    Cool! I use food grade 3 gallon buckets, 1 gallon pots and $.99 store pitchers for my worm towers. Only problem I have sometimes is the roots from nearby plants invade. Great video!

    Think I will add this to my repertoire. I have a couple worm systems (big worm farm in a garbage can and a Green Tower) but one thing I do is put worms in my grow bags. I fill the very bottom with chopped leaves, periodically bury pieces of banana down the side and mulch the top. Get a crazy amount of worms in the bag. Don't re-fertilize the plants after the initial planting. 🙂

    Great ideas for compost in place systems!
    Robbie of Robbie and Gary often uses the inexpensive pitchers and a showing iron to make the holes! The compost tool is a good idea for the longer systems.
    I'm building a couple of metal raised beds - and thinking of Pierpont one of these in - I've thought of using a piece of hardware cloth for the part in the ground, plus some kind of collar and lid .... or even cardboard with some holes punched ....

      Why don’t these professional/career you-tubers give credit to the original channels like Robbie and Gary….they’ve been promoting this idea for years and Robbie came up with it.

    Another great lesson. I'm going to try this in one of my gardens. I have lots of food waste that I just let compost in bins but this idea will benefit my garden without having to wait for time to compost the scraps. Great idea! Such a great channel.

      @@wendiland With this fine weather, the weekend was very nice Wendi! Not even any mosquitoes... yet! And the first hail storm of the season has come and gone. Such wonderful weather now that the south winds have backed off somewhat also. Looking forward to your next grow space project! -Bob...

    Also if you don’t have a drill or bits you can buy the PVC already with the holes under perforated PVC drain pipe area.

    Another wonderful vlog. I truly enjoy watching your new endeavors in the garden. FWIW, if you take some medium grain sandpaper to the top and inside cap of the pvc tube, you can then easily remove the cap, but seal back snuggly....😊. Can't wait for the next post!

    • @wendiland
      @wendiland  11 місяців тому

      @Wendi Phan Yes, basically where the inside of the cap touches the outside of the pvc pipe. Play with it, sand a little, then put the cap on, if still too tight, a little further. My father actually used the large diameter pipe in the past to build a staggered bird nest on his farm. I showed him your composting idea... he really liked your approach. You are able to get so much in return from so little real estate!

    Great idea!!💡🤩I did something similar for my kitchen garden and about to put a 2nd one in my new raised bed that I put together on the wkend. To experiment I just used those small novelty plastic trash cans with a click on lid, drilled holes in the sides and dug it in the ground too. It’s inexpensive but probably not as long lasting as your’s. I love how you hid your’s under the plant too 😄👍🏼🪴

    This is very interesting and informative. Thank you very much. I live in the Midwest and have a small patio that I grow flowering plants in pots in summer. Couple of them I move indoors for winter.
    Can I do wormicompost indoors if I start outdoors in pots in summer? Will it survive indoors and also will it smell bad? Any suggestions?

    Is sprinkle soy hull pellets on top of the soil. The worms love that stuff and it really fattens them up.
