There is nothing more beautiful than a wagon train and the sound of horses hoofs the sight and the sound just does something to me that I can't explain only a travller knows it takes me home it's so beautiful to see and hear my mother and farther are travllers I love the sound so much thankyou for the video x
Coming from a family that has bred these horses with over 30yrs its great to see a video with such apprieciation for the breed. Well done fantastic video 👍
as a girl i had and loved my palamino vanner stalion, apache chief. at 73 hes been long awaiting me but he lived to nearly 30. he pulled, road, tricked, backed up, jumped and had the best sence of fun and humor and kindness that never failed to amaze me.we roamed the laurel ridge of w.pa.summer barebacked swimming can not be beat..
Beautiful horses. Simply poetry in motion. You would also be hard pressed to find a more willing and loving companion. Willow, my Gypsy Vanner filly, and I spend hours out in the pasture together. I have heard they make a wonderful and flashy trail horse as well as a solid cart horse. For now I just feel extremely honored to share my life with such a wonderful creature. Long live the Gypsy breed.
wow....I've just come back from Appleby Horse Fair but this is a beautiful video, amazing photographer, ah feathers feathers just love, thanks for this really enjoyed it. you should do some more.
I'd love to live in a tiny house, but since I don't drive, I'd do somethig like this. Been doing horse riding and horse and carriage for six years, and yes I'd wear a riding helmet when being on the road, in case the horse gets spooked by cars etc
Barrel Top wagons and heavy colored cobs were once a regular sight on the country roads of Ireland, its all history now,the pace of life moved into the fast lane, pity really....

I'm smiling. This video reminds me of the scene in "Friendly Persuasion" when Gregory Peck & his neighbor race their carriages enroute to Sunday services.
I love the idea of gypsy caravans and the horses look marvellous but can someone explain why some of the horses have their heads pulled to one side and why no one noticed the black horse nearly on its haunches and skidding on the road.
lovely to see, but one black horse was having severe problems on his near side. was there a problem with his tack? I sure hope he isn't being used with an injury
I've always thought it a bit of a load 4 just 1 poor horse...I would only use 2 horses. As long as I can remember I've wanted to rent a Gypsy Caravan and drive through Ireland. Mine would definitely have a porta pottie though. 😁
i know this is an older comment but if you wanted to know it is because of the camera it spooked him/her a little and it wanted to stop and look at it to figure out what was going on, but it obviously couldn't cuz the other horse was pulling.
OH WOW!!!.....you can see really good starting at about 0:25 your horse on the left side of your wagon is not pulling, he/she is sliding there hide legs against the pavement of the road!!!.....LOL I never seen that before!!!
probably getting used to pulling. or got spooked. we know what to do with our horses, they wouldn't be pulling if they weren't healthy don't you worry.
Nothing, he just really doesn't want to go so he is locking his knees to try and stop moving. But since the other horse is going he just gets pulled along and slides.
LOL. You can pick up a Gyspy Cob in the Uk for free! They make fantastic good all round horses. I went for Clydesdales in the end because they are a rare breed in the UK.
Beautiful creatures, but at 23 - 25 seconds, there is an instance that the camera catches a black Vanner's hind left leg, not moving, literally stiff and dragging. What's wrong with the owner, if this was truly their horse, they would see it and not have it on the road. Poor horse.
+Brenda Magee I felt similar but watched the segment over and over...I believe there was an issue with the horse, perhaps it threw a shoe...but if you watch the ensuing film sequence they mention something about taking him to the side...and then you see a lone horse on a lead beside one of the carriages, which I believe is that horse. So not cruelty, maybe...but an emergency issue they resolved until they could get him to a farrier? It happens.
Makes me homesick soooooo much

A Gypsy Vanner is a cross between a gypsy horse and a Clydesdale. They certainly are impressive looking horses.

[hind leg}
AT 0:21 what happend to the horses rear left leg? Why was he sliding the leg along and not upright on it?
Horse is putting on the brakes, but no shoe cleat!
Why that one horse has both hind legs pushing out at the beginning ?
on what period in time did people travel like this mos often?
Mid 1700s to now really
Fantastic vid,

at 0.25 - pretty painful to watch - were they going downhill??

More than many can afford! My only hope will be to have one in heaven....

No such thing as a Gypsy Vanner in the UK. We call them cobs. They are beautiful horses though.
There is such thing as gypsy vanners in uk
When technology fails this is the way

Vanners are so pretty. But my daughter used to dtive Belgians.
👍💐
0:25 what's with the horse's back leg?
probably getting used to pulling. or got spooked. we know what to do with our horses, they wouldn't be pulling if they weren't healthy don't you worry.

DriveOn vanners
They´re going down and the horse is ´braking´, trying to prevent the wagon running into the horse.
Drive on vanners

+Sue Moore the horse dragging its feet has black legs, the horse being led has white socks.
okay I see your point
Looks like he cannot get any traction on that road and is slipping from the wagon pushing him down the hill.
Just lost traction on a hill
Give them a breek, water. It look hot. Bath in river
u must not keep horses that was the mare holding the wagon proper wagon mare
I think they must use smaller cariages
How ARE you
