
Saw on ,I think Historu channel, that the steel got too brittle in that cold water which made something worse. A lot of factors played into this disaster: speed too fast when hit iceberg, too far north, iceberg too far south, and the flat black night sky made it impossible to see iceberg by lookouts until too late. But, accident broke to light some faults which were corrected on Olympic. AND, it brought to light that no matter what someone said about unsinkable, there were not enough life boats, and changes were made to make sure cruise ships have enough life boats. BUT remember the Concordia?
The fire did more than weaken the metal. It started because the coal was loaded in without proper dampening. This made it too dry in the middle, and it just started oxidizing and then burning. They couldn't put it out without exposing flames and embarrassment and unloading passengers. They couldn't unload passengers until they got to New York. The captain wasn't speeding through an ice berg patch to make a buck, or to set a record (which it just wasn't fast enough to set anyway). He ordered full speed ahead because his ship was on fire, and he needed to evacuate everyone before it burst out in flames. That is the real reason it was speeding through the dangerous waters, not money. There was no prize at the finish line except rescue.
Seen documentaries that said if the ship had rammed the iceburg head on it would of crumbled the front end but it would of stayed afloat with only 4 compartments flooded. It would of caused a few deaths and injuries but no where near what happened. It would of stayed afloat long enough to evacuate Smith could limp to a repair center
No one should ever say (God himself can't sink this ship) God can do anything. Although there was alot of human mistakes that could have been prevented. 😢
Mmmmm. They already had the money. I believe Captain Smith wanted his last cruise to set oceanic records. Ships had been warned to steer clear of the iceberg field, but that would have taken longer. He gave the order to full steam ahead and stay the course, then went to bed. 🚢
I believe the captain was paid to scuttle his ship. There were people on that ship who could have turned the world a different way with a whole new future. There were others who didn't want change. This wasn't an accident.
This is the best video about Titanic, it includes the coal fire. I kept saying it helped in the sinking, many many argued with me about that, and also the ship was built quick to be first to sail, so they skipped important things in building including using poor quality rivets. The icebergs most dangerous part were the edge's under the surface of the water. Sharp and jagged.
i beg to differ, concerning why the ship was broken in two. many ship broke in two or more pieces according to the pressure and heavy metal pulling ect. the way the titanic began to sank it was obvious that the engines and the stern was too heavy
Many commenters here blame 'money' for the blind disregard of warnings and sea conditions. Add plse a bit of pride to accompany the greed. "Pride comes before a fall." 😢
I saw something where the Cole Crew was shoveling Cole for days & long story short if the fire was not burning & the Cole was left in the original spot, the ship would have rolled over after 1-1 1/2hr.
It's fascinating to think a 100 yr old camera preserved film footage of the wreck. Overall, capt. Smith in his arrogance and ego got in the way. He probably wanted so much to show his judgment was true but, seemed to have placed too much hope in the integrity of the ship. History shows that nature is far more superior over man and his mechanical genius. With all their noble intentions to think the Titanic was unsinkable and all their technology of the time, the real failure was charting such a course through icebergs. Apparently, 100 ton iceberg is far more tougher than whatever the tonnage of the Titanic was. The same idea applies to the space shuttle Challenger. They were so sure everything was fine and in their haste and false assumptions the Challenger crew met their fate. The foolishness of the Captain of Titanic should have heeded the warnings of the other ships in the area. If they plotted a different course away from the area and headed more south they could have avoided the tragedy. Woulda Coulda Shoulda but didn't.
Please don't have the smoke coming from all four funnels! Anyone who knows anything about the Titanic knows only three were working funnels!
Its history now, hindsight is a wonderful thing. If you think about it we are all on a Titanic (Earth)heading in the same direction. We never learn 😢
Yes Preventable!!!
No duty of care to passenger safety
Pride, Ignorance, Money, Time, Stupidity, Quality of Resources
All played its part in this tragedy
Hopefully what has been learnt from the past has been instilled in every cruise line company.
You forgot hubris, a lot of people left the living because of it
It's all about the money
They should have stopped like other ships did . 😮
It was the price of a ticket and the class divide that cost many of them people lives
People in 2nd class were the group least saved.
We still live in that world.
Arrogance complacency and greed. Simple as that.
And now in English - various normal things happened during construction but because she later sank those events were attributed with ominous portent. If she hadn't sunk, no one would have remembered.
At least the coal fire was put out.

The captain killed so many lives

How can anyone say anything it was in 1912 no one was born then??
Everything okay at home? 😂
From all the moves the captain made im gonna say he was drunk most of the time.
Here in Northern Ireland I drive past the Belfast shipyard every day. Amazing how such a small Country could build the World's largest moving object. Skilled workmanship.
Skilled workmanship with faulty steel.? How Skilled can you claim great.?!
Grunts doing work didn't know. Designers did.

@@daleliske9757 Northern Ireland didn't have a steelworks.
Rip rms titanic
Another example of corporate greed. We never learn.
That's capitalism folks.

I didn’t know this- thanks for sharing
Hind sight can fix anything!
It's called GREED!
This whole disaster could have been prevented so nobody would have lost their lives

It would of caused a few deaths and injuries but no where near what happened. It would of stayed afloat long enough to evacuate Smith could limp to a repair center
Money/profit
If they had just slowed down and listened to the warnings they might not have sunk unfortunately 😢
Of course it could have been prevented.
Rest in peace 🙏
No one should ever say (God himself can't sink this ship) God can do anything. Although there was alot of human mistakes that could have been prevented. 😢
But is it the Titanic?....or the Mauritania
We better learn from history! 😢
They also think that the metal plates had a high concentration of sulfer in metal which when subjected to the cold water made it very brittle
Guarantee they took it series after the ice berg
The Captain was a Hero in one way but a screw up in another.
Yes but it was Bruce ismay that convinced the captain to speed up the ship to make headlines
Sadly it seems it was completely preventable.
Equally as sad, is that money came first and that is why tragedy ensued.
May they all rest in peace.
💔

This wasn't an accident.
Even if the titanic disaster was prevented. The outcome is the same 100 yrs later; they’re all on the other side!
Yeah except it would have meant all of them (if the accident never happened) would have had the opportunity to procreate.
I mean at least the fire was put out

SHOULD HAVE PRAYED OVER THE SHIP✝️✝️✝️✝️🙏🥺
Wow.
i will tell you what went wrong. ARROGANCE on all of them, from the captain right down to the crews
Arrogance and Ignorance by Ismay had much to do with the disaster
It was probably an inside job, knowing that them bankers got off
There are mega yachts belonging to oligarchs around the world that cost close to $300M. How could a modern Titanic cost nearly their equivalent?
I think it's very sad news that day it's also a lesson to manufacturing ships company to used quality materials to fixed it well very authentic
Many commenters here blame 'money' for the blind disregard of warnings and sea conditions. Add plse a bit of pride to accompany the greed. "Pride comes before a fall." 😢

It was a sit up
There were so many high falutant bankers and investors
On the Titanic
And it's easy to remove competition that way
